Thanks for the video. Suggestion for doing metal inserts into wood. Do not use, like on the metal insert you had the flat head screw driver, take the bolt you will be using and two nuts put the two nut on the bolt put the insert on the bolt jam the nuts onto the insert. Drill you hole into your wood part, then chemfer the hole. now use the bolt with insert attached to put it into the hole you made. Where I worked building furniture we used the bolt method and a drill press to put in all the nut cert into everything. Just for information worked 19 years building wood furniture. If you want to use a hand drill just cut the head of the bolt off and do it the easy way. If you want the insert to go in straighter drill a hole the size of the insert and use it as a guide.

Just a small plumbing note. Water always gets under the edges of sinks and faucets. What I do is seal them silicone. Doesn't take much, just a thin bead and wipe away all excess. I've done this with kitchen and bath sinks and faucets.

I like seeing you guys do your thing, like you say "'this is a how we're doing this video, not a how to'". Last thing: I love how much you love and care for that doggo. Best wishes.

Two items from the "It's too late, Baby" department: When cutting with a panel saw, always cut finish side down. The leading saw teeth will be cutting INTO the finish rather than coming OUT of it. Second, especially in a small sink, always set the spigot off to one corner as far as possible. With the spout in the middle, trying to wash anything much bigger than a saucer is a problem because you are always banging into (or trying to avoid) your nice new spout particularly with pots and pans. You could always get a nice stainless plug (or soap dispenser) for the old hole and move it, if so inclined. Other than that, great job!

Your going to need to provide some form of ventilation for the fridge. The heat it expels out the back needs somewhere to go, otherwise, it won't cool properly and likely won't last very long.

  • @paulascott451

    @paulascott451

    5 күн бұрын

That's the first thing I thought of as well. If you don't let that fridge get some air circulation it's going to overheat and shorten the life for the fridge as well as use a lot more power just to try and stay cool. You can replace that left side trim piece with a louvered or slotted one and put a small DC powered fan under the fridge blowing towards the back and that will push the hot air out and around the left side of the fridge. And being DC powered, it won't be a shock hazard if anything spills on the floor in that location. You will have to make sure to replace that fridge-side kick with a louvered one or at least with a 1.5" gap at the top where you can't see it but air can get in.

Some of the newer mini fridge designs have the condenser coils in the side panels and need all around air circulation, not just the back.

Looking good, however good practise would suggest putting a thin film of waterproof sealant under the lip of the sink, hob and tap unit - if water does get inside it will puff/expand the chipboard of the worktop.

I would cut in Air slots in the toe kick for the for the refrigerator, and they need air circulation to work properly and not over heat causing the compressor to fail. your build looks great. You need to build a few for an Air B&B to place on the on the land where the old cabin is being torn down.

When I saw boons legs slip on the smooth floor it reminded me of my beagle named Diesel, he got to a point where his leg muscles after a torn knee wouldn’t have enough stretch to keep his back legs from sliding out on our smooth laminate floor, so I bought some 1/8” surgical/latex tubing, cut it in small pieces and used a drip of alcohol to make slipping them over his nails easier. With those on his nails he had great traction in his older years with us. Replaced them maybe once a week when they would wear off but there was nothing i wouldn’t of done for my Diesel. Had him for 17.5 wonderful years. I’m happy to see another dog owner willing to spend money to help them rather than just put them down 😞.

I felt a little cheated when you desaturate (the color) at 09:00 before installing the first cabinet face. It robs us of the joy of enjoying Courtney's awesome red hair beauty! Boone has a little backstage work which is extremely helpful to his longevity. Glad that was so effective! (How did Boone get his name? You haven't lived near Boones Ferry Road, right? That was named for a relative of Daniel Boone.) A track saw might be on my shopping list thanks to your recent experiences. Do you sponsor any deals? Or guidance to the best model? Ollie is exhibited extremely well in this video! He is all smiles and inspires even more joy, just like the rest of you! Riley, this *!* is an exclamation mark. Not an "explanation" mark! I would seal the sink to the counter with silicone, water will find a way in there and as soon as it hits the cut edge of that countertop it will swell and warp. It's also a place where mold likes to grow if it gets wet. Also not a bad idea to put a coating of silicone around the inside of the hole you drilled for the faucet, in the event it ever leaks (I've had it happen with brand new faucets before).

You can buy steel vent strips for refrigerator installation at home Depot. You do need one on top and bottom for the fridge to cool correctly. You can also just cut some out in your shop. The fridge will not survive in a closed cabinet. Refrigeration fires do happen more than you hear about if your not in the business. I did retail store installations in convince stores for a couple of years.

Hole Saw. Try the impact driver if your arbor bit has the detent for the impact. It's weird and it wasn't intentional, but I couldn't find my drill and the arbor had the detent in it so I grabbed the impact and it worked amazingly well on a 2.5" hole through 1.5" of wood and 1/2" of plywood. Super smooth and easy. So, hole saw bits tend to "grab" aggressively like your's did in this video. I think the impact driver works so well because it hammers and slows down rather than powering through when the bit grabs. Super weird and unexpected, but try it if your arbor bits have the detent.

You made that fridge panel attachment waaaayyyyy more complicated that it needed to be. Two strips of Gorilla Tough & Clear Double Sided Mounting Tape and 4 blobs of construction adhesive was all you needed. No drilling, no screwing, just make sure it is aligned when you stick it on because it is never coming off. I used this method to put a stainless steel back splash behind our range and it has never moved.

Buy the glass drawer side panels, it really finishes off the kitchen and many people don't know they exist. Don't lose all the white covers that snap into the metal frames of the drawers either, they're commonly lost and look super unfinished when missing. For the cabinet with the sink, seal the seams with white silicone so the cabinet doesn't get destroyed if there's ever a water leak.

I'm always amazed that people don't bother to use glue on the dowels when building units, nor using sealant around the worktop cuts to prevent moisture and under the sink lip. Far easier to do it now, than try to sort it out later. Cutting the worktop and the kicker from the back will reduce the chance of the face splintering. Glad that Boone got diagnosed and sorted 🐕🐕

I could be wrong but I swear that looked like an IKEA commercial. We bought that kind of cabinetry for years because we loved the look as well as how we were able to build it ourselves. OMG I love you humans just the way you took care of Boone. Cheers ❤😊❤

Don't forget the venting needs of the mini fridge. Some way for the heat to escape the back!

Again, you two are nothing short of amazing. Your vision for completed projects is spot on, even though you talk as if you're flying by the seat of your pants. Thanks for all that you do, and for sharing it with us.

Get well soon Boone! Your builds are so smooth and professional, very impressive. Best container house I've ever seen. Riley might be blind without Courtney. I once went to the hospital with a wire from a wire wheel sticking out of my eye. I never forgot safety glasses again. Take care, have fun.

Thanks for showing the multi tool use on the cooktop install. I have a fall project that will involve depth control. I couldn't think how the control depth. The multi tool will do the trick.

You can find an old flare mower with a good roller pin on it build you up some legs so you can mount it to the rear end of the c train. And make a temporary toe tongue for the front of it and tow it. Or rent a very large forklift

Issues that I see from left to right: Need air flow behind the fridge to remove condenser heat. Verify that the metal strip below the cooktop (The strip that you removed the screw from) does not get super hot when the cooktop is turned on. Add caulk to the bottom lip of the sink prior to dropping it into the hole.
