Actually, I thought up a better concept of this potential sequel to the beloved HTTYD franchise: In the post-modern era, humanity was gearing up for the greatest technological advancement in ages: harnessing the raw energy of the molten earth. But when they began to drill deeper underground than anyone ever had before, they accidentally stumbled upon a Dragon Nest (one part of the Hidden World that's spread throughout beneath the surface like a labyrinth), which ended up waking up the dragons and sending them into a fury. A chain reaction is practically set off; the mining teams panic and try to retreat, the governments send in the military to deal with the "pests," but only end up triggering the awakening of more Dragon Nests. Then almost every dragon in the Hidden World has been unleashed onto the surface, attacking every nation in the world and sending humanity into a downward spiral of chaos and discord. Being in a post-modern era, humanity does the one thing they think they can do best in order to survive: escape to the Moon via government-mandated Arks (which they had originally planned for the journey to Mars). But not everyone makes it onto the Arks, and a majority of the populace is forced to hide in bunkers or caves and wait out the end. Then the dragons commit the unthinkable. They simultaneously target every nuclear plant in the world and set them off, destroying the surface and forever altering the landscape and seas of the world. The survivors who escaped to the Moon can only watch as the Earth's surface is blurred and transformed before their very eyes. However, the dragons also do something unexpected. Not only do they survive the nuclear blasts, but they also use a special sort of connection with the Hidden World that casts protective shields around places and cities that they've claimed, and some smaller ones huddle down in the bunkers with the other human survivors and preserve those as well. After a while, the survivors on Earth reemerge and are greeted by a wasteland dotted with preserved cities and islands, Dragon Nests, all ruled by dragons. Some humans tough it out and seek out the nearest cities to take shelter and fight off the dragons who try to attack them. Other humans refuse to set one foot outside and retreat back into the bunkers to wait out their inevitable end, and others take a more... drastic approach at escaping their potential suffering. Sorry for rambling like that, but that's the basic premise so far. I can only explain this much on KZread, but I hope to be able to discuss this idea with more people. Name's Nickter, btw. They say he is crazy, but the boy didn't listen to team, he tried what he say, and he was right. The boy show to the others, and from there they started to realize, that's dragons are not monsters, they just attack to defense And from there started the friendship between dragons and humans again Good?

It's not even just that... in the movies and riders of beark, the dragons would still listen to other humans. Not as loyally as their main rider, but in a case of teamwork they made understanding exceptions. Because they are DRAGONS they aren't stupid.

@@marhawkman303 yeah there's multiple implications in this universe created that they do. Some words do or did confuse them though. You can see toothless gradually understanding the human language. Hiccup would have to train him gestures or drawing at times

Hiccup is smart, and while the plot was corny sometimes, he actually felt like he was overcoming obstacles instead of accidentally making problems.

As someone who has seen all 3 main HTTYD movies, all 5 short films, all 4 seasons of Riders of Berk, and all 6 seasons of Race to the Edge… I have to say… this show is a disgrace to this franchise.

Although I never seen this show until this review, I have to say ... I really love the design of the "Lava Breather" Dragon !! Is so cute, round and unique, and the colors reminds me of Big Momma (Dunkleosteous) from Hungry Shark !!!

It was never smart to begin with and I refuse to believe that this is canon with the series I grew up with since 2010. The Hidden World isn't the best movie in the world, I think it is flawed in a lot of areas but it was a great way to end the series.

I do not understand why, if they were going to try to bring back the HTTYD franchise, WHY did they not repeat the formula of RTTE but with Hiccup and Astrids kids (and kids from the other members of the gang) they could have brought back Heather and said "yeah, Fishlegs and Heather had a kid" Ruffnut and Snotlout etc. They could have animated the comics. The nine realms, no matter how you try to spin it, is an insult to the entire HTTYD franchise. From destroying Hiccups leg, Tom drawing in the BOOK OF DRAGONS to the very implication that Hiccup either eventually changed his mind about the world not being ready for dragons, Or that Hiccup did not head his own advice and abandoned his tribe to drag his family into the hidden world to live.

