When we purchased our HD3 we didn’t have a weighing system so we went with the Te Pari T30 as we felt it was designed around their stock handling equipment specifically. We then purchased our Te Pari cattle crush which our T30 tablet will connect to also, then we purchased the Revolution Dosing gun with the medium and large barrels to work with both oral drenching of sheep, and back line applications with cattle. The dosing gun is just so easy to use.

Do this mob operate in Australia? Our crush set up is stuffed. I haven’t thought about scales going by eye typically. Also only selectively drenching but your set up looks mint. Looking at replacing our current set up & open to new ideas if they bring efficiencies particularly given we seem to use such expensive drench these days we’re always looking for efficient options. Great video👌💪👍

Great video again. Provided you need to weigh the stock for other management reasons the drenching gun will improve quality, however the time weighing just to save a few cents on drench per animal may undervalue your time. For myself with only 600 su we make cost savings being just big enough to buy medium size drench quantities and budgeting it to last a few years potentially our biggest wasteage is having left over drench at the expiry date.

Agreed, its not for everyone.

Those savings must add up over a year and ifetime of the gun. How expensive and can it be repaired? Does it need special maintenance from you?

This set up is about $1500 nz dollars. There are heaps of replacement parts for the gun. maintenance is just cleaning and charging battery's.

Can you show your working dogs one by one I'm shepherding up north sheep and beef

Based on the savings you calculated, if that mob of heifers was drenched 4 times per year it would take 15 years to pay for the cost of the drench system. Most of us would not make an investment that had a 15 year payback period. I am all in favour of precision agriculture but it has to make financial sense I believe.

I agree, its different for size of operation. Some Dairy farmers drench their cows at dry off, 500 cows with a 100kg weight range between average and max weight. Would save a lot of money. also depends on cost of drench.

@KiwiJim13 Well, no. You have the issue of drench resistance with whatever gun you use. This gun is to save money by reducing the amount of drench you use.

I get the point and they're pretty cool, but given how easy it is to adjust a pour on gun if you're running them over the scale, it just isn't worth it for me. We drench to nearest ml with cattle anyway, just need to do some quick maths. Something that somehow worked with a race full of lambs on the other hand... Yeah I know, no way of adjusting dosage without knowing their weight, but that would be the real money saver for us.
