He reminds of The Lich from Adventure Time: practically indestructible and his only purpose is to end all life.

This guy is a prime example of early installment weirdness. The only SCP ever to have a standing kill order, and one that many other scps were created for just to show off how fucking OP he is. When it comes to writing quality, 682 is a little lacking. But him, alongside SCP-173 are so iconic to the Foundation that we can't get rid of them. Over the years some of the attempts to destroy him have gotten admittedly more elaborate and creative, and i want to name drop one SCP in particular that is pretty out there in craziness, but spoilers I guess.

He cannot die, because he technically isn't alive in any way we know. Imagine if Schrodinger's Cat hated life and could kill everything. He is essentially an absolute fact of the universe, and the only proper way to kill him, is to kill everything else as well.

On a meta level, 682 is not just a product of early SCP weirdness, it's a contingency. There was little to no quality control and the site became full of dumb OP monsters with no weaknesses. There were so, so many people who wanted to write a dark edgy demigod creature that defied containment and was destined to destroy the world, and it was really cringe. Enter 682, the ultimate monster. It's every edgy monster wrapped into one to the point of parody, and one of the most popular skips to boot, so nobody can ever write another edgy monster again.

18:22 Correction, 682 doesn’t absorb things, but rather adapts to any stimuli to ensure the same thing that managed to damage it doesn’t work twice. Baring the 999 attempt, since that was more like him expelling the happiness from himself and weaponizing it.

Personal experience; people usually start off liking keter the best but later on tend towards euclid. Doesn't happen all the time, but (especially for people who have been in it for a while) the way that keter SCPs tend to just gradually try to one up each other gets a bit boring while euclids often feel a bit more... fae, I guess. Like they aren't actively trying to destroy you, but could absolutely ruin your day without even meaning to and you won't even understand why.

my personal favorites are neutralized and safe with a side of euclids, in a world filled with so much reality bending mischief it makes a lot of sense to me that there's a lot of fun/weird anomalies who aren't just "murderfuck 5000, AND THEN THERE WAS ULTRA REALISTIC GORE... AND THEY WAS SENTIENT THROUGH THE TORMENT" and are just... weird anomalies with possibly worrying implications like 1609, 1470 or 2662 or that one infinite bag of potatoes or the polite coffee machine, it makes the universe feel more "real" in a way that not every anomaly is a body horror lovecraftian entity with malicious intent, some things are just chillin and don't make sense, just anomalies.

I agree for the most part but with these times of videos you can just focus on the best of the best. Really doesn’t matter which type it is. Might be best to do the main introduction scps and then focus of different factions so the building blocks are more flesh out for the story type ones.

@@hawkey21 keter, at least when I was reading it pre 1000+ all seemed to be different forms of natural disasters waiting to happen and their containment, scps seemed to be hit and miss passed the 2000 mark though.

I kind of find funny that one of the reason that 682 is friend with 079 is because 079 is not a living being just a computer. Which make sense.

682 is an entity I have mixed feelings on; it's certainly an iconic aspect of the lore, and if nothing else the sheer variety of ways the Foundation has attempted to kill this thing is rather amusing, but in a lot of ways it's not an especially interesting anomaly on its own. A lot of people have since attempted to reimagine the character (in particular the site's most prolific author, DJKaktus, who for a while has been hard at work on a revised version of 682's original article that's more in line with the site's modern tone), and some of those reimaginings are honestly way more interesting than the original lizard.

682 suffers from that early Foundation problem of everyone wanting to make an indestructable monster that destroys everything. Even the "rage state" thing is a relic of that. It's basically that one kid who makes up new rules for their character on the fly so that nothing can hurt them. It sounds cool on paper, but gets extremely boring in practice.

The lizard is a classic example of someone who's more interesting as a side character in someone else's story

The Foundation use the minimum required materials to contain an anomaly. The problem ich 096 is that he will, sorta like Saitama from One Punch Man, always be strong and fast enough to reach his target. It doesn’t matter what you put in front of him. The box is there to give warning time and keep his face from the staff.

682 was actually pinned into combat against other SCP's as part of these extermination attempts

For all the complexity that modern archives provided, which i appreciate narrative-wise, the og's such as 682 always have a special place in my heart, the simplicity and unique-ness of a lizard that can't be killed and hateful towards life is enjoyable.

Calling him "edgy" is probably the nicest thing anyone has ever said about him. Once again I would like to request you check out Scp-882, Scp-217, Scp-2406, and Scp-2309.

There's a good animated video going over some of the ways the foundation has tried to kill 682 by "SCP explained," and I recommend you watch it. There's some pretty crazy one's, and it'll show you not only just how unkillable this thing really is, but also how smart it is.

The "everything Bright isnt allowed to do" has been removed from the wikidot after was Bright exposed for years of (sexual) harassment.

A common trope for SCP years back was to cross test it with a lot of new deadly SCPs, which is why cross testing is kinda cringe now. Minor spoiler for a -J SCP: There is a -J which is an anomalous catapult that unerringly launches anything into the sun. The inevitable note about launching 682 with it was that "it came back on fire", with no additional context given.

As someone who has also beat cancer, I completely understand any comepletely unhinged and out there comments and jokes that Alicia makes because there is just a rush of joy and excitement.

You should find a video that lists some of the other termination attempts. Good way to get an idea of just how indestructible he is, as well as learn about other SCPs to check out in the future.