This Sounds exactly like a specific somebody in a specific discord call I was in a few months ago. and I mean exactly Voice and everything.

For the whole duration of the video, I had to concentrate really hard on what you were saying (which I completely agree with btw) because I kept getting distracted by those HORRIBLE graphics and character designs. Like DAMN they all look nasty.

@@dream6562how could this be canon when this show looks like it takes place on modern day earth when I was under the assumption that the HTTYD franchise takes place on some fantasy world that is not earth.

I grew up with the series, literally everything HTTYD that’s has come out from 2010 and up, not including this show I have seen. And personally I thought the Twins were stupid granted they have had their moments where they truly shine and I love them in all THEIR stupidity. But this show takes the cake on stupidity. Like even Ruff and Tuff knew how to handle certain dragons and how not to. They knew how to talk with the others, work as a team, and the other dragons would listen to them as well. There was an episode in RTTE( Race to the Edge) where Ruff and Tuff were made the owners of the island the team lived at and yes they technically almost burnt down the island and their base, but they could admit they were wrong and in the end helped save the island. I could go on about how they have been stupid and also the been the heroes too. I mean clearly the writers really were just like “let’s make this HTTYD show and make all our characters dumb and have no redeeming qualities and also not care about the true fans who will probably be interested in this” Thank you Dreamworks!! Thanks for taking one of your best franchises and burning its legacy. Really bravo!!!🎉🎊 🍾

Hi Alt, I still have not received a reply from you. The problem with the current state of Anime, is that 90% of the slop will never be completed. I can pretty much name only one anime that concluded completely in the last 2 years, that is Attack on Titan. (Bleach and Dr Stone looks on track to completion, but I can't tell for certain. Overlord probably won't be completed despite its popularity.) Unlike the anime of old, these anime are simply glorified light novel advertisements. It's the same isekai slop, all churned out from some light novel writing workshop. The animators throws these sludge on the wall to see what sticks, then make a second season that is pretty much a speedrun. It's a very short list of anime that actually reach their conclusion from the source material. Because they are all abandoned the moment the studios and producers think that it isn't popular enough. I can only remember Violet Evergarden, Oreimo, Saenai Heroine, ever reaching completion. Thats about it. Don't even count on any modern anime reaching an ending.

Hmmm... that's a good point but I was of the belief that it's because they go on for so long. One of the very few issues I have with anime is the prevalence of fillers. Had it not been for my husband, I probably wouldn't delve into anime like Chainsaw Man, One Punch Man, Bleach, and others until I'm certain they're completed. I had a bad experience with manga, starting journeys that were abruptly cut short or left on cliffhangers. Therefore, I tend to seek out completed series to avoid such disappointments. I enjoy Shojo anime, and so far, all the Shojo series I've watched are either completed with one or two seasons, or I can continue the story by reading the manga. Another observation about anime is that, for the most part, the ones I've watched closely follow the storyline of the manga source material. If I don't want to wait years for completion, I can read the manga and finish the story there. I love that about anime! There are very few movies or series in the West that allow you to seamlessly transition from the screen to the book to complete the story. Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and Twilight adhere closely to their source material. The Hunger Games does too, though the book is notably more gruesome, which I like When I commit to an anime, I'm in it for the long haul. That's why I finally picked up Hunter x Hunter. But look what happened in the case of Mob psycho and One punch man. how long have we been freaking waiting for new material to come out? This waiting game also applies to My Hero Academia, one of my favorite anime shows. It's hard to stay patient when we have to wait for YEARS Normally, I stick to my rule of finishing anime before moving on, but I've made an exception due to my husband's enjoyment of watching trending shows and being part of the conversation and community of everyone experiencing something for the first time and together. My husband and I differ in that way when it comes to anime, shows, and video games in unique ways. It's maddening because, even if we do start and anime together, he forbids me from reading the manga because "it's cheating". As for animators, I understand their desire to experiment and see what resonates with the audience. It's a business, after all. However, even as I still consider myself a relatively new anime fan, not having as many under the belt as someone like my cousin does, I find solace in knowing that I can always go back and finish the manga. MOST anime seem to be based on their manga, and while many are still ongoing, Japanese creators take pride in their work, and the stories appear to be born out of genuine passion, with business considerations coming later. I have yet to encounter anime that I would consider "slop." Every anime I've watched has incredible character building, storytelling, and fascinating concepts. The only one I started getting bored of was the vending machine one, which I'm sure picks up at some point. It's still an interesting concept, just not my type of anime. When you mention "slap," what exactly are you referring to?

