Doctor Reacts To VIRAL Medical Sketches

From Portlandia, Monty Python, Robot Chicken, College Humor to Studio C I am going to react to some viral & hilarious medial sketches! A few months ago I reacted to the funniest medical sketches from Saturday Night Live, and you all asked me to react to some more clips that aren’t from SNL. I scoured KZread for the most hilarious medical skits I could find and eventually pulled together a really strong group from Portlandia, Monty Python, Robot Chicken, College Humor, and Studio C. Outside of laughing, I managed to find opportunities to discuss appendectomies, separating conjoined twins, depression, Web MD, cancer, and Leroy Jenkins, among other things. Anything else I missed? Let me know in the comments below!
I’m looking to hire an additional editor! Please read below to learn more about the position and how to apply:
Responsibilities: Edit 1-2 videos a week, including original videos on KZread/other platforms, or syndicated cut downs on Facebook, Snapchat, IGTV, TikTok, etc.
Qualifications: Significant experience editing videos specifically for KZread, ideally those that are talent-focused and straight-to-camera. Elite grasp of Adobe Creative Suite and/or DaVinci Resolve. Adobe After Effects a huge plus. “One person band” preferred, meaning an editor who can edit, color, mix, and finish a project all on their own. Extremely fast internet connection required. Must have a strong familiarity with emerging digital video culture and an avid consumer of KZread content. Sense of humor/personality/style showing through in your cuts would be highly valuable.
Perks: Highly competitive pay, full-remote workflow, part time-full time + benefits opportunities, open to international applicants, flexible hours. Looking to partner talent/motivated individuals in!
To apply: Send your resumé, editing reel/work samples, and few brief sentences detailing your experience and familiarity with KZread to DoctorMikeMedia@gmail.com
My shocking patient encounter, starting with basic foot pain: • SHOCKING Patient Story...
I LOVE reading your comments and take your suggestions seriously. If there’s a subject you want me to discuss or something you’d like for me to react to, leave a comment down below. Many of my videos have been born out of suggestions directly from you, so don’t hold back!

My mom had a routine pap smear and came home really pissed because a group of people walked in DURING her pelvic exam and all the doctor said was, "Oh, these are medical students observing procedures for the day, don't worry about them". Not every doctor acts like a professional and not every doctor cares about how the patient feels. So when I find a good doctor I stick with them and recommend to all my friends. I've heard some weird stuff from my friends over the years and had a couple bad experiences myself.

That Monty Python Sketch brought back memories of when I was pregnant with my second child in 1981 & I had a pain free labour, without any pain drugs or an epidural. Sometime during the labour someone came in & asked if I would mind if some student nurses came in to observe for a while because pain free labours are quite rare so it would be a fantastic learning opportunity for them to witness it. I said OK & about 1 minuet later a whole heap of student nurses filed in with their nursing teacher & proceeded to just stare at me. Pretty obvious that they already had them lined up outside the door hoping that I would say yes lol.

She took me to the doctor and had me checked out. She explained about my clumsiness. So the doctor handed me a toy and I held it and was playing with it. Then he handed me a second toy. So I had a toy in each hand. Then the doctor o=oured some M&M's into his hand and offered them to me, to see which toy I dropped. Instead, I bent over and ate them out of his hand like I dog. He laughed out loud and told my mom I was fine.

webmd actually helped me at least have a hunch that i had kidney stones when i did. i think it depends on the person's self-awareness too. since i was aware that my diet consisted of minimal water and a lot of oily, salty foods then i was able to put it together and kinda get support from what webmd told me lol i still got diagnosed properly though but if i didnt have a hunch right away that it was kidney stones, it wouldnt have gone well since the doctors initially thought i had appendicitis.

