There are a lot of comments saying this kind of speed is useless. This is not true. Yes, most people will not benefit from these crazy speeds on the majority of the devices in their home. However, there are 2 major benefits from a system like the one in the video: 1. You can maintain fast speeds from the satellite units in a whole home system. The biggest downside to whole home (mesh) wifi is that the satellite units don’t offer speeds nearly as fast as the main access point so they needed to be wired together for the best experience. Now with wifi 7 you can keep them all wireless and still get great speeds from the satellite units even on your older wifi devices. 2. The other benefit is a super fast connection to other internal network devices such as a NAS or another computer. You may not benefit from these crazy fast speeds to the internet since your internet plan is likely nowhere near this fast but you can still benefit from this on your internal network. Most people don’t have a NAS in their home but this is a big benefit for power users such as video editors, content creators, or IT Pros. TLDR: The average person doesn’t need this kind of performance but it’s beginning to blur the lines between wired and wireless which is beneficial for power users and IT Pros. **Throughput isn’t as important as latency when it comes to gaming so if you’re a gamer you’re still better off with a wired connection.

It's not just about speed, but also about latency, number of connected devices, range and reliability/resistance to interference. All of those improve significantly. And as it is almost as fast as most SSDs, it becomes a viable option to store and use files from a NAS as if they were local to your device. I'd be interested in energy consumption of those, as running 3 of those 24/7 may just get really expensive in europe.

I ain't going to lie I tried Wi-Fi6E separate modem and router through a stable cable connection and I can tell you it was the most unstable connection that I ever had. Tried it for a week and a half and went back to Wi-Fi 6.. The distance was very poor the the ability to stay connected was very poor. I'm not going to sit here and say that it's useless because it's not. But most residential internet speed is a gigabyte. Least that's what mine is And that's all I see you around. But I think wifi-6 is more than enough for residential purposes... We can't even get streaming platforms to up bitrates and download speeds for games top out at maybe 500Mbps and TV ethernet ports are still GB connections.. so again for residential it might be Overkill

TP-Link makes really good hardware, but one issue is their inconsistent firmware update track record, where some models, especially high end ones, will quickly lose support if they do not sell well. For example, their AD7200 routers only got around 9 months of support before the stopped firmware updates. Many others in various segments from mid range to high end, would lose support within around 15 months.

MLO is the real deal here, not only no longer dealing with differrent bands and SSIDs(even with stuff like bandsteering its still painful), but also utilizing them all at the same time. I think wired backhaul will always stay as superior(especially in Europe since 6GHz is limited to 500MHz, not full 6.0-6.9GHz range is allowed yet) you can't fit both main 6G stream and 6GHz backhaul into the band both in 320MHz width. Also at the end its still wifi.

Nice video, I can see so many benefits. Maybe not so much for a home but in businesses and organisations there is definitely a big opportunity. 1. For point to point connections, eg if you need to link nearby buildings at gb speed without necessarily having to run or lease fibre connections 2. Improvised density, especially if you are responsible for a laptop fleet in an organisation or school or something similar, you can have intent in your upgrades and ensure wifi 7 is included in the config. Within 3-5years you will have your entire fleet upgraded. 3. Planning starts early, it’s not about today or tomorrow, but you are planning the future ; you would definitely consider it especially if you are due for a wifi refresh.

On my current 6e network, my 6e capable PC is only getting around 300mbps down, using Wifi, and 370mbps while plugged into the extender. So if I can get closer to the 1.5gbps I'm paying for, then I'll be happy. But at $1700 CA for just the 2 pack, I want to do as much research as possible, before I shell out the money.

Looks nice; however as you said there are no WiFi 7 clients- and won’t be any until next year. Problems with 6ghz band is that it doesn’t penetrate walls as well or do distance well (higher frequency) - the only reason this works decently currently is that you probably have no contention. Most people aren’t using the 6ghz band yet which helps. I assume the reason this is working decently is because it is using all 3 (2.4,5,and 6) bands. This will not work as well in apartments, hotels, coffee shops, etc. Where it will work well is in single family homes.

  • @ChrisMajestic

You are correct that I’m likely getting good distance because it’s not fighting with other signals. I wasn’t actually using MLO though so all the tests were with it turned off. I actually got slower speeds with MLO on. I’ve been impressed with what I’ve seen from 6ghz though. Even from Wifi 6E the distance was impressive considering it’s high bandwidth.

Some of their models have free tp-link homeshield standard version and require subscription for homeshield pro. Other devices like x60, x20 or m9/m5 have Homecare which was supposed to be free for the first months but turned out to be free forever (at least for the m5, and I think for the x60 too). If you set an m5 as your main deco, it will load Homecare instead of the homeshield standard. Two drawbacks of using one older deco as main, is that it has slower cpu and less memory, so it can struggle in an overcrowded network. The second drawback is that if you add (let’s say) one m5 on your deco network, even if it’s not set as a main deco, some features get hidden from the menu, like the WPA3, because even though it is supported on the newer decos, it wouldn’t work on the m5, so it’s disabled altogether.

Look at the state of this country. I'm not black (not white either), but it pains to see the majority of black people painted in a certain light when my personal experiences have taught me to know this isn't true. If mindset could shift, color would disappear (on both sides). It's a shame that I'm so used to the blind ignorant anger the black miseducated youth (under 30) so commonly making a public spectacle with their behavior that seeing this man had to bring this to mind. Kudos. Thank you for not being another statistic. And yes, wifi 7 seems exciting. Technology is moving faster and faster. Just so you know, having those certifications is very low level. And they say a degree doesn't matter, it does. Having a good degree, the difficult certifications coupled with experience is a win-win. Even then, making high 6 figures in IT these days is very difficult.

I've had my eye on this system for a while, but I elected to get their 6E system for now since it'll be a whole before I have any BE clients. My municipal fiber service offers up to 2 Gbit but I need to upgrade the rest of my network.

As always, great video! I'm in desperate need of a Wi-Fi upgrade. I was looking at TP-Link XE75 pro, but strongly considering the Omada network. Could you share any insights or make a video about Omada? I'd love to know more about performance, installation, cost/benefit analysis from your perspective! Thank you!

This is wild. Are you on a fiber network until your wifi router? Also what level plan do you have? I’ve made a bunch of upgrades to my own system but for the most part everything is wired with CAT8 cables. I have have to use cox and I have their router modem but I’m thinking I need to get a different router modem entirely now.

I recently bought and returned the Deco XE-75 Pro. I wanted to like them really bad. I have around d 25-30 Kasa smart plugs and am a big fan of TP-Link. The hardware was really nice and the setup was super messy. thier app looks great and I was really exited especially considering the price compared to competitors. Well things went down hill from there. Devices frequently connected to access points much further away rather than connecting to the one next to it. No problem right? In the app you can force connection to a specific access point. Well that feature never worked. Not once. You can also set which access point each unit connects to so if you are far away from the main unit you can piggy back of another satellite rather than going back to the main unit. Cool feature, it didn’t work either. I also just had many connectivity issue I never had when I was using my old Orbi router. Like some have said Tp-Link makes great hardware. The software not so much but I see how this channel has become a TP-Link fan page. Understandable when they keep giving you that sweet free swag!

You would only benefit with this system up to your 1.2gbps plan. Otherwise it will improve the internal connection to your local network devices. The other benefit is improving the connection between your mesh access points. See my pinned comment for more details.