How did they make an SCP 682 Explained video and not mention 053 It is by far the coolest interaction amongst all the SCPs

The best part of scp-682 is just seeing how it reacts to all the other scps, because there are some surprising interactions. There should be a few videos on it.

I'd love for her to watch something on 5000, especially since it gives some insights into 682 that you don't really get without it.

There was one Story written about this guy that i really liked, where he basically lives to the heatdeath of the univerese on a charred earth and actually misses humanity and gets artistic :D i sadly cant rmb the name of it. Tho i think the Channel The Exploring Series did a reading of it. Can only recommend if you can find it. And yea the Lizzer shows up in a lot of other SCP stories because he is a fan favorite.

If you’re interested in learning more about Max Lombardi as a character, TheVolgun did a cover of the Lombardi Tales, a series of stories told by the one and only Max Lombardi. I think it would actually be a good place to learn about certain concepts, like reality benders and “Nobody”.

Another thing that would be intersting to learn more about are the various groups of interest in the scp universe, i would recomend the exploring series for that particular topic, their video on the church of the broken god or the one on sarkcism would be great ones to start

In game SCP: Containment Breach you never meet 682... you only hear moment when it escapes from its containment and from then on, there is small chance for background sounds of machine guns shooting followed by deafening roars and building starts to shake violently for few moments before it ends and it is safe to assume, 682 ate all guards and continues its attempt to escape outside. When you get to outside and sneak past guards, SCP-682 isn't far behind you as you get bit farther you hear alarms and ALL guards, tanks and helicopters head to one of gate. You only saw one of its arms in form of tentacle taking down a helicopter, only that one body part yet it felt really dangerous.

Scp 682 Upon seeing human: UH OH STINKY!

Oh damn. Next thing you know, she’s gonna see the original SCP: SCP-173

The reason why the end mentions "not hitting the sun" is because there was a common fear that if 682 was to ever be shot out into space and it was pulled into the Sun via the gravitational pull, then 682 would redirect the Sun itself to be on a collision course with Earth.

SCP-682 is the living embodiment of "what doesn't kill you only makes you stranger"

11:06 Just so you know not all D-Class, are criminals, some are found guilty for crimes they didn’t commit, some are just homeless people that the foundation picked up, some are orphans who the foundation adopted (yes they have children as D-Class), and there’s Also one story where the foundation made a retired veteran a D-Class because he refused to work for them. Basically if the foundation thinks that your someone expendable, and that nobody would miss, you could just as easily become a D-Class.

If there's ONE scp to check out, it really should be the telepathically communicating spider. If ANYTHING will make you actually feel empathy towards a spider, ever, this story is that.

My favourite 682 related vid is "The Inevitable End of All But Me", because what good is being immortal when even the universe will grow old and die.

SCP 682 might just be one of my spirit animals. The only difference is that I don't hate ALL living things. I just hate people sometimes.

Context: There is a trebuchet SCP able to launch things to the Sun. It was used in an attempt to kill 682. Somehow… 682 came back, but it was on fire.

SCP 049 is one of my favorite ones one of the most interesting scps in my opinion

There was a crooked man, who climbed a crooked tree, he grabbed the crooked limbs, and a crooked branch had broke free, he shuffled through crooked leaves, and landed on his crooked back, he screamed loud and crooked cries, when he heard a crooked crack.

My favorite SCP's are Scp-6373 "Stage Blight" and Scp-4000 "Taboo". I think you would like them.

682 is actually depicted in a concept art book for one of the Godzilla movies.

All the Keter anomalies have these incredible MMO boss or anime villain creature god thingy vibes. Just mesmerizingly cool :D

and if you think about it, when he glowed in the tickle slime video, its cuz he absorbed the tickle slime, then used its powers against the people

183 is a statue that moves when you blink and breaks knecks. They shived it in 682s area to see what it would do, 682 screamed, hid in a corner and grew hundreds of eyes to stare at it permenantly. They turned the lights off for 10 seconds and when they turned them back on 70% of 682s body was just.. Gone, with 183 standing on its shivering remains. This raises so many questions, and makes 183 even more concerning..

Yeah, 682 is a really good door into even more SCP content, since a lot of authors run through the "How does 682 combat being killed by this scary thing I invented that kills everything without fail" dilemma, since 682 is one of the first 10 big break out SCP, like Shy Guy, Plague Doctor, the Peanut (Who has been redesigned for reasons), & Infinite Ikea.

I don't recall ever hearing about 682 absorbing anything. He just ha sa power to adapt to things, kind of like extremely accelerated evolution

The SCP is a lot like looking up something on the TV Tropes website. You find a term you don't recognize & look it up...Then you find something mentioned there that you have to go look up...Rinse & repeat until you find out that you've blown a whole day & ind up sleeping at your desk. In this case, you reviewed up 999, which referred to 682 for your review, which refers to 079, 409, & others...Which will also get you drawn back to Tat's Top Videos & the Sedition series. It's all one, big ouroboros. Oh wait! That's also (one of the many) SCP-001 - The Ouroboros Cycle, which happens to be a video over at the SCP Explained channel! Oh well, this just reinforces the point I was making, doesn't it? 😉 Ever since companies switched from having Personnel Departments into Human Resources, we've *all* been put on the path that leads us to becoming D-Class. Expendable at their convenience. As mentioned in the video, did you ever hear of D-211? Well, if you don't become the next D-211, you might have a chance of meeting him someday...
