I’m feeling called to use some red to work on a whimsical if not abstract landscape using watercolors and other mixed media. As with all of my painting projects here on KZread, I love to keep the process as simple as possible so I can use this time to relax and have fun. Whether you’re a beginner or a more seasoned artist, I hope you’ll feel called to join me!

Simply gorgeous. I love the colours and their developing impact with the layers. So satisfying to watch while listening to your gentle commentary. Hi Bernice 💕🤗 I'm so happy to see you're feeling inspired to play with red!! There is something really special about this color - it excites the senses and catches attention, doesn't it?! And, at the same time, I also find it tricky to use at times. Recently, I created this painting on 36 x 36 inch canvas and the background I created for it had a lot of red. When my husband first saw it, he was a little speechless 😂 It was a nice way for me to start and it was interesting to see how I was able to tone it down while still keeping some to the reds for interesting pops of color. I hope you have a ton of fun playing with your red!! ☺️🎨 Thank you for watching and for making the time to connect sweet friend 🤗💕

This is a beautiful painting the sunset/sunrise brings me hope that where I live, in Wales, I’ll see one eventually because almost every day for at least the last 3 or 4 months has been grey and wet and I’m so fed up with it. Thank you Gabrielle

I can imagine how challenging that would be! 😳 Hang in there my sweet friend ❤️🤗 Sunny skies are hopefully heading your way soon and with the sunny skies, hopefully you'll also have many beautiful blooms to enjoy. I love that you are able to find other ways to bring color into your life during this time. Painting is always a great way to save the day (for me anyway 💕). I have found the inconsistency of the Jelly Rolls on watercolour frustrating as well. I stick with the Uniball Signo now. They also come in gold, silver and a finer point for variety as well. Another beautiful painting this week. I never get tired of your compositions.

The Uniball Signos are my usual go to white pens as well ☺️ Their metallic pens are so much fun to play with too! My journals are very colorful because of these pens 🥰 But, I was pleasantly surprised by my Gelly Roll this week! Thank you so much for sharing your experience ❤️ And thank you for your kindness 🤗

This is a stunning piece. The contrast between the light and dark values is very effectve. ❤ thank you. Watching as always from Australia. The red with the yellow and neutral reminds me of a photo my cousin posted online of a beautiful late summer sunset off the West Australian coast where she lives. The sky was deep red and yellow and the water and land were values of the dark neutral. 😊

Thank you for this. I'm currently home from work with pneumonia and I knew just what I needed to watch. Your soothing voice and calming music always makes me feel better. I have followed many of your tutorials and will attempt this one when I'm feeling up to it. I'm also going to buy a stippling pen!

started a large mixed media page last saturday & yr tute helped me move to w/c [my ancient Windsor & newton travel palette from the 80's or 90's]... a dotting tool on the wish list down the road. Love yr finished piece (peace...always unfolding)...

If you're watching on a pc or laptop there are three dots on the right below the video, one of the options there is "save". If you click on that you get the choice "watch later". Alternatively you could just copy the video link in a text file. Or you follow this answer 🙂 🥰

Sometimes, KZread has these little glitches unfortunately. Someone recently told me the translation was not available for the video I had posted even though I had not changed my process for posting. Gorgeous! I ended up buying that stippling pen. It's going to take some practice, because my "dots" ended up looking like hairs! 🤣 I was probably holding it wrong, because yours look great. Hi Christie 💕🤗 There is definitely a cadence to using the dotting pen and I do find using it more upright helps (but this is not great for filming overhead 😂). I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I enjoy mine! 💕 I love that I can just hold my hand relatively straight and move it gently to create my stippling. I have so much less pain in my wrist since I started using this pen ✨ Oh my! A studio refresh!! Sounds fun ❤️ I'd love to see a pic when you're done (if you don't mind sharing 😉). Hi Lori 🤗💕 Thank you so much for your kind words! I love red but interestingly, it's not a color I wear a lot or use a lot in my paintings 🤔 Maybe we are all communicating telepathically 😁 When I paint, I often think of you and other viewers and what you might be thinking or how you might be reacting. This makes me smile and it almost feels like I have you here with me, sharing in my joy 🥰 I am feeling better, thank you ❤️ I have really made a concerted effort to focus on ''being here now'' and doing what I can do to stay healthy and well. Mainly, this means not letting my head get the better of me by letting worrying thoughts control what I do. I am also listening very intently and closely to what my body needs and wants. If that's rest, that's what I give it. With the days warming and the sun shining more and more, I'm getting excited about the upcoming new gardening season. I am observing nature and it brings me so much joy to see my daffodils and other coming out of the ground. Spring is such a hopeful season, isn't it ☺️ All of the artwork in my studio is my own and thank you for your kind words ☺️ I created this painting when I used to do a lot more fluid painting with acrylics. When it comes to creativity, I love exploring quite a bit. A skill in one medium often is transferable to other media. Aren't we lucky to have so much to learn and do?! ☺️ I hope this week has been treating you well my friend 🤗💕 Lots of love and great big hugs heading your way 💝

Hi Marie Louise 💕🤗 Thank you for your kind words! My color decisions usually reflect either a mood I'm feeling, something beautiful I observed in nature or even at times it can be as simple as seeing someone wearing a combination of colors I love and I go from there. But, by far, nature is my biggest source of inspiration - the changing seasons have so much to offer! Inspiration is all around us! ☺️
Denver is our sister city here in Canada and we are mountainous but far from the desert lol 😊
