How people viewed DDP reminds me of how fans viewed Charles Oliveira, even after he became champions. Always finding reasons why he can't beat the guy in front of him regardless of what he did in the previous fight.

The moment he took that first round from Rob, I knew he was gonna be a threat. I didn't think he would get through Strickland but had DDP winning 3-2 at the end. Hope he keeps the belt for a while, Stilknocks is a great fighter

DDP showed the world he can throw down 🥊 with the elite. Even Sean Strickland gave him abit of respect at the end of it .

I had DDP in all of his fights coming into the UFC. After both of the Soldič fights in KSW I knew he was going to be a fucking problem. The team he has game plans well and his output is one of the highest out there which just crumbles people.

I feel somewhat conflicted. On one side i feel like strickland won but on the other side im happy Africa finally has a real African champion. One born in africa, living in africa, training in africa who breathes african air. Thats quite a feat ! Hats off to DDP

People like to underestimate South Africans, but fighting is in our blood, it’s a hard country to grow up in and it makes for extremely tough and tenacious fighters. Behind the tough exterior you will find the friendliest and most sincere and caring personalities though, if people just give Dricus the chance I guarantee he will climb into their hearts and be everyone’s champion.

@@srr3097 the hard illegal headbutt that had both their heads smash the fence. It caused blood on Strickland that judges counted as damage. Watch gurus breakdown at 3min 34secs it's in slow motion so it doesn't look bad, even the stop frame you can't really tell. When you see it full speed you can tell it was a really hard headbutt and the blood right after how it smeared kinda proves it. I don't think it was intentional but it was a fluke and without it, Strickland wouldn't have had much of a mark on him plus it could have been a no contest and he remained the belt, or the points not scored. You can call it cope or what not but it was a fluke.

A lot of the more recent US fans haven't gone back and watched his fights to understand why we had faith in him here at home. His fights in EFC and his Jiu Jitsu matchups at Submission Kings. We've beeeeeeeen watching him.

There's nothing South Africans love more, we thrive when we're the under dogs. The springboks are a prime example.

You Just got yourself an South-African subscriber 🎉 That's why he said; they don't know what we know. While the world pushed him aside, we South-Africans believed in him. With no support from the government etc. We stood behind him and couldn't be prouder, even if he lost that fight we would still be just as proud of our boy!!!!!
