🚲 If That's A Battery, It's Weird Looking - Cargo EBike (1000W, 48V, Hub Motor) [P7]

You'll never guess where it goes too...
Ok so I left you guys on a cliffhanger last time with just starting the painting process. Well, today we finish it all, all the painting, completely done. I'm not usually one for adding color to my paint jobs, I tend to prefer just using shades of gray (unless I'm doing camo, that's another story) but this time I do throw in a bit of color to help tie in the entire build. The cargo bins top is a certain color and instead of them being "separate" from the rest of the frame, I used this as an accent color to tie in the rest of it.
I also paint all of the small fasteners, this helps add even more details to an otherwise lesser project. I always try to do this as all of these smaller things that take a bit of time end up stacking up and compounding into a better overall end result. There was a contrasting "ring" of silver that came with this hub motor wheel which I really didn't like and it was easy enough to paint this and I'm glad I did because it looks a lot better.
Next up after everything was fully dried was the reassembly process. I took my time because the paint is quite easy to scratch and I wanted to keep things looking very nice and new (at least for the video) before roughing things up with use. The reassembly went quite well, I also go on a rant about torque arms again. This build actually has torque arms that I custom made myself and integrated them into the subframe, although honestly this build really didn't need them still but I put them on anyway just in case I want to attach a very powerful motor later on down the line.
After reassembly I show off some new 3D printed parts that took me a very long time to make. I was concerned with the battery box cover, and I was just going to put a flat plate over it but I ended up creating this crazy, windowed looking thing and then stuffed some LEDs in there and also gave it a ton of graphics. This was so over-engineered and more difficult than it needed to be but it was a good exercise to figure out more 3D modeling and printing. It's definitely not as nice as I wanted to make it, but after weeks I decided to not iterate any longer and continue on with the build. Then I made up some tail light holders which came out great.
Lastly I had a few dents in this frame that I didn't even realize until it was one solid color and instead of just leaving it, I decided to create my own cosmetic covers for them. These ended up looking kind of like a lightsaber or something, but they did cover the dents so you don't notice them at all anymore, and instead of just sticking on some aesthetic looking "clamps" essentially, I decided to turn these into a functional part by having them be holders for a sacrificial piece of aluminum which would be taking all of the rock chips and debris flung up from the tire much like a shorty fender.
We're finally done though and all that has to be done next is unveil the final build, thanks for watching.

Oh no....big torque arm finally got to you too?! 🤯 lol jk man. The build looks incredible so far! Can wait for your video on the LEDs! Been looking at changing the headlight on my bike to a much brighter light bar, but haven't had the time to try to figure out exactly how to do that quite yet!
