    Yeah that was just sad! Should have taken nobody laughing at his bad jokes as an indication not to continue, but I guess pride kicked in, making him double down and believe if he tried HARDER, he'll impress the GUYS at least! I feel he was hoping for a scenario where the girl would keep quiet and the guys who join him in being creeps or keep quiet and instead never factored the "we'll see ourselves out" applying ALMOST IMMEDIATLY! That did make me LOL cause I was like "FINALLY people FUCKING LEFT the very moment the creep DM bluntly showed off his creepiness in Minute/Hour 1 instead of waiting till Session 1-10!" But yeah it's best you never play "Sunk Cost Fallacy" Kiddos and just....just leave! These people like the DM of S1 NEVER get better and if their TRIPLING down like this in minute/hour 1! You have your proof right there that they are not "good peoples" so don't bother! You got better things to do then waste good time of your short life on idiots and losers! You already waste a penny worth already just in this timeframe, don't waste it any further. They will never get better because they don't WANT to get better (I'm sure he's gotten this reaction many MANY times in the past before OP group, so he doesn't have an excuse of "not knowing better" and I'm sure out of an example of 5 groups before OP, 1 of them did respond in the way he wanted and he still CLINGS to the fact he'll get such a group again when it's likely even THEY were only amused for a millisecond then dismissed him and moved on with their lives! Something HE should have done. And would not be surprised if OP's group WON'T be the last who just "fucking BAIL" on the loser! Hopefully far SOONER then OP)

Heck ,I should have just left, I don't get why I just had to be the one with the "smart sarcastic lingo" at that moment. That second story hurts on so many levels 1 - "Only incels play Paladin". I can't speak for everyone's personal experience, but every Paladin player I've ever come across have been pretty chill people who want to play a challenging class that rewards the absolute rarest trait in any D&D player: self-control. That doesn't really scream incel to me 2 - It makes me a little sad to see that chaotic stupid characters have become so normalized and dime a dozen that putting items in the campaign tailored to people of an opposing alignment is viewed as a personal attack or favoritism 3 - Who wastes coffee like that, and I hope it was at least iced coffee and the DM wasn't burned

    The negative reputation is not simply for its content: it also has absurd game mechanics (make a contested roll by rolling d100 twice with no modifiers on either roll, and see which roll was higher - instead of flipping a coin) and issues (such as negative numbers appearing in places... let's say where they make no sense whatsover) that prove its creator(s) not only don't understand people but math. Story #1 -Simply walking, best move possible. That is, short of bitch-slapping this DM into the middle of next week, which he fully deserved - but that would likely have gotten the police involved. I am glad that other Players also walked, and that they have all since found a much better DM. Story #2 - Sarah seemed to be well on her way to full-blown Main Character Syndrome, if not already there. Issues there, I guess. Her getting booted was the only thing to be done. No coming back from that kind of behavior. Story #3 - Player handled things exactly right. Another sorry excuse for a human being right there. Story #4 - Retreat can be the smart move, absolutely. But this DM clearly fails to understand that most people play RPGs to become awesome. If the Party cannot level up and all they ever get to do is run away from certain death, then that game is a total waste of time and Character sheets. Story #5 - Seems to me that the DM was knee-jerking his way through this scenario. Certainly, the only times he seemed to think even a little was when the Players called him out on stuff he'd done - and his excuses then were just sad. Story #6 - They tried talking with the DM about it. Him asking if it was actually happening or just seemed like it says pretty much all you'd need to know. WALK. Once again, this is not a thing that'll get better by itself. They COULD try talking with PP directly, but I am not optimistic

    I believe there was a recent irl pvp horror story (either Crispy or Tales to Morrow) where a player was shouting at the DM and both were standing, about to start something physical. The player's GF tried to get in between to defuse but player violently pushed her away, and that's when DM punched player and a fight ensued. I believe cops did get involved but I suspect DM gpt away with some plea deal and the argument that he was trying to defend the girl from her gone-violent bf and himself too. We could invoke defense disproportionate to offense but I'm no lawyer and I don't have more details.

