1270mm Dynam F4U Corsair maiden. This is the first WW2 warbird flight for me and it was excellent. Easy takeoff with no torque roll, 100% rates on ailerons and elevator was too much, 50% is a good rate to start with and 30% expo. Long grass landings were OK on the belly and even on wheels with some care. Great fun, highly recommended.

    It never ceases to amaze me just how nervous we get when doing maidens. Its only a flying esky and yet we get knots in our stomachs like we're bungy jumping. I told you Corsairs fly well and Dynams are a good kit. Well done mate..........NEXT!!!!!!

    looks fantastic in the air! You're going to have a lot of fun with that one. I know a few guys that fly scale warbirds and they're fond of cc3d and naze boards to give them a more scale like flying profile.

    Nice work, I'm not normally a warbird guy, but I have a Dynam Tiger Moth, flies beautifully, like your Corsair. I too had that weird pulsing you mentioned, the ESC it came with actually failed after only 15 flights or so. Replaced it with a trusty old 60A Plush I had on hand, been going great ever since. Excellent model, but I wasn't impressed by the ESC.

    Howdy Andrew, fantastic maiden & glad you toned down those rates. They can be WILD on these warbirds. Also super glad you got it to stall on a turn, I only just saved the hurricane the other day from doing that, seeing you do that cheered me up (as you're way more experienced than me!). And of course, it did look amazing in the air too! Matt

    Great job mate! you nailed it with the looks and adrenalin rush, shes a beauty in the air. Very nice adjustment in landing techniques, you can see the difference with last ones. for the next flight, Get her trimmed up and get another 15degrees of "stick" (throttle) into it!! "Scale" flight with warbirds is still fast. 85mph-140kmp and she'll fly like it's on rails..... I promise!! :D

    Getting there. I need to go back and strengthen the wing join and secure the clevises. Maybe beef up the hinges too. Then it's full throttle

    Hi Andrew Thanks mate that was lovely. I still have mine in it's box to scared to give it a try. I would like to thankyou for all the videos you share with us. Each video is filled with honest tried and tested reviews which is second none. I am still learning to fly and taking baby steps. Lucky for me my daughter 11 yrs old and sons 10 yrs old and 6 yrs old are keen to learn also. We are learning on the wmpf magnum reloaded foam plane.

    Hello Andrew, No I have not heard of Martin. But will certainly have a look. What is your thoughts on the Flysky fs-i6s vs Flysky fs-i6x ? Form what little I know apart from both being 10 channel. The i6s only has 5 model memory and the i6x has 20 model memory. I am in process of building an AXN mainly bought one because of Bruce from rcmodelreviews highly recommends them. I have had some good flights with the delta ray and hoping to give the AXN a go. I hope you don't mind me bothering you from time to time with my questions. :)

  • @AndrewNewton

    @AndrewNewton

    Not a problem at all Keith, I love chatting about this stuff. My preference would be for the i6X with physical trim switches and more model memory slots. Cant go wrong with the AXN or Bixler style planes, I flew my Bixler just a few hours ago.

    We have been having ramdom rain in the afternoons here in Darwin. So being self employed I normally sneak in to club and teach myself in between jobs. But not often enough. I have been building a phoenix boomerang 60 size tossing up using 60size brushless motor against 17cc gas engine. What would be your thoughts of power plant? Yes I agree with you thoughts on the I6x and trying to buy one from banggood but unable to add it to my cart. But I thought with the i6s the buttons on the back off transmitter work as trim buttons? Please correct me if I am wrong.

  • @AndrewNewton

    @AndrewNewton

    Yes I believe that is how you adjust trim but other reviewers say its awkward.

  • @jeepman012

    Nice Flying, It's always a bit daunting putting a new RC plane in the air, Whenever I fly I always set up my Transmitter with D/R, On my DX9 I have 3 positions for each surface ,,Ail,,Ele and Rudder, I normally take off on position 2, the if the Plane is twitchy I can lower the D/R for that control, It helps with the unknown , Nice Video.
