Ойын-сауық

In today's episode of RPG Horror Stories with DnD Doge, we have a tale about a player playing a dog girl in dungeons and dragons, and proceeds to do a stupid that guy move. A story about a player that thinks D&D is more important than family. And a story about how inter party conflict risked a TPK in the first session of a TTRPG.

    The story reminds me of the Star Trek: Enterprise needed to needed an important spare part and Archer needed to negotiate with an easily offended species. He brought his dog to the negotiations, who peed on their sacred trees! When they later offered Archer the opportunity to apologize, he felt like they should apologize to him, because the dog got sick from it.

    For the second story, if I understood that correctly, OP couldn't defend their actions because they weren't dealing with the group at that time. So, my assumption here is that the transperson who was upset with them and started the fight twisted the story to the group to make themselves look better and paint OP as the bad guy. The group must have taken them at their word. If this is the sort of person that makes a habit of painting themselves as the victim, they would know exactly what to say to make others believe them. It doesn't work in the long run, because sooner or later their real nature is revealed, but in the short term, they could have definitely persuaded to group to side with them and by the time OP felt like dealing with their hobby again, it was too late to repair that damage, so they probably just decided that it was easier to move on to a new group, rather than trying to mend fences with a group that has a proven toxic person in it. It is a bit lacking on the details on that part, likely stemming from the fact that OP actively ignored that group for a time, while they were dealing with the family crisis.

    @Jeremy Bosco The "serious professional help" exists, is often sought by trans people, and it is called gender reaffirming healthcare... whether or not you want to acknowledge the fact that we exist, we do, and we are seeking "help" as best we can for the difficulties that come with gender dysphoria. It just so happens that the most effective way to treat that dysphoria is to do something that you don't like for some reason. The attempted suicide rate among transgender individuals drops significantly when their environments are supportive and healthy, this is well known. Transitioning (not bottom surgery, i mean hormones) is provably beneficial to the psyche of trans people. I was miserable and contemplating suicide until I was finally able to transition, and I have felt genuinely happy about myself seeing the progress. Watching my body change and feeling comfortable in it, expressing myself the way I prefer to? It's incredible and I'd fight tooth and nail to protect my RIGHT to have access to the healthcare I NEED, that IMPROVES my mental state, and makes me HAPPIER than ignoring the problem or trying to ignore that my dysphoria exists. ***THE VAST MAJORITY OF FIRST WORLD PSYCHIATRISTS AND PHYSICIANS ADVOCATE FOR GENDER REAFFIRMING HEALTHCARE.*** I'm sick of this narrative that we're "sick and need help but refuse to seek it", *WHEN WE ARE TYPICALLY SEEKING IT EVERY FUCKING DAY OF OUR LIVES. AND PEOPLE LIKE YOU ARE TRYING TO MAKE SURE WE CAN'T, BY IMPOSING YOUR OWN IDIOTIC IDEA OF WHAT CONSTITUTES AS "PROFESSIONAL HELP".* Just shut the hell up and leave us out of your whining if you don't know what you're talking about, because if everybody thought like you, we wouldn't GET the help that we require.

    You know a dog pee's on something not just to relieve itself but to mark it's territory/property. What she just did in animal terms is the equillivant of claiming "I own you" or "I'm your boss"; in a way it's an insult to the guard as it also sends the message that the guard means nothing to her and is pretty much an insult. That's ignoring the common decency about it. If it was truly just a joke, they'd shrug it off and try again. For every 10 bad jokes you'll get 1 amazing joke; that's how comedy works! that's why I always bring a chair with me on stage. I just can't do stand up comedy consistantly; my legs start to ache. ^^

    That "forever DM" of the first story was probably just jealous that the game by another DM went so well and decided to risrupt it. But it also goes to show how important making clear what tone (crapsack world, epic fantasy, jovial dungeoneering, absurdist) a campaign is supposed to have is during a session zero. I personally consider it the most important question, right after which system is used, even ahead of what type of campaign is to be expected (dungeon crawl, combat-heavy, politcal intrigue, murder mystery etc.).

