So true, hopefully, at long last, times really are a changing, don’t let casual racist or homophobic remarks be said unchallenged, I’m a 76 yr old white British woman, I’ve learnt if you don’t challenge offensive language, the racist will think you share their views. It gets easier to challenge I’ve found with age. Young people, who are hopefully better educated, for them racism isn’t an issue, homosexuality isn’t an issue. nor the transgender stuff. Thankfully they all work and socialise with each other. I’ve got real faith in the young, obviously I’m generalising, but big oaks from little acorns grow.

Unfortunately, the people who need to hear this won't.

I don't that's what we are dealing here with. There are many real threats to humanity, all caused by our greed. Now there are strong-appearing men (never women) all over the world pointing to minorities and blaming them or denying those problems exist. Fascism is strong-appearing leaders rounding up the people they have scared sh!tless before, instrumentalising them and make them hate said minorities: All for te purpouse of power. No values. Just greed. Much more than just bullying.

Edie you certainly delivered a well thought out message to those who have gone astray and forgotten how our ancestors fought for the freedom that we all have in this country! I applaud you for saying exactly what many of us have been thinking .

Fascism means the government has authority over everything. Speech, guns, religion, food, clothes, cars. If you believe in government taxing and regulating all of these things, by definition, you are the fascist. Democracy just means any system where some group of citizens vote for their government. A fascist dictatorship that has voting by an upper class, even members of the party, is by definition a democracy

Your Republicans have used all sorts of improper methods to disenfranchised certain voters. That includes illegal gerrymandering to manipulate the voting districts which minimize the voting power of minorities and other segments of this society. But that's okay with you because you do not believe in equal rights for ALL tax paying Americans. This society is the spitting image of PRE-WW2 Germany. As a result Hitler started a war that took the lives of 400,000+ Americans. I am not on that privileged nonsense you are espousing. How do you know the writer of the letter is rich, or that she has an easy life? Just because it was read well by Edie Falco? Some of us who are white and have challenging lives due to illness and relative economic poverty feel exactly the same way as the writer of the letter. My dad fought. My mom was in the Civil Service during the war. We honor all they fought (they fought against the White Supremacy of Hitler) for by fighting for justice for everyone today. I am of Northern European heritage and I APPROVE THIS message. .
