Doctor Reacts to Hilarious SNL Medical Sketches

Saturday Night Live premieres their new season this Saturday so I decided to take a look at some of the commercial parodies they’ve done for prescription drugs. Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Dwayne The Rock Johnson… I was cracking up at these fake “direct to consumer pharmaceutical advertising” commercial parodies. Somehow the US and New Zealand are the only nations on Earth that permit this type of advertising directly people, which I think is such a strange practice. Seth Meyer’s slayed me with a sketch about a testosterone booster, Kristin Wiig cracking me up talking about having her period once a year, Chris Rock killing me complaining that he actually like Taylor Swift… SNL got these so right. Did I miss one? Let me know down in the comments if there’s another sketch you want me to look at!
I LOVE reading your comments and take your suggestions seriously. If there’s a subject you want me to discuss or something you’d like for me to react to, leave a comment down below. Many of my videos have been born out of suggestions directly from you, so don’t hold back!

@@cheflemon556 Don't just read the nutritional facts, you should also read the ingredients. There are two types of fiber, soluble and insoluble. Some cereal will have an imbalance ratio of the two due to the ingredients it uses. Some could also be reinforced, meaning the manufacturer add fiber supplements. To the point, it is all down to if you want a well-balance fiber, naturally, or you need more on one type of fiber due to health reasons.

The person who posted this comment and the 80 people (so far) who liked it have absolutely no detailed knowledge in this whatsoever. (1) Minerals, by definition, are solid chemical compounds with crystal structures occur/formed in natural conditions in relatively pure form. Many crystals are formed with mostly a single type of elements. Elements and minerals aren’t even mutually exclusive or contradicting terminologies, hence the logics of your attempted disproof is inherently flawed. (2) If you identify some pieces of solids as diamond, by definition, it is composed of only one element which is carbon. Diamonds are a solid form of the element carbon with their atoms arranged in a crystal structure called diamond cubic. Dr Mike might be wrong by calling the name of element diamond, which should have been carbon, but he’s absolutely right about diamond being (composed of) one and only one element. (3) There are more and more artificial or synthetic diamonds which are laboratory-produced. These are undoubtedly diamonds yet aren’t even qualified to be called “minerals”. These are all secondary-level knowledges.

@@jhca4671 - Still confused as to what you're trying to explain. The original poster did not write anything incorrect. A diamond is a mineral. Sure, it's made up of only one element, but that doesn't mean it's not a mineral. A diamond itself is not an "element". I'm also not sure why you're trying to explain synthetic diamonds. Like, no one here asked about artificial diamonds or how they're made. Yes, they're made by forcing a pressure/temperature increase to carbon rather than letting nature take its course, but I'm so confused as to why you're explaining this. Do you just like to try and explain things just for the sake of explaining?

To be fair tho New Zealand is like living in 3200 just saying y’all have a woman equivalent of a president y’all apologized to your indigenous people like the us is supposed to be the next big thing but considering the abortion ruling we are living back in 1868 . We have a white Irish President although I guess that progress since the us hated the Catholic Irish to .

@@kkandsims4612 A female Prime Minister who preaches democracy and freedom when her administration is perhaps the most authoritarian (and she didn't even win the election when she was made Prime Minister, her opponent had 40% of the total vote and she had 25%). She even implemented vaccine passes that meant someone like me, who is immunocompromised and couldn't get the vaccine without risking a bad reaction, was barred from entering certain places until it was overturned. And sure, we apologised to the "indigenous" Maori people (who were a culture that immigrated to the country in the 1300s and committed genocide against the ACTUAL indigenous people (the Moriori)). We apologised so much to them that many companies are forced to have 50% Maori representation when they make up 20% of the population... and there was even consideration to make their votes worth 50% more than everyone else's... and I'm not even scratching the surface. Did you know that Maori people had more rights to vote than the white colonisers for about a decade? As a white man, you had to own a certain amount of land to vote, but Maori people didn't require that. They always had guaranteed seats in government regardless of their actual merits... and the biggest scholarships to universities are all based on you achieving the bare minimum standard and being Maori ($10,000 for just being Maori, vs the $7,500 scholarship I won for being disabled AND obtaining a perfect NCEA score). Believe me when I say that NZ is not as great as it appears. And seriously, the abortion ruling isn't that bad... considering all the Supreme Court did was overturn a case that is one of the worst abuses of judicial power in the U.S. (something that had the argument of being based in the Constitution... through an infinitesimally small connection made by a person that admitted to committing perjury in that very case). All the ruling did was make it up to the state's legislation, which more often than not would be based on what the state citizens would vote for.

