Abstract Landscape - Watercolor and Mixed Media | 2024 - 22

The beauty of having no plan or a very loose plan when you're starting a painting is that it leaves all the room you need to allow for flexibility when happy and not so happy accidents happen. This abstract landscape process is a great chance for beginners and more seasoned watercolorists alike to practice gradient skills, to work with the effects of salt and to practice embracing the unexpected. I hope you'll want to grab your paints and join me for some creative zen time. :)

You are SO welcome! It was fun watching you paint with them. Wow, this is a beautiful painting! I can't wait to do this one. Thanks so much for sharing. 🌻 I don't know why, but I REALLY love that magic green asemic writing line you did near the top. It's just the icing on the cake. ♥

💕🤗 I just LOVE these colors!!! They are so rich and such a joy to create with, so thank you again my friend! ❤️ I'm so happy you're feeling inspired to give it a go too! ☺️ And yes to that Magic Green, right??!! I know some people think squiggly lines ( or asemic writing as you so much more justly and eloquently call it 💕), but for me, they are so eye catching and fun! They kind of draw us in to see if there's a hidden message and even when there isn't one, they just make me smile. Thank you for your kindness and for being here with me Christie 🤗❤️ I appreciate you!!
Thank you honey for sharing your wisdom and talents♥️♥️♥️

Very pretty and unusual. I really like where ink or paint seeped underneath!

Thank you Terri 🤗💕 I love that too!! Isn't neat how somethings that happen "accidentally" can turn into something we love?! 🎨😁
I love the contrast of the straight lines and dots with the more organic “happy accidents” in this painting! ❤

Thanks for showing this important video, dear Gabrielle😍💞. I'm very good in making mistakes🙈😅 and I learned to tell myself about "happy accidents" :D. The way you worked it out in your process is very encouraging and the end effects are spectacular. Thanks so much dear💞❣

Hello again ❤️💕❤️ I'm so glad you enjoyed this video Trixi! 🤗 Embracing creative accidents is the way I try to roll and I'm sure most of us could benefit from this because most of us probably make ''mistakes'' when we are creating 😂 That's just the way it goes, as you know 🤗 Thank you for making the time to watch and connect with me 💕 It means a lot xoxo
This is so pretty! Love the colors and details!

Very interesting technique! When you first started, my least favorite color grouping was the greens. As you finished the painting, I was in love with the green area!

Thank you so much for being here and sharing your perspective with me ❤️🤗 Green is my favorite color and yet, I agree that it can be a little overwhelming (yellow and red do that for me too) at first. Usually when I combine them with other colors I don't find quite so obnoxious 😂 they seem to be toned down and then I love their presence in the painting again. ☺️

This was a soothing end to a sad day for me. I love the colours and patterns and most of all your approach when things don’t go as you may have wished. Accepting what has happened and choosing to appreciate what we have is a powerful thing in life as well. Wishing you a gentle week..hope the veggies are growing well! B xx 💫💙

Lots of love and great big virtual hugs are heading your way. I hope life is kinder to you today xoxo
Since I discovered your channel I look forward to Wednesdays and your next painting. I would like to paint an abstract ocean waves onto the sand but I’m not sure how to go about it! I have never done this type of painting before, but I find watching you paining very relaxing!

Hi Ruth ❤️🤗 Thank you so much for being here with me every Wednesday! 💕 I'm so glad you find my channel relaxing. A little while ago, I actually painted an abstract akin (though not exactly) to what you describe wanting to try. Here's the link for this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/d5yTlJKdiaepj5s.html. I wonder if you tried something similar to this and added a sand color at the bottom of your painting along with another "smudged line" of white ink between the water and the sand, if that could work? I hope you try it and please let me know how you make out! ☺️
This is stunning! Inspired to try it :-) Thank you

Beautiful! 😍 I have a question about using salt. Because I have used it and it works but does temperature and climate affect it? I have had experience with salt melting instead of drying. Thanks Gabrielle I love this landscape 😊❤
@polgara28

When it melts like that, it usually means the paper was a bit too wet still, wait around 30-60 seconds more and it will work a bit better. While the paper/paint is wet, but the shine is gone if that makes sense. 🌻
@lindakuck5981

@polgara28 Yes, that makes sense, and I think paper also might make a difference because some hold water differently. Thank you. I thought that humidity might have something to do with it too.
@polgara28
28 күн бұрын
@@lindakuck5981 I bet it does! You know, I've never considered the paper itself in the equation! Thanks for that! Now I need to play around with that. Happy painting!

Thank you for your kindness and question Linda ❤️☺️ I agree with @polgara28 (thank you ) that the salt usually melts because there is still too much water on the paper. I think temperature and climate mostly affect how quickly your paper will dry and this can have an effect on the salt if your paint dries before you can add salt to it. I also find some papers to be more porous than others and this can surely also have an effect like you mentioned 😉 It's fun to have these discussions and I appreciate you making the time to reach out! 🤗