@@Alteori Hi Alt. I think we have rather differing ideas of what defines as a series being complete. My idea of a complete anime series, is that the anime series is complete from start to finish. Examples, Attack on Titan. Assassination Classroom. Your definition of complete appears to be a complete manga or light novel series, where even if the anime never finishes, you can still read the rest of the story. What is my definition of anime slop? Basically, anime series that we all know will never see a completed run. Its a much shorter list to find which anime series are truly complete. The problem is that the animation studios usually only make one season to test the waters, with no actual intention of ever completing it. This process repeats ad nauseam until it is no longer reasonable to have any expectations of any anime series to be ever finished. Complete anime like Attack on Titan and Seven Deadly Sins are the exception, not the norm. For every 1 complete full series, you get a hundred more series with no follow up season. It doesn't help that the vast majority of Season 1 anime being churned out for the past few years are Isekai Light Novels. Basically, the current state of anime, is that it's a factory churning out new anime series every week, and you can easily tell they are just glorified advertisements for Light Novels. TL;DR Anime slop is simply anime series that will never be finished. Which happens to be 90+ percent. If a season 1 anime released today, how confident are you that it will ever reach its complete ending? Also, if you are under the impression that if an anime is good, ie having good story, good characters, it doesn't make it slop, I disagree. It actually makes it worse, because it is now dangling a delicious carrot in front of you that you can never reach. Speaking of Shoujo series, have you heard of one called Skip Beat? I used to be quite obsessed with it, even doing translations myself. But then I completely dropped off. Because so has the author. The series went on for 20 years, and I can tell that the author has completely lost all passion and is just phoning it in by this point.

I hate this show tries so hard to feel like it should be here, when it should of never existed and has multiple contradictions to the movies and original shows, i really wish i could take back the 1840+ minutes of my life that i put into watching this show

I challenge you Alteori, to review the ENTIRE series lol. Nah, im just joking, that would be cruel and unusual punishment, and I wouldnt even wish it upon my worst enemy. If you think THIS episode is bad, you have seen nothing yet. No spoilers, but this show bastardizes the original franchise soooo hard, its literally unforgivable. And not just in a "its a dumb kids show" kinda way. It goes out of its way to throw shade, hate and destruction towards the original franchise so much, you can practically smell the disdain and bitterness from the writers and directors themselves.

Yeah.. this show is really F**king Stupid. I did get excited for this show, well before it even started or came out and once it was out and everyone was talking about it on here, I was very disappointed. This show, the definition of Sh*t. I have been watching the HTTYD Movies from the very beginning and I have loved every bit of it! I really had hopes on it getting more and more better within the future but this show obviously didn't show a great example. I'm glad I didn't start watching this series and I'm sorry for those who ran into this and watched it while it drained the hell out of the viewers. But other than this disaster, I'm glad many of us are on the same page with this show.

plot twist Tom's mom finds out about the dragons and promises to keep it a secret but later everyone finds out and everyone agrees to keep it a secret, but they treat the dragons more like pests and make the kids handle them, especially Tom, also apparently because the Kid's trained dragons are known that means the wild untrain dragon come and go as they please which to be honest does not make sense to me but they didn't do that before but I guess they needed drama or something

I liked it the idea 4 different mythosystems had differing opinions on dragons and the world sounds nice

From what I can remember the from all the other better How to Train Your Dragon toothless could act on his own the other dragons could act on their own they didn't need to take orders their animals after all they have a brain

When I watch this show, I hated it because it was nothing but a cash grab made by Dreamworks to get whatever money they could from How to Train Your Dragon. I still watched the show because I figured it could get better. IT DIFFERENT NOT.
