Easy Watercolor and Mixed Media Art to Relax | 2024 - 20

This week I’m working on something reminiscent of neurographic art. I’m going to be creating an easy, bright and cheerful painting full of circles and the process is going to be very mindful and meditative. I hope you’ll grab a few or your favorite watercolors and join me for some creative fun!

There's that moment when you're peeling off the artist tape, jumbled all around with paints, and you see the crisp sharp lines that surround what you've created and there's a WOW factor going on that can give you such a sense of wonder and awe, a sense of pride and accomplishment. I did this!

Hi Gabrielle 👋 I love this week's painting! The colors are beautiful, and of course, I love the way the colors interacted with each other! 😍 I have always been drawn to circles when I create too! Adding the black background makes them really pop! 🤩 I really think I make it too complicated! I have so many unfinished paintings, because I think I have to make the "right" marks and I'm not confident about how and where too add contrast. I don't want to "ruin" a background that I love! I know there's really not a right or wrong way to do it! 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️I'm sure the more I do it, I will become more comfortable with the decisions I make. My favorite part is the painting. 🎨🖌️ I thought I was posting a comment on someone's video I watched the other day, and after I sent the comment, I saw a message pop up that said the comment couldn't be posted or sent at that time (I don't remember the exact words). I'm guessing that's what happened to the comment I thought I had left you a few weeks ago. I am going to have to pay attention to that now. 🤷‍♀️. It makes me feel better, knowing I did try to post on your video and that I probably got that same message, but I didn't see it! I was second guessing my memory. 😂 It happens a lot these days! 🤦‍♀️ I had a nice quiet week to myself, but the silence was really strange the first couple of days. My husband and daughter had a fantastic time! It's the first time in a long time, I could see a genuine smile on her face (pictures) and hear excitement in her voice! 🙌🙏💞 Of course that made me very happy! I hope you're having a good weekend! I hope you've been able to enjoy some gardening! Love and hugs my friend! 💗🤗

Hi Lori 💕🤗 Thank you so much for being here with me and giving me yet another reason to smile and feel the love ❤️ I love watching paints interact together and sometimes, the "backgrounds" are so pretty, that in itself makes it harder to move forward and add to it 😉 It reminds me of when I use to do fluid acrylic paintings - I could have sat and just watched the paint move on my canvases for hours 😂 I do love to push myself to "let go" of these backgrounds so I can make space for other possibilities. And you're absolutely right that the more we do what we find uncomfortable, the more it becomes easier and more comfortable. ☺️ I'm so happy to see you had a great week and that your husband and daughter had a great week together as well. ❤️ There is something really heart warming about seeing the people we love having fun and being happy. I love how Damien is all smiles and talks with so much enthusiasm about his mountain biking adventures. It somehow helps me also realize how good it is for us to have our own little things to cherish and then to share the stories with each other later is so special. 💕 Oh my do I know what you mean about second guessing one's memory!! I feel like perimenopause has me doing that a LOT! (Well, at least I think the issue is perimenopause... 🤔 That's my story and I may as well stick with it 😂) I always love to hear from you and if a message doesn't show, I probably wouldn't know one was supposed to be there to begin with so it's no problem. I do my best to stay on top of messages, but sometimes life pulls me in a different direction so I do what needs to be done and try not to worry about it. Damien and I built a big raised garden bed last weekend and I'm starting to plant some veggies and flowers. Oh how I love this time of the year! 💕 My days are very creative and full whether it's inside or outside and for that I could not be happier. 🥰 I go to bed so tired every night that I'm actually sleeping better ☺️ I hope your week is going well and that the sun is shining in your little corner of our beautiful world. Big hugs and lots of love heading your way sweet friend 🤗💕

Your replies always make my heart so happy! 😊 How nice that you put in the big garden bed, you're going to enjoy that! I LOVE flowers, I wish I could tell you I am a veggie lover but... 😂 I like them more in salads, or if someone else cooks them. 😂 You sounded a little quieter this week, I hope you weren't having a more painful week. 🤗 Girlfriend, I started perimenopause much too young, the forgetfulness is no lie!! 🤯🤦‍♀️ The hot flashes are no fun either! 🥵 It makes me happy that you and Damien have so much in common, you communicate well, and you're interested in hearing about each other's interests! You are very blessed to have that, as I'm sure you both know! 👩‍❤️‍👨🥰 Thank you for making me smile each week! I may not reply quickly (because I take too long to figure out what to write 🙄), but I think about you, and pray to God for you and your family everyday! Love you. 💖🫶🙏

@@love2create62 You are such a sweet and kind soul!! ❤ I feel so blessed to have connected with you here! 🥰 Yes, I was very very mellow last week - probably more exhausted from all the work we've been doing in our yard than anything else. Interestingly enough, I'm finding that my pain seems to subside the more active I am ☺🤔 I'm not really sure if it's just a coincidence, the weather or what, but I'll take it 😁🙏🏿✨❤ Hehehe on the veggie front! I hated veggies for so long, I get it! 😂 It wasn't until I had no access to them that I started craving Now, I've found my favorite ways of cooking them or eating them and I have to have them every day. There's something neat about growing them and also knowing what went into getting them to my plate. I promise to share pics of my flowers and I'll keep my veggies to myself 😉😂 No worries about when the replies come! Technology is my biggest hindrance and I don't always see them right away anyway 😂 Thank you for the giggles and all the love you send my way! Sending lots back to you too!💕🤗

Hallooo, darling! Once again, you have provided me with a restive space to take a breath and relax watching you paint. I, too, adore circles! I have them in just about every painting I do. I have only started art journaling in the last year or so. I have always worked big in oil or acrylics. I have found some lovely peace and solace in working smaller and in WC. I am also doing more neuropathic art which is so zen & calming! Yours is one of my favourite channels. I am so grateful to you for bringing us so much joy, my dear. Thank you! Love and Bless xoxo

Such a gentle, meditative video ..very calming to watch. The background colours and textures are beautiful and the stippling blends in with the black softening all the edges. I really like the moment when you explore the detail by zooming in as it reveals hidden gems of delight! I find it relaxing to let colours bloom and swirl randomly on wet paper …then find shapes and patterns to highlight when the paint is dry. Wishing you happy moments all week! B xx 💫💙

It took me a while to get the hang of it, too! A lot of people say that it's all about the timing, which is true, but that's not all that effects the outcome. Salt seems to react better with transparent, non-granulating colors, such as the azos, phthalos and quins. I can get a reaction with earth tones sometimes, but it's a lot trickier. It takes practice to get a consistent result. Good luck!
