Easiest way to create texture in Rhino7 (File in description)
In This Video we will see how to create a knurling pattern in Rhino. While this could be normaly done with a displacement map in a rendering software such as keyshot, the nature of the knob geometry doesn't allways allows it. I will show you how to create this knurling with surface tool in Rhino.

Interesting approach to texturing! thank you for the great idea!!
You make it simple ( Thanks alot ) it was deeply needed for a project ( in university) 😂
Awesome tutorial. Thank you!
Thank you for this! Super cool video! A+++
i was in the middle of project on modeling a midi player haha and your video help me so much. Very informative and straight forward!

@@DuterqueStudio how to make the pepper mill in rhino ( useful for product designers)
Great video. Very advanced
It's amazing 😍
good tuctorial. congrats
it is great, the shape is formed with a special method, we can use flow along the surface, but other directions don't been normal vector in this design method me.😍🤩❤🙏👊
Thank you dear man, you helped me a lot!I wish you all the best!!! My like and subscription are required!
There is another way with displacement textures but this is a good modelling guide!

Thanks, You can do texture with displacement but in this case you will end up with gaps between the side part and the groove edge
Very very nice sir
best

what are your render preview settings?
hey! very nice video- excactly what I am looking for ... just one problem, after I cut the first group of helixes out of my shape, I get a error when I cut the second group out... boolean was no sucessful - can you guess why that is when the first section works well? thanks!

It’s possible that your first boolean generated an open polysurface (if you select it, in the property tab you can see if it’s an open or close polysurface). If that’s the case it might be that the helixes boundaries are too close to the boundary of your shape, try scaling them up slightly and then again the first Boolean

@@DuterqueStudio very nice thank you! I scaled them up and it actually worked!
@DuterqueStudio

How do you make that xyz arrows show when you select your object? To have that posiblities to move them by dragging ? I dint see that one in my rhino. 07:45 for example

You need to click on “gumball” at the bottom of the window to toggle it(if you are on windows), and and at the top if you’re on mac
Use command Copy/in place instead of Ctrl C + Ctrl V to save ram

Yes, great tip 👍🏻
Using 3D Coat this will be in seconds. Anyway those models from 360, rhino, has bad wireframe... But 3D Coat you can retopo in minutes.

3D Coat is a polygonal software, it's not intended for industrial design and manufacturing

Um, Rhino is for design development, not for eye candy. Precise geometry is the point. That's why Rhino is a standard in architecture and industrial design, especially when it comes to parametric designs that are determined by math (Grashopper). After the designers, engineering and tool-making are taking over anyway and they will model the geometry usually from scratch anyway.
