Your water level is on the same level of the stream or higher, that deep you reached a subterranean deposit or river. I did the same on my propriety, the water quality is much better, and doesn't dry in the summer. Anyway you should test the water, quimical and bacterial.

Congrats. 35 story high is 45 feet taller than the Statue of Liberty from pedestal to torch and more than twice as high as Niagara Falls. That’s deep. Here in Chile when they drilled, because we are close to the mountains we had water at 2 meters and the well is 20 meters deep and we never miss water even in the really hot summer months when drought is around us. There is nothing like having your own well. I’m really happy for you guys. That crew worked really hard and I am happy you filmed them so that their families can have this process on KZread and be proud of their dad or/and son and see how hard they work.

I just watched a lady have her well dug. 570 she had gushing water. As all is well water folks know, what you have per gallon one day. May NOT be what you get per gallon tomorrow. Save water, collect rain water. It pays in the long run! Then again, there may never be a problem. Well water is a funny thing. My grandparents had a well dry up for almost 20 years. Grandpa passed, around 2 years later, just of curiosity. Had it checked, working perfectly. So we use that now for farm work and animals. I wish all well water users The best of luck and future luck! 🩷🌎🩵

Wow, that shot at 17:11 with the clouds was spectacular. I felt like I was watching the Old Faithful geyser at Yellowstone, but it was clouds in the sky. What an incredible job they did drilling the well. It is so amazing how they can dig so deep and that the hole doesn't collapse in on itself before the tubes get put down the hole. What a lot of physical labor for them too, carrying those heavy drilling pipes. Congrats on your new umbilical cord to Mother Nature.

I have sunk many bores in Australia and just look at the land profile and it always works. The water table is easy to find. My father was a well driller in Western Montana for 50 years. He never put much value in water witching. He went more with his knowledge of the area. He would agree about the place which was best for the property. His machinery was much larger; however the drilling was roughly similar. We’ll be able to redraw the property lines for the mill after we get the habitation license but we can’t get the habitation license until after the septic, electricity, etc. is complete. But after that we will most likely move/change the septic system at that point - later down the line

2 steel coat hangers work great for a divining rod. It's a great way to find an underground water source or stream. I do a criss-cross pattern to locate an underground stream or waterline. It's best to do this during a drought year, so you will get the absolute best source for volume. I bend a 90° angle on each coat hanger. Leave just enough for the hand and the other length about 12 inches. When the 2 coat hangers cross, you will be above water. Start out first but going over a bowl or gallon of water and then graduate up to finding the underground waterline of an existing home.

maybe explain why they drilled the bore hole so high on your property and how it's safe to put a septic so near to it and on the edge of a terrace congratulations on a huge step forward

We will do a closed tank septic system to start, because the property lines for the mill literally hug the perimeter of the home, except in that one raised area, we have no choice but to put the septic there. We’ll be able to redraw the property lines for the mill after we get the habitation license but we can’t get the habitation license until after the septic, electricity, etc. is complete. But after that we will most likely move/change the septic system at that point - later down the line

How about a future carport with solar panels on its roof ? Personally, I don't like the idea of solar panels on a homes roof, but a carport roof that is away from the house 👍

congratulations on your water drill, was hoping you were going to put a fancy well in like the ones you've been collecting from, ohhh well, maybe the next one lol water is precious & too many of us take it for granted, another Australian here who knows what it's like to rely on the heavens & tanks for water through out the years, lived in many with only rain water tanks; am lucky in this house as am hooked up to the mains but having extra water is always a good thing thanx for sharing

Fascinating to watch and loved the crews excitement to actually have their work documented and appreciated. You have learned so much and the quality of your videos show it. Catching different great angles in each scene is top notch and then the expert editing. Bravo. I used to be involved in production from shooting through to final product working with all of the experts along the way and I've been told I have too critical an eye for detail (pleased with that reputation 😉) but it always makes a difference in telling whatever 'story' you have worked on. Excited to see the next step! Sending 💚from CT, US.

A home I had in Idaho, the well was 421ft deep before they struck anything that was moist, another 30 feet they hit the Snake River Aquafer with enough pressure a cap and regulator were required to get it done to household pressure. Directly across the road a small subdivision was put in a few years after I had moved. They hit water at just over 200 feet. Go figure. Congrats.

I use an air pump to bring water up from my well. It’s a geyser pump and brings water to my 20ft above ground water tank. Using solar it’s more efficient to store energy in compressed air.

Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Adventure! What an incredible milestone to have your own water well drilled on your off-grid homestead in Portugal. The anticipation and patience you've shown over the past year truly highlight the dedication and commitment required for sustainable living. With your well now in place, supplying water to the mill, you've taken a significant step towards self-sufficiency and resilience. It's inspiring to see your dream turn into reality, and I'm sure this episode will resonate with many who aspire to live off the grid. Thank you for sharing this exciting moment with us. Your journey is a testament to the rewards of perseverance and the fulfillment that comes from living in harmony with nature. Here's to many more adventures on your homestead! 🌿💧

I've seen that on US TV for years of people using divining rods. We have a well and septic in Oregon. Love that we only pay for electricity which is really low since we live on the coast and the weather is temperate and pay for trash service. No solar but that's ok since our electric is so low. Your place is looking good. Kathleen