    So happy that the guys in the first story supported the girl player. Far too often in these stories do the dudes just keep quiet or side with the creep, so it's just really nice to see them not putting up with it. See the third story for example. I really don't get dudes like the DM, but u do think the reason why they're so openly creepy is because they mistake being DM for having power over the players as people. That or they mistake blatant sexism for flirting. Both, maybe.

    Nonsense Story. Have to admit. I was laughing a lot listening to this one. Although I could see if the guys waiting at the basement door would lock it. That would be a good way with all the noise of a fire and stuff going on fighting a tiger nearby to be able to tell when the party came back to the door as the party would make noise right there trying to open the door. Thus alerting the guards that they were back and giving the guards a few seconds to ready themselves. The rest was just comical.

    First story: I like the session zero RP idea, but that guy was a creep with a capital CREEP! If someone asked for my body count like that, my answer would be “sex, none of your damn business. Murder, about to go up by one if you keep pestering me about this.” Second story: Sarah: “Are you trying to make me look stupid in front of the other players?” DM: “You don’t need any help from me.” Movie references aside, the DM made the right choice in kicking Sarah. Someone who gets physically violent over a pretend game is way too immature for D&D. Third story: Wow, that guy really thought he was doing something there. I’m torn between laughing at how stupid he is for thinking OP’s even going to care what’s happening in a game they’ve long since left and being deeply disturbed by how long he’s been holding that grudge and how determined he is to assault this character. Either way, I’m amazed that there’s anyone still willing to play with him after that incident. Fourth story: I get what the DM was trying to do here, but he really overdid it. Yes, running away is a valid choice and in some cases the smartest one. Yes, it’s reasonable as a DM to give the party an occasional encounter they can’t beat and have to run away from. The thing is, in D&D, the PCs are supposed to be the heroes of the story. If the heroes never have a chance to actually win, people are going to lose interest in the story, and that’s exactly what happened here. Fifth story: I don’t think this DM thought things through very well. I also think he might want to try a more rules-light system than D&D. D&D’s great, but it’s not for everyone, and multiple systems exist for a reason. Sixth story: My advice to OP would be to quit. You basically aren’t getting to play, and the DM is refusing to help. There are better groups out there-groups where everyone actually respects each other instead of just yelling over whoever’s trying to talk. Groups where the DM listens to player feedback instead of just telling them to deal with it. The point of D&D is to have fun. If you’re not having fun with this group and no one will work with you to make it fun, you should leave.

    Advice for the last OP, get a sound file of a loud buzzer and play it whenever the problem player interrupts you. and follow it up with "Please don't interrupt". Then continue with what you were saying. If he interrupts again or complains, play the sound file again. don't raise your voice or get into an argument, just hit the buzzer when he interrupts and politely ask him not to.

    Making a horny joke about a race with horns is cringe, but the crux of the issue is the host springing a NSFW campaign on the players without any indication of said NSFW campain. That is a good way to burn bridges. Then again, this DM thinks that a woman is worth less for having actual experience. The whole keys and locks things doesn't make any sense because a key that opens many locks is a liability, and a good way to get robbed. That's why master keys will have a few locks that they won't be able to open, to prevent theft. Not to mention that sex is more comparable to a mix between dancing and wrestling, both of which only get better with experience, regardless of the gender.

    It all stems from a blatant lack of how female reproductive system works. Rather than understanding that it's a muscle... And functions like a muscle, they confuse it for something like an elastic inanimate object like a rubber band or hair tie. Something that permanently loses its elasticity the more it's "used". They genuinely don't know that "looseness" doesn't come from over use but is literally just the muscle relaxing because the woman is relaxed and enjoying things. "Tightness" means she either practices keegals which is great and enjoyable for both people or shes NOT enjoying herself and just tolerating it or even being SA'd, which is obviously bad...

