I've played an R8, and they're really, really nice to play (aside from the slightly too-chunky neck) and look at. Having said that, I couldn't justify the outlay for one compared to my Edwards E-LP-125ALS (I think they're now the 130's), which I have also compared directly back-to-back with a Custom Shop LP Custom, and found the difference to be NOT huge! I'm currently chasing down an Edwards 355 copy because they look wonderful, and (if they play anywhere near as good as my 125ALS) looks like it could be a keeper.

I kept the R8,.to each their own.

I am the current owner of Mike's Edwards LP from this video. It now has Righteous Sound RAF pickups. I love this guitar with all my heart, but it is time to thin the herd (medical bills). If you have any interest in purchasing this quite lovely guitar (with all of Mike's mojo in it....and yes, it is there)....please contact me.

If I were walking on the street and listening to a certain guitar tone played in a bar, here in BR or USA, at the same moment I would think: it's Mike playing ... That's because you have a very peculiar signature and of course, very good .... I do not have an ear, but I have good speakers in my computer, in my impression Edwards is more "sharp" and the R8 more "mellow", but is only my impression, two fantastic weapons in your arsenal :-)

Gibson better hope that people stay uninformed about Edwards ,,,because I have multiple LP customs And LP standards,, and not one of them is any better than my ESP EDWARDS LP custom.Sad but true,,,I have a huge collection of high end guitars and the Japanese guitars are SOOOOOO nice.

The only Edwards I had, had fret board issues around the 14th fret, had it professionally setup and it got better for a while and the came back a few months later. Ended up sending it down the road. Guitar was beautiful though.

Did you put Brass Bridge Post in there if so where did you find them ? I'm looking for some , metric correct ....USA made ones do not fit....you know where I can find some Metric Brass Bridge post that would be awesome

Steel. I think I got them at amazon or home depot. I think cream tone has them, with Allen tool adjustment which is very helpful.

For the money you can’t beat the Edwards. The R8 is a beautiful guitar though and I’d love to own one.

Are all edwards veneer tops? They look like thick maple but maybe its a flame maple veneer on a thick maple cap on mahogany

Very interesting comparison, both guitars sound real good. Edwards has more mids and percussive attack, R8 is louder, seems to have a wider range and more honk. What pickups are these guitars equipped with?

Eryk Cygan Edwards has Manlius Fat Diane pickups, R8 has stock burstbuckers.
