ESP Edwards Les Paul Review - MY FAVOURITE LES PAUL 🎸

Музыка

Absolutely amazing guitar, this is the best Les Paul style guitar I have played so far. When it comes to playability and experience it is better than any Gibson Les Paul I have tried and loads cheaper too! Really versatile, a high-quality guitar made in Japan.

    I often watch guitarists and think wow (s)he is good but nothing more. With you I actually get jealous because of your tone and more importantly because of your tastefulness and choice of notes, beautiful licks and runs. All of it just sounds frigging great.

    I bought my first Les Paul {a Gibson} in 1980. It could have been sitting around in the shop for awhile, so it could have been a 1979 model, I can't remember. Anyway, I LOVED that guitar. This was before Gibson started hollowing out the bodies, and killing the tone and sustain. I had to sell it after I was laid off years later with two small children to feed. I dream about that guitar to this day. Now, I have one of these, and I am very satisfied with it, I think it is better than any of the standard fare that Gibson is putting out today, and for about a third of the price! I do wish I had my old Paul back though. It was a black standard with creme colored bindings and pick guard. Any the case was indestructible! Today they refer to them as "chain saw" cases.

    When Edwards,Tokai,Greco etc. can make a Les Paul,that has better quality, plays,sounds better then the ''real thing'' and costs way less,that tells you all you need to know about how far gone Gibson is,as a guitar company.

    I'll take a Tokai or Edwards L/P replica over the ''real thing'' any day.Modern day production Gibsons are overpriced garbage,with cheap electronics,they don't have volute joints,which causes the ''headstock snapping''-phenomenon,they have muddy pickups and the L/P Custom and many other models have Richlite fingerboards. Call me stupid,but I'm not gonna pay 3,500 Euros for a guitar with a fucking fretboard,which is basically chemically hardened pappe-mache,when I can get me an Edwards,with real ebony,GOTOH hardware,quality fretwork/electronics and proper S.Duncans,for 1/3 of the price.A friend actually owns a white L/P Csutom Edwards,like the one Cam here.That thing is a beast of a guitar. And the Tokai replicas are so good,SRV had bought an entire dozen of Tokai Strat replicas,during his first trip to Japan.The Strat,he holds on the cover of the ''Can't stand the Weather'' album,is not a Fender but a Tokai!

    greekfreak1980 you didn’t specify modern ones you labeled the whole lot of them no good which is total rubbish. Sure these other companies make good guitars but a Gibson is on another level especially the older ones!

  • @greekfreak1980

    @greekfreak1980

    6 жыл бұрын

    There's nothing ''another level'' about Gibson,only the name on the headstock.Gibsons are the Harley Davidson of guitars,overpriced,poorly designed coffeetables,that sell because of the ''prestige'' the name,they carry. Just keep in mind this:Slash's legendary ''AfD'' L/P,is not a real Gibson but a replica with S.Duncans. I repeat:one of the most iconic Les Pauls in rock history,the guitar that Slash is still today considereing his ''Nr.1'' axe,when he's going to the studio,to record a song,is a replica.Nowadays,Gibson,is selling replicas of this replica,a clone of a clone,to fanbois with too much money,like yourself. Meanwhile,I've seen pro-musicians using these Edwards in the studio,like the guitarist of Theocracy.That's a well-known,internationally touring metal band.It's not like,the guy can't afford a ''real Gibson''.He just prefers an instrument,that gets the job done,not a fancy name on the headstock.

    I agree. At this point, one of these good vintage copies, in my experience, is better than a standard production Gibson LP. When you get into the Gibson custom shop they tend to be better but are not always. I did like a $3,500 U.S. special run Gibson LP Deluxe that I played recently but it is so much more money. I paid $400 for my Ibanez PF200. Though it was a little banged up, it sounds and plays like amazing! I only mentioned what I paid for it since it will never be sold. Lol

  • @CameronCooper

    @CameronCooper

    It is a long tenon neck construction from what I can gather. It's hard to describe how the neck feels but I'd say it feels just as good if not better than a Les Paul :)

    today doesn't matter where the guitar is made on. All are cut by CNC and they looks and feel same. Of course, more expensive guitar more work on details you´ll see in the finish. too other brands that are far less expensive than gibson are Tokai and Burny. All high quality instruments.

  • @jreagle58

    Actually your comment about the guitar being strung wrong is not entirely correct. There is a school of thought that stringing it around the bridge reduces the breaking point over the saddles thereby reducing overall tension on the strings.

    The reason to string it up like that is so the strings don't make such a sharp angle between the bridge and the tailpiece. Sharp angles is what throws les pauls out of tune so often (17° angle headstock LUL). Fantastic as always man.

  • @juliAnarchist

    Not really man, unless you convince yourself of it, we hear what we expect to hear. A lot of people also say "well yeah gibson's 17° angle headstock gives you better sustain" and it really doesn't, it only makes for crappy tuning stability. Just my 2 cents

  • @MetalPlayGames

    @MetalPlayGames

    6 жыл бұрын

    Yeah, that 17 angle headstock is true, but i hear little difference between wrapped vs normal, it's not just imagination. Wrapped sounds that there's missing some attack/brightness, it sounds also looser, maybe because strings are little loose than normal way. Johan Segeborn has done video about top wrapping where he test wrapped vs normal.

  • @62SG

    @62SG

    Why would sharp angles throw a guitar out of tune? And why would that happen at the bridge of all places? Never heard that one before. People top wrap because the lower break angle is easier on strings (this is why Zakk Wylde did it in the first place), because it lets you drop the tailpiece to the bottom (supposedly to increase sustain but I'm doubtful of that) and because it makes the strings feel slinkier (doubtful of that too). I top wrap for the same reason Zakk did, I find I break way fewer strings this way.

    Got 4 Edwards LP's , 8 Gibson Les Pauls, some Epi's , Ltd, FGN, all quite new stuff. Let me say, Edwards are great, maybe they suck compared to old vintage original LP's, but as affordable LP's they're great. I would sell my Gibsons, but never my Edwards. In Europe you can get Gibson LP's at the big stores, Ebay or whatever, but Edwards LP's are quite rare. Guess what?