  • @triforce_majora

    @triforce_majora

Ironically for me I just had an appendectomy four days ago. Had I not looked up the specific symptoms of appendicitis, I wouldn't have gone to the ER and instead would've just made a regular doctor appointment, which would've been the wrong decision since I would've had to wait for said appt and potentially ended up with a burst appendix. The use of the internet by conscientious people is a good thing; it's when the non-conscientious use it not as a guideline, but as a self diagnosing tool that it's a problem.

All the professional societies recommend counseling and providing an epidural whenever a patient decides they want one during the labor process.

"High blood pressure is a silent killer" Absolutely, My dad is almost 60 and had never had his blood pressure taken. After a trip to the optician where they found a burst blood cell in his eye, it was recommended he got his blood pressure taken, so he went down to the local surgery, due to Covid he had it taken by a machine rather than a doctor, he was sent on his way but then a day later they asked him to come back in, his blood pressure was so high they genuinely believed their machine was broken, the GP said that my dad should be dead, he had never seen blood pressure so high, he was rushed to hospital and spent 4 days in CDU as they tried to get his blood pressure down, Dad's high blood pressure is genetic so there were no environmental signs and he appeared and felt fit and healthy. Moral of the story: Go in for regular check-ups, get your blood pressure taken, have blood tests, because there are so many things like blood pressure that can sneak up on you.

I didn’t know that I had HB till I went for a pre op appointment. It was so high that they did an EKG, before I got permission for the operation. After the operation, I went on meds to bring it down. I then started to reduced salt in my diet and started to exercise a bit. My doctor monitors it now. While I am still on meds, they are a a lower amount, than at first, and, overtime, by changing some of my food choices, I have lost a little bit of weight.( I am not overly overweight). This happened a couple of years ago, and given the medical situation we are in, I am happy that I found out. Stay safe, stay sane, be well

More that feelings, especially joy, are subdued (anhedonia). If anyone thinks they may have depression but believes the symptoms are too weak to be depression it may be dysthymia. It's also chronic and so it can easily be confused as "that's just how I am"

However, I always start off on the most low risk/most common ailment end of the spectrum of where symptoms overlap. From there, I work my way up, while also eliminating symptoms that could possibly not be necessarily connected to the main issue. It's a great tool when used properly to get an idea of what simple things you can do that might help improve condition. Just small things though.

My girl is a diagnostic sonographer who has worked at multiple hospitals and outpatient facilities, so I've been subjected to regular earfuls about the topic at 9:25 on a daily basis for years now. From how she says it, healthcare being unpredictable is rarely the cause of delays. It seems to be mostly due to overbooking patients in the same time slots, patient regularly showing up on time instead of 15 minutes early for the paperwork, and doctors requesting stat examinations when they shouldn't. My response to the paperwork reason is always, "if you want the patient to show up at 2:45 for a 3:00 appointment, just tell them the appointment time is 2:45"...

The doctor was not amused, and told my mother I was a very rude child. So, yeah. Not sure what that said about my development as a child, but hey, Mom got an absolute kick out of it. Anyway, I love your videos, love your sense of humor. You just strike me as a person with a lovely view on life, who genuinely cares for those around them. Keep doing what you're doing, my dude.

That's another reason why throwing something for the child to pick up probably isn't the best way to check reflexes. What if the kid simply doesn't want to? When they were trying to check my older brother's coordination, they wanted to see how high he could stack a tower of blocks. But he would stack two or three and then knock them down again just for fun. The nurse or whoever was "how can I check his coordination then?" and my mom was like, "is that what you're checking? He can take a cassette tape out of the tape player (this was in the 80's) and turn it over to the other side." And they're like, "Oh. Maybe our test wasn't so good after all."

Doesn't sound like a rude child at all! Sounds to me like a child raised to understand personal accountability! The doc was rude! Cute story ☺️

My mom used to be a medical assistant for a family doctor, so I grew up in that office and every day after daycare or when I was sick I would take a nap in a rarely used room and that paper krinkles made me feel better for some reason. Her boss was my doctor until he stopped his practice for medical reasons. I miss sleeping on the paper in the dark room trying to get sleep