    Story 1 - A quick retcon was probably the simplest solution. Personally, I would have had the guards administer a severe in-depth beatdown to this fool, just on general principle. This can't be excused by claims of poor communication - they were under guard, and what did he THINK would happen? Story 2 - I think a lot of us have, one time or another, encountered someone who outright USES something (a physical or mental trait, a personal problem, their situation, etc., etc., etc.) as a license to treat other people however they want. All you can do is eject them when it gets intolerable - we KNOW what they'll say about it regardless. Story 3 - When the party retook control of the aircar, one thing that should have happened was the two idiots either falling out or getting thrown out.

    Without getting to much into personal detail, I used to work with someone who is part of the same marginalized/identity group at l as me. The company as basic made up of a bunch of little teams and she was constantly getting kicked off of teams and moved to another one until she landed in ours. And she would constantly talk about how everyone on all the other teams and all the various leads and everyone who got upset with her for not doing her job this making everyone else's job harder were bigots and sexist and all this other nonsense. Nothing could every be this persons fault and Every negative thing that befell them was because of some bigotry or another. When they were clearly just. Bad at the job or didn't want to be there so they were doing a bad job out of disinterest. That stuff always makes me feel really icky. I'm glad that op doesn't have to deal with that anymore. It's super gross. And really belittling of the actual issues for marginalized groups when someone used their identity as a shield to escape the consequences of their own actions.

    The peeing "incident" sounds like a power move to me - I've seen it happen WAY too many times in my gaming experience. Quite a few players try to push against the GM's boundaries with all the gentleness and subtlety of a semi going full speed, trying to see how far they can get before the GM starts pushing back. I must admit, to my eternal shame, that in my first experiences as GM that was very far indeed (I was extremely insecure) - but even when I DID grow a spine and stop abiding by their crap there was always someone who would simply ignore any rule, whether standard, logical or game-specific, and then feign ignorance.

    Peeing on a soldier... This is the sort of thing that I love hearing about in D&D horror stories. The situation is so absurd that it is more funny than anything. Dogs have numerous disgusting behaviors and habits, but they don't seem to make a habit out of peeing on people. I wonder where this problem player got the idea that a dog might do that.

    Female dogs don't lift their leg to pee, they squat. Same with human females. B shouldn't have been allowed to do that to the sleeping soldier because his character *couldn't*. If B had still insisted on trying it, he should have ended up peeing on himself. Details people, details. lol Second story, geeze. They're a 'that guy' in real life. A human land mine. The group probably wouldn't have lasted just because of Dick, even without the family emergency. I hope Dick's friends wake up and dump him. He's radioactive.

(Sorry you had to bore witness to that Doge). Story 2: Uhhh. I got nothin. I just have no idea what was going through that person's head. Person has personal emergency, right reaction: give space and support, wrong reaction: spam them to kingdom come. Person is angry with you for annoying them in a delicate situation, right reaction: apologize and back off, wrong reaction: accuse of homophobia. I could be reading too much into this, so take what I say with a pinch of salt, but the first story seems like it could be a f3t1ish thing. First we have a male player, playing a female character. I wouldn't go so far as to call that a red flag; I'm sure there are plenty of men out there who play as women and aren't weird about it. But there are a lot of men out there who *are* weird about it. And when considered along with the other factors, this might be one such case. Another is that this character is heavily implied to be a kemonomimi (literally "animal ears," think anime catgirls). Again, not a red flag in and of itself; I have a player im my campaign who plays a (male) kemonomimi character and he's not weird about it at all. Very weeby, but not in a weird way. But the fact is, quite a few people are Weird About such characters. These factors, combined with the fact that urination is not a rare f3t1sh, make me wonder if there might be more to this than just a bad sense of humour. But as I say, I might be reading far too much into this. It's entirely possible that the player in question unironically finds toilet humour funny, and who am I to judge? Also 69th comment. Nice.

  • @r.alexandercorbitt1554

    @r.alexandercorbitt1554

    Жыл бұрын

    I should clarify that I am not trying to shame the player in question for being Into That; the problem is not *having* a f3t1sh so much as bringing your f3t1sh into places where it Isn't Appropriate. As the saying goes, there is a time and a place for everything, and the gaming table is, generally speaking, not the time or place for f3t1sh stuff. That is assuming any of this is Like That at all; as I said, it could very well have been the player's very immature idea of a harmless joke.
