My first purchase attempt for a Wifi 7 mesh system was a TP-Link BE85 x 3 node system. Coming from an Eero Pro 6E system (4 node), my network reliability / stability and speeds shocking dropped quite a bit, disappointingly. I returned it and bought this system (Max 7 x 3 node), and reliability / stability were back where I expected them and speeds were improved over the Pro 6E system. While admittedly, it is very expensive, from my experience, it was better than the Pro 6E and far better than the BE85 system.

I have had the eero Pro 6e as a replacement for Google mesh for a few years and I notice that it drops my Google nests and pucks (my house has 2 echo shows an old echo puck and an Astro as well as 3 google nests and 5 google pucks) randomly but only these google products. Did you ever experience this eero competition bias?

Just did my whole house with 10GB Ethernet and put a rack in my closet. Don't have anything 10GB yet, but this is on my radar. Still rocking the Gen 1 eero mesh units haha. Wished I could connect it to a VPN and assign certain devices (for location spoofing on Apple TV's and such) with this. Do any other's do that? Totally agree for this price point, advanced features should be built in. Good review as always Chris!

The TP-Link produces faster speeds but from what I've seen over time Eero is more reliable. If you want faster speeds and you're okay with needing to reboot your router every few weeks and you want a little bit more customization then you might like TP-Link better.

Eero Max 7 has issues with Bridged mode that the PRO 6 didn't. I have used Eero mesh systems for the last three iterations on bridged mode (behind a Sonicwall firewall). This week I decided to upgrade the Eero Pro 6 (which consistently gets 800 to 900GB download) with the Max 7. Unfortunately, I'm using the EXACT same configuration the Max 7 and it only gets about 160 GB down... consistently) . If I put the PRO 6 back, I'm back to >800. Put the Max 7 back down to

$1700. $2000 on the next. $2500 on the next. $5000 on the next. Economy crashes on the next. Eero wifi 7 is useless without advanced settings and Eero refuses to give users advanced settings. Eero users can't even separate 2.4 and 5ghz bands, nor can they change the channels- there's much more you can't do. People with many smart devices need proper router settings. Eero also downgrades features in bridge mode. Why spend

How many times are we going to fall for the same scenario. What good is an additional super high frequency band that can’t travel a distance. Bottom line is you spend hundreds of dollars to basically get a wireless connection for your phone or tablet inside the house everything else should just be using wired connectionswhich are always gonna be much faster than this crappy Wi-Fi stuff. This is just another half baked idea to sell more hardware

Why do you need distance when they all cover the house fine. It’s not like you want to broadcast this to the neighborhood for resale purposes. The entire point is speed and backhaul when you are seeing 5gig connections become norm or cable soon and fiber already. You are speaking as if they don’t cover the house.
