Im 44 years old. A friend gave me a cassette copy of Amy’s Christian hits when I was about 15. I LOVED it and still always sing these two songs in my head, so I decided to look them up. Amazing performance!!

this is a beautiful song. I sang it in primary school. my mum gave me Amy's greatest hits cassette tape when i was young so it's all i listened to. Back then, we didn't have a lot of choice. i went to sunday school until i was 16. now im atheist but still a good tune

Hey Jay...a beautiful story you got there even though it has a sad ending....even as an aetheist, God still loves you deeply, Christ's blood is still the ultimate sacrifice and purchase for you and i. How i pray that the lessons you picked way back in Sunday school.....will flood back to your precious heart.May the Holy Spirit accomplish it for you. This rendition of El Shaddai was so moving and powerful. Michael Smith really knows how to wring the right amount of gravitas and ethos with the piano accompaniment. He is a talented pianist and vocalist.Both of them are amongst the gospel greats." Thy Word" was well done, and those harmonies were tight and beautiful.

Amy's beautiful voice touches my soul. She has dealt with Alzheimer's with her father. I am dealing with Alzheimer's now with my wife. This beautiful song brings peace to my mind. Thank you Amy! Your talents touch me in many ways!

I've never heard this song better than a night in 1994 when I was riding on a bus going home to Joy Ranch Home for Children. It was cold that night but we heard the voices of angles that night. The voice was that of Laurie Underwood. In the dead of night she sang the entire song "El Shaddai". Her voice rang over all other noises that night. Mrs. Grant does great justice to the song, but for me it will never compare to that night.

Nothing is more beautiful than a woman singing from her heart praising the Lord God. I don't think she could sing with this much feeling if it were not in her heart. Jesus came to save us from our sins, thats it! If He saved me, he can save anyone. He said " I come to give you a new comandment; that you love one another" Nuff said.

As my walk with Jesus grows, the more I come to realize that prayer is far more satisfying to PRAISE and THANK Jesus for what we do have, than ask Him for more. When I first believed on Jesus I stopped listening to music altogether, Led Zepplin, Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, I idolized those guys. The music itself was an idol to me. This song was one of the songs that got me to listening to music again. I couldn't understand most of the words but it was filled with the spirit, it always moves me.

Listening in May 2024 … & Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.

I just realized the 2nd song "Thy Word" is the same song (translated into Indonesian) that i and my Sunday school friends used to sing every time before hearing the sermon and bible stories. This song brings back memories as a kid, I would spend almost half a day in the church on Sunday school with my friends. Although we were minors, we worshipped the Lord with all of our hearts, always excited during the bible stories are shared. This memory is anchored in our lives as adults and hopefully will stay strong until our very end.

I heard this message about God from Amy Grant when I was 14 in 85'. I did not want to go with my youth group. This concert was the beginning of a dialog from God through Amy Grant that I have listened to/heard from God through out my life. She's not perfect, wish she was, but nun of us are, Her songs seem to be my thoughts, feeling and questions to God .

The love of God and our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.

I 1st heard this song inside The Voice of Hope radio station in South Lebanon, 1983 with Linda Tkachuk and Bob n Margaret Bennett. We took gifts to children that had no opportunity to since the muslim uprising that destroyed that beautiful country. May they be free from all of the oppression and grief soon. In His Majesty's Name ,I pray ,still.

@@rw6723 I think you're being quite judgmental!! Her voice is always beautiful, not because of her but because of what God has given her. Voices change a bit with age, maybe that's what you're hearing. At least that's what I hear and I've studied music.

This song is very anointed. I used to sing this song in church while my sister played the piano. It is a powerful song for the world to hear.

Saw Amy in Bloomsbury, PA one year ago today. When she began to play the chords of this song, I got a chill down my spine. I had heard this song the morning of the concert. I loved what I had heard so much that I had it memorized it in a half hour and was singing and playing it on my better half, my 12 string guitar. +Gern Blanston Sir, I will second you on that!!! I have also work Security for her at a Concert in the Finger Lakes region, She was one of the most decent performers that I've ever worked for. She was incredibly polite and treats her people well....She's a lovely person. She's got a good down to earth relationship with her people.(witnessed that first hand...treats them as equals...NO Diva here.) She's A BEAUTIFUL PERSON!!!! Love that women and she's one respectable girl!!!! Love her!! God Bless her because she's Genuine!!!

So, we, Christians, are called to join our forces against our enemy! Against sinning and our sinful nature and all Satan's traits that we still carry with us! Not by our human might, not by our human power and strength! But "by His Holy Spirit"! His Spirit is the power against our enemies! And we should learn how to use this power effectively against the enemy. God has given us all the weapons we need to destroy and kill our enemies! Not our own kind! Our bros and sistrs r our army! Not enemies!

Through all my toiling and spinning, El Shaddai! You are the same forever. An old hymn proclaims, ".....there is no shadow of turning with thee..." That means He (Jesus) is immutable (which means He never will turn His back on me). And our Father in heaven has the same impeccable quality. He has not changed His mind that all who will believe in His Son Jesus Christ will be saved. But time will run out some day. If you believe in Christ our Lord, then tell the world!!

El Shaddai! is a favorite contemporary hymn and I am glad we have artists like Amy Grant to write and sing them so beautifully. I love the classic old hymns too. The hymns of my youth are probably the main reason I can remember scriptural truths. I think it's important to keep them alive and not let them die, like this one (which really isn't all that old compared to many others): Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father, There is no shadow of turning with Thee; Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be. creativeplanetjanet I have travelled(actually wandered) to some countries and did odd jobs. When i had to settle down in india; getting a job was impossible without a college degree. I thought once my savings are over; what will I do? I wouldn't be able to beg - atleast not in my town. Then i was literally handed this job on a silver platter - i became a cashier in a multinational company. My uniform - a smart navy blue suit, white shirt and a bright tie. A chauffeur picked me up every morning to go to the bank and visit our head office. Many times, while in this car, I thought of this song "morning by morning, new mercies I see", and I had to bite my tongue to stop me from crying.Life, even now is not hunky Dory; but i can still honestly confess:" Morning by morning new mercies I see."

God is good all the time. His goodness overtakes us and floods us if we will just stop, look and listen. Unlike me, He is faithful, all the time; that is faithful to those of us who know Him by the way of salvation in Christ Jesus. But He is also faithful to the lost by His GRACE. 2 Corinthians says in layman's terms that "....God was in Christ Jesus reconciling (making right) the world while not counting men's sins against them..." So we need to tell the world that is splitting at the seams with sin that God loves them and He has already made their sins of no avail in Jesus Christ His Son. All they have to do is to stop, look and listen - but we need to be telling the story. To Christ be the Glory!!!!
