Either way, he's brilliant and a comedic genius, not to mention remarkably well read in all types of history of the world, etc. Go Eddie! Still have Dress to Kill recorded on a VHS tape, wayy before I knew anyone else that had heard of you. Was a pleasure to introduce anyone to his comedy.

This was the first concert I ever saw of Eddie Izzard. It was a VHS tape I found somewhere..funniest god dam thing I ever saw. The bit about how Engelbert Humperdinck chose his name had me in stitches, and how he uses a history lesson to make comedy

Stalin died lying on his bedroom floor and his guards were too damn scared to go in and check what the thump was when he fell over , and the doctors were shit scared when they finally came in to treat him and they ended up passing the buck between themselves until it was too late to do anything. Ruling through fear has some major downsides...

Charlie McTruth There's a difference between mentioning Hitler completely out of context to elicit a cheap reaction... And mentioning Hitler in a stand-up routine ABOUT EUROPEAN HISTORY. Just because morons on the internet with no point to make name-drop Hitler in a pathetic attempt to get attention doesn't mean there is NEVER a reason to mention him. I'm afraid many people had reason to talk about Hitler LONG before internet trolls made his name shorthand for: "Ignore Me--I Have Nothing Of Value To Say".

Eddie's always better when he has a mic planted on him. Holding the microphone in his later shows seems to impede with his free-flowing physical comedy. Do planted mics cost a lot of money these days or what?

+SethBlizzard Those mics are called Lavalier mics, and they cost about the same as a handheld (at least the good ones such made by Røde). Sometimes people like a handheld mic because it makes it easier to play with the volume and do sound effects - Eddie's Darth Vader is a good example of that. I guess he chooses his mic depending on what show he does.

My all-time favorite quote from this stand-up was his "Menachem Begin disguise kit badge". Everyone in the room looked at me like I was crazy, but you have to know who Menachem Begin was to get it. Brilliant!
