This pattern is fantastic. I made it and it is prettiest balaclava I've ever made. But I want to mention that this pattern is for little kids. It didn't fit my head. But I gave this to my younger sister. If you do this for you , you can start with more chains. Mayben55 chains. It is so cool. You will never regret it❤

Also. I think it looks cuter when it is little bit big. And the neck part doesn't stretch that much. So it would be better if you make it bigger

Just finished crocheting my balaclava. Thank you for the tutorial! I used DK yarn without moher and about half way through I realized that the balaclava is shaping up too small/tight, so I added more rows in the back, but it still just barely fits my head 😅 I ended up not bending/sewing the around-the-face ribbon so there's enough material covering the sides of my face. Might do it later if the balaclava stretches over time😊

I made more rows than the tutorial, with 28 sc and 22sl for the first row, and I started to make the L shape after row 30 (28+2, am i right?). rows 26 to 45 have to be 38 cms. since you added around 5 extra rows maybe try adding the same amount of rows, so maybe do 50 rows? for example i did 34 rows for the first part so the 45 rows would be 53 rows for me. hope this helped!!!

If tension or gauge isn’t the same, ir might be running small but you can make as many rows for middle part (R28-29)

On row 26 after crocheting 24 stitches you have to add 24 sc on the side that has the bumps which she points out at 7:37 .At the end of row 26 you chain 1 and turn your work to start row 27 then sc all the way around until the stitch marker. You’re basically crocheting an L shape.

you need to count from the first single crochet stitch back on the row. So the original 24 singles + the 24 new ones across the top will give you a total of 48 single crochet stitches :)
