i am old and have been knitting since i was 4 (over 60years) and i have been making 4 needle mittens for the grandkids...one thing i always do when knitting in the round is add an extra stitch to my cast on and when i start the round i slip that extra stitch on to my my first needle and knit two together, to form the circle..it gives added strength and makes the work seamless.. try it!

I use the caston side to make the extra stitch and slip it over the start of the caston and then tighten it and tie it onto the stitch on the other needle to join in the round

I just got sucked into the vortex of watching your crocheting videos (since I started crocheting a couple of weeks ago again), and now I'm your biggest fan! I love watching you create, and make your own clothing. It's so fun to follow your process while also working on my projects at the same time. Man, I wish we could just sit down with friends and crochet/knit together - how dang cool would that be. This makes me feel close to that, and it's so fun! Thanks for uploading & keep up the great work. That Balaclava ROCKS.

Constructive criticism: btw I love your videos and how aesthetic they are but you should def include all the materials that are in your vid like the stitch markers+yarn needle. Also when you are doing a demonstration you should consider doing it very slow and carefully without any cuts so we can see exactly what your doing kind of like rj knits.

I'd add a gauge too 🥺 Would be nice to know how many rows and stitches were used in a specific type of yarn and needes. Not everyone has access to the same brands of yarn and has the same body measurements 😅

Note to self for my poor work memory: 112 stitches 🕒 K2 P2 for 6 rows Continental ✅ Turn off animal crossing ✅ Take chin stitches off on scrap yarn 🥴 Change needles for stockinette 🤔 but to what needle? From what needle? 25 stockinette then decrease Each side count to 35 Add stitch marker Ssk , left leaning do i need to slip or just knit two together like i usually do? How many do i decrease? One per row? 16 rows No decreasing in the back Wait what is the gauge of this? And how long wire? Remove scrap yarn.. wait how do i add scrap yarn? Ssk hey that was not continental jenna 😠😭 I like sewing though Head portion done Dipsy looks fire Wait what is happening? Oh the chin part? Brb gonna call my grandma and ask her to knit in my acrylic and cotton yarn Update: she acrylic shamed me, i´m on my own 🫠 I just use my fingers when casting off oops Wait i don´t do long tail cast on, i knit them, will this make the head hole less stretchy?

It's so interesting to hear it because I learned knitting continental and I didn't know there's another way to do it, and it comes so naturally for me. I think that's because I learned to crochet first and after years crocheting it was just... Trivial?! I don't know, it's just interesting.

love this video, and I can't wait to try the pattern with some thrifted merino silk yarn I found a month ago. I like alternating between continental and english throwing, and I find that my wrists don't fatigue as much this way. I would recommend that you try to learn the twisted german cast on for stretchy things like hats and the balaclava. It is very similar to long tail cast-on except you twist a loop to add some yarn to the cast on, which makes it more stretchy!!

Hi jenna, I recommend you try out flicking. I use flicking & continental both. Continental uses more or my left hand, flicking uses more of right hand, so I switch between them whenever my hands get tired, and honestly, I am slightly faster and better tension control with flicking.

Hey! Continental knitting is kinda hard but I ended up doing a mix of continental and English! I hold the yarn in my right hand instead of the left and just feed the yarn through my fingers just like they do in continental. Idk if that makes sense but there’s tons of different ways to knit, just do what’s comfortable for you!

Continental seriously changed the knitting game for me. Much easier on smaller yarn btw, it won’t cause back issues over time. Just keep practicing it, and make sure you’re not purling backwards because I was when I first started and it made everything way harder than it had to be lol

I hold my yarn when knitting the same way I hold my yarn when I crochet. I knit continental style and combination (eastern and western variations sometimes). I actually find "the old fashion way of knitting" harder to do. Continental knitting is a more comfortable style for some who learned to crochet first.

NEED HELP ahahah!

@@catherineboudreau8399 What I did was take one stich that was set aside on my knit row, and knit together, then when I had to purl the other side I took another stich from the set aside section and incorporated. So you technically incorporate a stitch every time you reach the beginning or the end of a row. Idk if that was clear, but it worked for me.

Hi I'm enjoying knitting the balaklava. Is there a written pattern? I'm just wondering how many inches you do before you start the decrease? Thanks. I taught myself how to knit continental and like it very much.

When you join the back do you turn the hood inside out to work it? I’ve just finished it myself and my seam looks quite messy and I think I can see in the video you turning the hood inside out once you’ve finished. I’m a beginner so it’s all new to me x