    First session definitely had a fascinating session zero convept that reminds me of some video game custom character creation aesthetics. Was expecting body count to mean "mature encounters", inappropriate treatment of a soldier, or baiting the player to think slain foes only to reveal it's mature encounters. Second story starts off with a bang with problem player preemptively treating paladin players as incels or problems players (an unfortunately common pattern in tabletop hirror stories). I feel slightly concerned about the way OP phrased the fighter getting kicked out implying the DM is at fault, but I'm certainly overthinking things. Good on OP of the third story for quitting and denying the problem DM's claim to the departed character. Even better how that guy's group got kicked out of a public place. Fourth story was (relatively) short and sweet response to constantly facing overpowered enemies too often. Fifth story felt like OP was a rules lawyer, though not maliciously or unfairly. Definitely some leaps in logic by the DM to return things to the enemy's favor. Fifth story sounds like OP should get other table members involved if DM will just brush it aside.

    Good to see Luna joining your Like and Subscribe Kitty Squad on the regular! Speaking of which, I'd love to see the whole group together some day, maybe for a holiday or subscriber milestone special. Kudos to OP in that first story for not taking the troll bait! That was a super mature boss move that completely denied the pervy DM the power he was trying to claim over her. Ultimately, Perv DM's failure to grow up only cost him even more respect in addition to losing the privilege of using that store as his gaming venue. I'm a little worried that he still had players willing to tolerate his creepy fetish/obsession, it will only serve to enable and sustain the behavior. Which is sad because it'll already take a significant external challenge for this DM to reflect, correct, and grow to become a better person.

    Dave's character in that DM's games ceased to be his character the minute he walked away from the game. and thus, the DM can't hurt him by hurting her. I mean I wouldn't be too upset if my character DIED in a campaign, at least if it wasn't early on, especially if she gets to die heroically. but that's because I signed up for a campaign with danger and a chance of death. having it happen once every so often even if only rarely proves that I am getting what I signed up for. However this "DM" sounds like he's just torturing this now NPC character cuz he's a slimebag wormturd.

    Interupted Story. Simply put this will probably not end well. Even if PP doesn't realize he is doing it, it is part of his nature and he will continue to do it a lot even if he wants to stop. Which I doubt they actually do. DM is PP best friend, and the DM not even noticing they must ask their own girlfriend to repeat themselves because PP is talking over OP shows, to me at least, that DM and PP see nothing wrong with this behavior. I don't know how this will go down exactly, but I see a high probability that DM will either loose a GF or BF in the near future.

    Body Count: . . . Simple rule between lovers; we don't kiss and tell. Coffee Throw: That sounds like an incredibly insecure little person and does not have my sympathy. Besides that... Why paladins? Yeah...but why paladins? (guess the movie reference) Old Horror DM: Good for the store staff to kick them out... besides him being a manchild... WHY IS HE AND HIS GROUP DO THAT KIND OF SHENANIGANS IN A LOCAL GAME SHOP!? Run Away: What kind of game is he running? A peasant game? I'm more confused by how the DM felt the need to TEACH instead of hosting the game than the roundabout way of nothing. Nonsense: Annnd the importance of having a script to default to when players do crazy stuff. Having it at least as a reference would help a lot. Interrupted: Advice? Tell the DM that even if the Problem Player is his best friend, he gotta put his foot down about the interruptions. It is not fair for the other players that the problem player has a say in almost everything. It is a social game, not a one-man-band show. Don't hassle yer boyfriend, but let him know that if it keeps up, you're going to step away with no plans of returning to that campaign. Also...red flags are not forbidden ju-ju, they are warnings to proceed with caution; so it is okay to show a little favoritism to you, girl! Why? It is ten times better than showing no love or attention AT ALL towards you (because that is social neglect... in a social game... where the biggest spell component in the magic of D&D is VERBAL.)

It’s a real group with real world consequences (including a shooting.) That being said, doubt the player the lady is accusing is an incel at all and she was just looking for justifications to judge them for their character choice.

    We're missing a lot of context and backstory in the second story. If the Paladin seemed (to the OP) to be getting special treatment from the DM prior to this I can see getting upset at him getting such a powerful weapon. I can even see getting upset even without any prior special treatment if the weapon was significantly more powerful than anything anyone had seeing how it was only usable by the one character. That doesn't justify her dumping coffee on the DM.

