  Putting aside that it was read by my hero, I was really moved by Nick Cave's letter. I might wish his analogy had not used God, a concept in which neither I nor Stephen Fry believe, but the idea that AI may be used to replace human creativity is truly appalling. We blossom and grow through our effort, not by inactivity and once we allow our electronic tools to do everything for us, including our thinking, we might as well simply give up as a species and stop reproducing.

  Stupid letter perpetuating a stupid stereotype. The recorder is (unfortunately) cheap but it is not a easy instrument to play, and to blame the instrument for the way it is abused in musical education is absurd. Yeah, I know letter is meant to be a joke, but it is one without subtlety, irony, or sympathy. Cheap and nasty humour for cheap laughs.

  Just finished “Bedpan Commando”. What a read! I never realized what nurses went through during the war! She was one tough cookie and handled herself with dignity and class despite being disrespected, sexually harassed and taken for granted. She had a tough job to do and did it without wanting any fanfare. I salute all the brave nurses who took care of the wounded and sick soldiers plus civilians when needed. And to think about being a woman so far from home in war zones that were sometimes shelled and shot at by German planes. May such brave souls never be needed in that kind of setting again. War is the world going mad and needs to end. Hasn’t the human race had enough of it! Praying for peace in Ukraine and the Middle East! 🙏

  There are music pieces written by serious composers for the recorder. Learning any musical instrument is not easy but it’s life enhancing.

  In January 2019 I was in the hospital recovering from hip replacement surgery when I had the honor and privilege of getting to see Olivia Coleman's now legendary Oscar acceptance speech. Because of the way she read a letter written by Elizabeth the Queen Mother during WW2, I have subscribed to this incredible channel.

  We had a red setter dog….every time my daughter played the recorder the dog would continually howl..we had a neighbour who would practice the bagpipes which made our dog howl even more…several times the neighbour would say “your dog is putting me of my bagpipe practice”…I ended up telling him that his bagpipes were putting “my daughter and the dog of practicing the recorder and howling”...then one night he started up his bagpipes and they sounded dreadful but only lasted a few minutes…two days later another neighbour told me that my bagpipe playing neighbour died suddenly while practicing his bagpipes..

  MY God, I have two daughters and back in the day one played the clarinet and the other the bloody Glockenspiel. Clang ding bong went one and Weasel Weasel blahhh went the other.. I shall never forget the duet Twinkle Twinkle Little Star as long as I live..

  My mother gave my school recorder to my daughter decades after her torture. I was horrified ..... until we were told that we had to buy a kazoo for her. A freaking KAZOO!!!!! I didn't know hell could get any worse. She took it to grandma's house the following holidays 🤣🤣🤣
