🚲 Do *Not* Make A Seat Like This - Cargo EBike (1000W, 48V, Hub Motor) [P6]

It's time to make a way to sit on this bike!
This is only the 2nd seat that I've attempted to make, but it's really the first because the other one was very unfinished and more "raw", so I'm not sure it really counts.
I started with a high density (black) foam base layer then some 1" lower density (white) foam on top. The black foam is more for structural integrity, and the white is for comfort/squishiness. I don't know why I always have to over complicate things with my design, but in order to add some length I needed to triangulate and taper the back end a bit to fit around the bin mounts I have created. I also covered this seat with some stretchy vinyl which is a lot easier to work with than real leather. I tried my best to make it so that it was as "seamless" as possible, however this was quite hard to do and it's why you'll see most seats like this have seams that are sewn. If your seat is shallower then it should be easier, but the taller it is the harder it will be to get it all to conform in one piece. I had to get creative with my folds.
I originally left the seat pan rectangular even though the rear of the seat has an angled shape. I don't know why I did this, I suppose I thought that they could be stuffed underneath the bin frames, and this did work, however I didn't like how it looked when the bins were not attached, and I wanted the bike to look good regardless if the bins were attached or not. I ended up redoing the end of the seat by cutting off these corners of the seat pan, it wasn't that hard to do. I did have to find new mounts for the seat because I chopped them off, but moving them now interfered with the controller. This was easy to deal with by just omitting the dual rear mounts to a single centered mount. After that it was done and looking pretty nice.
Of course it's not a factory seat and that shows, but for a first attempt I was impressed by how well it came out.
Next was breaking down the entire frame to all of it's smaller components, and starting the prep work for paint. This is always an exciting part of the builds even though you do have to slog through a bunch of annoying things, prepping for paint is never fun however it is important to do and it's also exciting because at least for the way that I build things it does mean that I'm getting closer to the end. Plus painting your projects always makes them look so much better and nicer, it's a cool transformation to see.
I didn't want to make this video too long, so I'm going to save painting for the next episode but trust me it will be worth the wait because this bike came out awesome, I can't wait to show you guys.
Seat is done, paint prep is done, now we just have to paint and reassemble, then of course maybe a few extras at the end. Thanks for watching!
