How to Eat RICE & Still Lose Weight (+Rice Recipes) | Joanna Soh
Are you a rice lover?
If you want to lose weight, the most common advice you tend to hear is to ditch rice totally because eating RICE CAN MAKE YOU FAT! Is rice really the culprit? Does rice really deserve the bad rap it has been getting?
Personally, I used to be “afraid” of rice, but after getting to know better its benefits and purpose, now, I eat rice every single day. And if you have seen my transformation, rice has helped with my energy level, improved my workouts and even reduce my body fat.
I’m sure you’re watching this video and wonder how can I include rice into my diet and lose weight. If you are a rice lover and don’t want to give up on rice while losing weight, watch this video and learn how you can do it!
1) Practice Portion Control
2) Pair it with Vegetables & Protein
3) Keep it as it is!
4) Consume Post-Workout (only for Endormophs)
Sustainable weight loss is a combination of regular exercise and a healthy diet. You don’t have to give up your favourite or staple foods like rice while you’re trying to lose weight!

Im asian, have been eating rice almost everyday for 40 yrs now. At least once if not twice a day. Rice give me energy to move the whole day and have a good workout session. It also helps to curb my appetite as i find i snack less if i have good rice meal. I am having an ideal body weight and never had any weight issues on a rice diet. I agree that the key is portion control and making sure there are other macro and micro nutrients.

I must have veg at least twice a day. I make it a habit not to sit down after eating but to walk to & fro for at least 15-20 minutes. I used to feel bloated but noticed it’s disappeared by doing this daily. Thanks for this video, you’re an inspiration. ❤️

Rice every day helps you diet as it leads to increased feelings of fullness, says study. Eating a daily portion of rice not only makes dieting easier, but is linked to improved all-round health. New research shows that consumers can improve their diets simply by enjoying white or brown rice as part of their daily meals 👍

I am definitely a rice lover. I Just finished eating some rice & veggies, while my family ate pizza😅… With rice apart of my daily meal preps, I lost 41 pounds in about 5 months. I was very consistent & I went right back to my pre-pregnancy size. Of course, I exercised about 5 days a week, drank about a gallon of water a day & towards the end of my dieting journey, I cut out meats and used a varieties of beans for my protein. (Personal preference). I only ate rice for dinner & I measured about 1 cup, along with veggies and protein. It kept me super full & IT WORKS… THANK YOU for this video. I got a lot of kickback from adding rice to my diet but I love my results & you gotta do what’s best for YOU. Don’t be afraid of #RICE… #GoodLuck guys. #TeamRice #WhiteRiceForMe

Love that you're spreading this idea because a lot of people think the notion of cutting rice on one's meal is the key to lose weight which I think is really wrong. One should not restrict oneself from foods but instead, having discipline and proper diet is!

As a volume eater I only eat at most half a cup of rice per meal and fill up the rest of my big bowl with veggies to make fried rice. Half a cup of rice is 100 kcal approximately, and I can make 2 cups of fried rice if I add all my veggies. If i use non-stick spray and skip flavorings like tomato paste/oyster sauce etc the total would prolly be 150-ish kcal the most, compared to 400 kcals of 2 cups of pure white rice. Low calorie and high fiber foods makes a huge difference.

I love rice! My homemade "fried" rice I make in my non-stick wok with either broth or very little oil like avocado or olive. I love it plain but when I want to flavor rice, quinoa or couscous I cook it in broth. Adds lovely flavor but little to no added fat. As always a very informative video. Thank-you

I eat huge servings of rice, I just love it! For me, it is truly fattening cuz I cannot control my portion sizes at all, especially in rice based dishes. In South India you get so many very varieties of rice dishes!💖

Coming back to your video years later. I have removed rice for a long time but finding that my body digests rice without causing weight gain. Big revelation and I'm lifting instead of cardio as an endomorph. I prefer it plain with a lot of veggies and a protein. Sticky rice is my preference. So I wanted to make sure I welcome it back with guidance. Hours after working out or fasting.

Hi Joanna i just want to thank you for this video. I am a subscriber and i just want to update you with my progress. I started keto diet and combination of your 45 minutes Strength workout. I lost 6 kilos and i am now in my weight goal. Thank you so much i've learned a lot and i started eating rice again coz i feel energized more while doing workout. But only 1 cup a day. I love the fact that because my body type is endomorph the strength training is more suitable for me. But you know what because of strength trainings Now i feel more strong and i can't imagine i can do 1,500 reps of sit ups. 😂😂 thank you thank you so much now i am not be afraid of the rice but i will surely do eat strictly after workout. Thank you Joanna 💕🥰💖

I have to admit, that I never heard that particularly about rice. Well, the advice is usually to avoid and minimize white and overly processed grains - including rice - in favor of less processed and nutrient richer food, e.g., brown rice and whole grains. And like Joanna's says - portion control. And I would avoid eating rice daily due to the arsenic that can be found in a lot of rice. And just eating other grains to include diversity - portion control and eatingdifferent kind of food.

Shout out to fellow endomorph! The struggle is REAL. Constantly feeling down, doubtful for not losing weight. Trying every method, thinking what work best for out bodies. Looking at the mirror, 'hello belly fat. You've been there in my entire time. Don't you think it's time for us to separate. Since I'm petite, at least I want to have slim, lean appearance. Lemme have my dream body goal, pleaseeee' 😭

I enjoyed the video very much. I’m definitely an endomorph Type body. I was 321 lbs and now I am 260 lbs. fasting , eating twice a day with no starchy foods ( rice, potatoes, bread and pasta). I seemed to hit a little plateau and have been exercising 5-6 days a week. My energy level is very low especially after my workouts. I believe it is because of the low carb factor. I will have rice post workout and see if there is a difference. Thank you!

I did try Keto and lost 8 kg in 6 weeks, but I realized that I couldn't do keto for the rest of my life. I didn't like the cult-like fear of carbs I sensed there. So I ditched sugar, junk/processed foods, and most carbs, but I decided that when I want to have some rice, I will have a small portion guilt-free. I still follow the wise principle of have veggies, a salad, protein and sometimes rice, if I feel like. I intermittent fast and eat OMAD with rebounding for exercise. I know this is sustainable for me. Thank you for this video, portion control and creating a daily calorie deficit are keys to success for sure.

I've lost 5kg in a month, by doing your exercises and diet tips. I can say that I'm not that strict, but I'm so happy for the result. Before watching your video about "why I eat rice...", I had a lot of doubt to add rice on my diet, because actually I love rice really much. I regularly do your low impact HIIT cardio at least twice a day, and 10000 step challenge everyday. Right now I also do your 1000 core challenge, it's just my second week, I hope I can do it until the end. I still have many numbers to loose, like 17kg to go😅. I hope I can keep consistent. Thanks for your motivation Jo. Salam from an Indonesian in Mexico. ****Typing this in half dead on the floor after completing 3 sets of low impact HIIT Cardio.😅