They need to make a skit about the side effects being worse than the condition. You see that all the time. It’s like “do you have a mild headache?” Well take this, side effects may include anal leakage, homicidal rage, seizures, heart attack, stroke, internal hemorrhage, liver damage, kidney failure, and death. Stop taking this if you are allergic to this new medication. And talk to you doctor if your condition worsens while taking this drug that’s supposed to help. Lol

That's the case with literally all medication though. All you need to know is that those really extreme ones are generally rare, sometimes extremely rare. If a med has a really serious side effect that you're likely going to need to know about, your doctor should tell you.

@@bluesonicstreak7317 Yeah but it's worse when the chances are so bad and the condition is so mild. Like an ad for a schizophrenia medication was just one today and the side affects were like medium bad sounding but the condition warrants that for most people, and there was also an ad for an acne medication that makes some crazy high percentage of people have heart and liver problems which sounded way more severe and not worth it for the health condition itself being such a less important than death or permanent dksability thing to treat

@@BankruptMonkey believe it or not, some people HAVE to take these crazy medications with some absurd possible side effects if they want to live half-decent normal lives. So. When I told him I wouldn’t be comfortable with that he looked at me like I had 3 heads lol. Call me crazy but I’m not comfortable screwing with my bodies natural functions like that. I reiterate all of this by way of explaining why there will be those patently insane critics who believe he must be a lying, “libtard” member of the “deep-state” Illuminati, hell-bent on stripping of us of our economic superpower and the inalienable right to be dangerously, as well as ludicrously, misinformed. 😡THEY dislike Dr. Mike’s videos.

@@catloverKD I agree on getting rid of the natural born clause. I remember when they accuse Obama of being born in Kenya. And they REFUSE to accept the certificate of LIVE BIRTH. Just because it said live birth instead of BIRTH certificate. It just semantic. And even if Obama was born in Kenya he still would be a NATURAL BORN CITIZEN. Since his mom is american. Look up the Naturalization Act of SEVENTEEN NINETY(1790). Written during the time of the FOUNDING FATHER. It said if your parent is a natural born american then you're a natural born american NO MATTER WHERE YOU'RE BORN. Heck RAFAEL CRUZ A CANADIAN RAN FOR PRESIDENT. Yes his mom was american but HIS FATHER DIDN'T BECOME A AMERICAN UNTIL 2005. If you want to be hypocrital about Obama Kenya father.

As an Australian, I initially found it so odd to see all of the medication (and medical malpractice lawsuits) advertised on TV while I was in Hawaii, but after being stuck there for 4 months, upon my return to Australia, I found it so weird NOT seeing the advertisements 🤦🏻‍♀️ When I was in Hawaii, I became close to a few people and one of the ladies was talking about how she was going to ask her doctor about going on Humira for her arthritis and it made me stop in my tracks. I remember seeing the ads for it where everyone looks so happy and carefree as the voiceover lists side effects including death and face palming. I’ve had friends have adverse reactions to the drug for treatment of Crohn’s disease and almost die, but it was being thrown around like something as simple as taking a Tylenol 🤦🏻‍♀️

A little late, but had to jump in here and say that in Romania we always had these commercials. It has gotten worse over the last 2-3 years actually, with some journalists claiming between 50-70% of the commercials are for OTC medication, while some online petitions against the commercials state the percentage is up to 95% out of all commercials in a day. It is absolutely crazy. If you turn on the TV for even 15 minutes chances are you will see one.

As someone who's experimented with a good variety of hallucinogens, I'm really disappointed in people who do things like the Benadryl challenge not just because it's obviously stupid and dangerous, but also because there are way safer ways to have way better trips. It's sad. We need to destigmatize the general act of enjoying altered states of consciousness, because it's a normal human/animal urge, critters like getting high -- and if people could be socially accepted for experimenting, they'd be able to try safer ways to do it.

@@ItsAsparageese As someone who's never really been so much as tempted to do such things, I don't think it's really a good idea to normalize it either. I think this is a 'be careful what you wish for' kind of situation. If it were socially acceptable to get smashed on whatever the heck you got your hands on, that would open the floodgates for children finding things in parents' medicine cabinets and people who didn't know what they were doing getting overdosed or handed something low quality. Honestly, I'd rather see these substances completely eradicated in a perfect world rather than completely destigmatized. There are legitimate reasons behind why most drugs are illegal or heavily controlled.