    Re: the "House on Fire" story. Obviously, the DM completely blew it, but I can sympathize. We've all been there -- the party figures out a way to breeze through your scenario, and suddenly you're in damage control mode, trying to improvise some way to make it a challenge for them. It's easy to panic and start grasping at straws, which I suspect is what happened here. If they're a decent DM in general, I would cut them some slack, and maybe recommend they avoid something as open-ended as a heist adventure until they have a little more experience under their belt.

    About the first story: This DM is the reason why DnD has a bad name to everyone, especially for women. Why there are Dm like this A-hole? Story: About the fighter, I would give her the benefit of the doubt and perhaps she had a bad experience with other players who played paladin before. I mean, after reading and listening TTRPG horror stories about paladins, maybe she was a victim by that class. IDK, I' just speculating. The third story, I will put that DM in the Ban List to enter the story, and let the other stores know about this DM. We should stop invite those creeps to play DnD. The last story, I would say to OP, dude, just leave the game, if this really stressing you out too much and the game is no fun anymore, just leave it. No DnD is better than Bad DnD.

    Run Away Story. This is a mistake some people make by over doing one thing or another. In this case making the encounters on purpose overpowered to encourage the party to run away. DM was over stressing the importance of this. I do think that the players when bringing this up to the DM that they should have given that DM a chance to change as the DM may not have realized they were over doing it. I don't know if they did and then left when the DM didn't change or if they just left without giving the DM another chance. The way it is told I do not think the players did give the DM another chance.

    To be fair, they don't have to give the DM a second chance and by the end of a forth session of nothing he should have been able to notice that people were bored or just fed up. It doesn't help that the post is lacking a _lot_ of information. Is it a curated story or RNG for every encounter? By the third time of this happening, a good DM would "flub the role". Is the world supposed to be OP? If so, why didn't the players get told in the set-up. How much experience does the DM have? If little to none, the players should have definitely said something but given the whole group chose to jump ship, I'd have to assume the DM at least claimed to have experience, and, in which case, the DM should know that it won't be entertaining for a majority of players to be making no progress four sessions in.

  • @davidtherwhanger6795

    @davidtherwhanger6795

    @@daggern15 The entire group leaving as one proves nothing about the DM's experience or claims thereof. It could simply mean the players were all friends before and the DM was a new addition to the group. As for if the DM was an experienced DM he might have been, but with a lot of that experience with players that didn't take hints and needed to be shown time and time again that there is more than one option. And like you said we are not given a lot of the information here. The players might have been told this was going to be a difficult game from the start. But decided it was too hard later or their idea of difficult and the DM's idea of difficult were too different concepts. From what we do have given to us I see a simple misunderstanding between the Players and the DM. And instead of trying to work it out, the Players just bailed.

  • @daggern15

    @daggern15

    4 ай бұрын

    @@davidtherwhanger6795 Don't get me wrong, I'm not arguing the DM was a lost cause. From what little we're given, the only thing we know about the ending to this tale is that the party bailed. I make no claim what little we know spells that the DM is experienced or the ties between everyone but I wouldn't expect a whole party to bail on a DM if they knew they were inexperienced but them choosing to leave so abruptly, I have to assume they'd decided the DM was a lost cause which, I personally, would only assign to an experienced DM - or one that claims to be. I can understand trying to teach a party they can run away but that can be achieved by giving the lesson once or twice, preferably staggered. Four sessions back-to-back for however long each session was is little more than tediously excessive and I can only imagine that the questioning at 16:02 was accompanied with exasperated sighs. Even if it's decided ahead of time that the world will be a difficult one, the DM should still have the tact to throw the players a bone every now and again. I'd love to know more of the story but from what little we have, I can't blame the players for jumping ship. Kinda sucky on their part to not consult the DM but still don't blame them.

    Fourth one: I started with BX d&d, and you ran away a lot at low levels because the world is the world; you could encounter an adult green dragon at level 1 because the random encounter chart was random. This is not nessicarily a problem if you are playing an osr game; heck the hex crawl in tomb of annialation for d&d 5e has things you cannot win against if you go straight to the jungle from the starting city if you run it as written. This might not be to op's taste, but this is not a "bad game." As the players can do things to affect their chances; holy water, turn undead, luring enimies off or killing them at range, setting traps... this just the dm encouraging more tactical play.
