Ойын-сауық

In today's episode of RPG Horror Stories with DnD Doge, we have a tale about a player that gets overly upset over a simple misunderstanding regarding certain rules to Dungeons and Dragons 5e, then proceeds to target and sabotage another player, a story about a Dungeon Master using the game and players as a form of therapy, and finally, a story about a player that insists on writing a long backstory, and making themselves a mary sue.

Okay, if Fey had actually been dealing with trauma or other bad experiences, her ACTING like that so early on in the game should have been a major red flag. People like that aren't dealing with their issues; they ARE the issues. What the group of OPs story REALLY needs is a Kitsune character! As for who holds a grudge for ridiculously long times, OOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHH I can name two people who are INFAMOUS for that. Delta and Sierra.

That is kind of my issue with 5e as well: a lot of stuff is written way too vague. I have never before encountered a rule system where the mere interpretation of a description could change from game to game.

For the first story, I've been in similar situations. Where players don't get along or are arguing about something and it bleeds into the character. It's highly annoying as it ruins the game and the immersion. And, in this story, ruined everything. Glad things seemed to get better, though, and they got some good games going now. Second story... Just no. Therapy is important but you need it from a professional. Otherwise you just exacerbate the problems. And in my experience just having a nice relaxing game with people having fun can be more therapeutic than, well... That. The last one is a giant red flag. Idk how much more red you can get a flag.

As much as I love creation bards, yeah, the vagueness with some of the rules of the subclass can be... frustrating. Don't get me wrong, it's a fun subclass to play, but it hinges on a lot of constant off-table communication with your DM for it to run smoothly in-game. I'm just sad the problem player in the first story wasn't going to be mature about the idea of those vagaries being clarified, because even after they do get clarified, creation bards can be overpowered as fuck depending on how creative the player is.

Easy to say. I doubt they described every social intricacy in explicit detail, as that isn't the point of the post. And from what was said, it wasn't a secret. OP was also not the one that broke. The specified problem player(s) chose to stop coming, and then were officially removed, per the OP's words. What exactly was the OP' suppose to say there? Especially now because of how she's acting and I can't help but think that she's at that point where she could wind up just as abusive as those that abused her

Although I haven't encountered these types of situations in tabletop scenarios just yet, I have been in other roleplay situations where people would choose to roleplay as child characters. It almost never went well... They were basically using the character as some type of stereotype for a type of behavior they wanted to get away with. The situation described here doesn't seem to be an exception. She was basically just using a child character as a vessel for her own poorly thought out choices, and unwillingness to accept consequences for that behavior. Even when people aren't using child characters to do this, it can sometimes be in the form of an over the top "cutesy" type, or a "white knight." Either way they try using something opposite of their actual intent, in order to try masking it to the best of their ability.

First story upsets me because seemingly no one understands just how badly that 'misunderstanding' was. The OP actively brought up to everyone how in their opinion the ability should be nerfed which the DM heard, putting the thought into the dms head to start limiting the creativity of the bard. The bard gets upset about this reasonably and retaliates, and if you didn't notice, the OP then started actively leaving out battles and such from the story, meaning that the DM did head the OPs words and nerf the skill making the bard have a bad time since now the bard is less useful. The OP then not only gaslights the DM, but also the audience by only bringing up issues the OP had with the bard. Clearly the OP was jealous after seeing how the bard did things, said it should be nerfed before backpedaling from backlash, only to get their way and then act confused when bards mad they are now nerfed.

"OP then started actively leaving out battles and such from the story, meaning that the DM did head the OPs words and nerf the skill making the bard have a bad time since now the bard is less useful." "Clearly the OP was jealous after seeing how the bard did things," You're literally *assuming* that, and accusing OP of being the problem based on your guesses. Because the Bard actively acted like they were holding an OOC grudge and bringing it IN CHARACTER, one of the biggest D&D sins you can commit. Her and her partner acted like immature children and actively sabotaged themselves through their own dislike of OP, even when OP was attempting to help them in-character.

When in reality, grudges are only started and held onto by being slighted in the first place, which is fact based off the very understanding of the word Grudge to begin with. Nobody just automatically has a grudge, that's an entirely different word if so. I'm saying based off what the OP said and what they actively skipped out on saying, there is a high chance what I proposed as an assumption is true.
