I am a huge Edwards fan boy, and this is easily one of the best Edwards clips on KZread. Production, narrative, content, control eagerness, objectivity, sound, and not least playing! Excellent video pal. I have Gibsons, attacker, and have been the proud owner of two Edwards, and Edwards totally rule.

Love my Edwards. I bought one around 2008. White with gold hardware and duncans with gold covers. I'm fairly positive the model is an E-LP-130CD. It's been one of my favorite guitars ever since I purchased it through the harmony central gear forums off another poster there. It was barely used when I got it since I believe it was made in 2007.

@Clever Name: There are different sorts of intellectual property (patent) protections. Typically, they are either design or utility. Utility means if something is really novel (like if you could invent a guitar that was invisible) - these are given considerable protection and should be since a lot of work has been put into novel science. The second is a design patent (like what Gibson tried to rely on). So, for example, if your guitar line came on in "dildo pink" Christmas tree shape. The company probably spent a lot of time and money to create this image. However, these are given very little protections now. Gibson lost for multiple reasons having to do with the limited protections given to design patents. All in all, the patent laws are quite fair.

I’ve owned a few Gibson les Paul’s and still own one along with a Gibson V and Explorer. I had a buddy offer to sell me his Edwards les Paul custom and I wasn’t all that jazzed about it since I saw it as a copy but after playing it and really getting a feel for it I fell in love with it. I can honestly say that it competes with Gibson’s. It plays amazingly well and sounds incredible so I’d definitely recommend it to people who want a real feel Les Paul🤘🏼

The reasoning behind the model numbers is actually so customers can easily identify the higher-tiered models from each year, as the number (in your case, 112), is how many thousand JPY the guitar cost as a recommended retail price. For example, my E-LP-130CD/P (a '54 Les Paul Custom clone) retailed for 130,000 JPY.

Hey Hunter, could you please do a video when you have a guitar around with a common set of Seymour Duncans and do a sound comparison against EMG 81/60 (non-mod) (preferably 57/66 if possible) Despite many videos, none seem to really do the job, but the way you did it worked wonders, so it'll surely be perfect for that. Why I'm asking is because, usually I hear good cleans from EMGs, but at a friends place I tried a guitar with an 81/60 into a Line6 Audio Interfaces into TH3 and they sounded so bad (really flat and lifeless) compared to the DiMarzio's in my guitar..

The difference between the two guitars even with just the bridge pickup is pretty big imo. Maybe because of the 18V mod?

Check out epiphone les paul custom prophecy plus. ( I own one) It's basically the same except its 81/85 emg config. Close to the zakk wyld design.

Hunter doesn’t really like guitars that aren’t in the traditional shapes (Les Paul, Strat, Tele, etc.), so I doubt we’ll see any V’s or other weird shapes. I would LOVE to see him review an LTD Arrow, though.

What do you think of that 81 in the neck? I have a jackson 7 with a 707 in the bridge and 81-7 in the neck. Not sure if i like the 81-7 in the neck but the 707 in the bridge is great

I always thought Edwards were guitars that were supposed to be ESP Guitars but there was some kind of imperfection by the ESP builder standards so they get rebranded.

Great video as usual! Got me looking into an Edwards now. Gibson could make a guitar like that, but ppl would gripe for a year. It's too light, too colorful, lul emgs, and on and on. Sometimes it seems like Gibson can't win.

I have Edwards les paul 130 CD, black beauty with seymour duncan's in it. I really loved emg's in this vid, i should probably get some EMG Het set in it :D and make it rhythm machine. I liked your edwards sound better and chunkier than your ESP eclipse.

3 years too late but. I own a Laquer taste made by edwards and, in 15 years that I've been playing electric guitar and that I've came across many and many US made Gibson Les Paul... let's say it blew them out of the water every single time

Older Edwards E-LPs tend to be heavier. I've got a 1989 and a 2000 E-LP and both are over 9lbs. A friend of mine has an early 90s and it's a boat anchor at almost 11 lbs. But yeah, the newer ones are pretty light, 8lbs or less.
