took me 19 episodes of inital d to complete this, very easy to get the hang of and demonstrated very well. I loved how you made it clear what stitches you were going into, but also made it so we can have a little independence in crocheting all the rows, and choosing our own length.

I made this balaclava, it looks great on you the color is amazing too. But when i put it on, the back looks so pointy that i thought my head looked like mega mind. I didn't like that pointy look so I'm gonna start a new tutorial. I think you should've show the back too
@CherilynQ

Hi! There’s a way to get rid of the pointy bit. With the scoodie folded flat from the side, push the pointy bit in to the wrong side, try form a curvy/rounded shape from the right side. Use stitch markers to help maintain the shape. Then from the wrong side, sew along the curve to seal it off. If you’d still like to start a new one, find one that’s worked in rounds. If it’s worked in the same way as mine, it will be pointy at the top.

Thank you so much 💕 This design intentionally features a pointed end at the back. However, if you wish to soften the point, it can be done quite easily. Start by folding the point to the wrong side, creating a gentle curve on the right side when the hood lays flat with the left or right side up. Secure the shape by using pins or stitch markers. From the wrong side, seal off the pointed corner to prevent it from reverting to the right side. This will give your hood a more rounded shape. Hope this helps 🥰
this tutorial was really easy but i just wish you showed us the back of the hat because its really pointy and ive tried to get rid of it many times but its not working, so in just gonna have to take it apart

Hey! hopefully you see this as i’m still quite new in crochet. I was wondering whether it’s a problem if it doesn’t come out completely come out as a rectangle, as my over time (after like 3 rows) started to almost bend, im guessing that’s due to the tension so not sure if i have to start over or if it will be okay once i kind of fold it over??? looks great on you!!
@CherilynQ
4 ай бұрын
Hi! Fold it over and try it on you. If you like it, then it's okay 😊
hi can you tell me how long the 18 line panel is?
Lovely work! Did you use cotton or an acrylic yarn? What size is the yarn and hook that you used?
@CherilynQ
5 ай бұрын
Thanks! This is acrylic yarn, 8 ply / weight 3. I believed I used 5 mm, if I remember correctly.
I LOVE THIS PATTERN! i've made it twice! do you have any advice on sizing it down for a child's head? it's for a friend so can't measure as i go?
@CherilynQ
4 ай бұрын
The vertical measurement (st number) is relatively forgiving compare to the circumference (row count) because of the string. So I think it's safe to simply take away a few inches from the stitch count. However, for the row count, I suggest looking up the child's head circumference based on his/her age, minus the face width; this should be your target row count. Hope this helps!
this is a great tutorial, even tho mine's a bit weird. how do I avoid the back being pointy on mine? I'm going to start again.
@CherilynQ

Thanks! It's designed to be pointy at the back, like a hood. However, you CAN make it more curvy by tucking in the corner and seal it from the wrong side.

Hi! Yes, this one is pointy at the back, more like a hoodie.
Hi! Can I do this with mohair yarn alone? Or can I mix normal yarn with mohair? Kind of like using two strings together at the same time?
@CherilynQ
4 ай бұрын
Hi! Either can work. Just make sure you choose a suitable hook if you decide to mix them together.
Could you possibly give me dimensions for crocheting this for a two year old? I love it
Hey great tutorial!! Only thing is sometimes it’s easier if you say about how many chains you’ll need instead of inches !!
@CherilynQ
7 ай бұрын
Hi! Thank you! Chain number at 1:58 ☺️
is there a reason why you did BLO dc instead of regular double crochets? also, do we not have to chain 1 or 2 in the beginning of each row? thanks!
@CherilynQ
4 ай бұрын
BLO gives that striped texture I wanted and ch-1/ch-2 is replaced by that special dc I did at the beginning of the row, which makes the edge look better.
Can I use double crochet foundation chain for the first row?
@CherilynQ
4 ай бұрын
Yes, you can use that.
How can I do this one with cat ears? I saw your other video but I like this style better.
@CherilynQ
5 ай бұрын
You'll need to make the ears separately. I'm thinking about making a tutorial on that.
I’m not sure what’s going on with mine. My yarn recommends a size 5mm hook and I’m using a 6mm for that loose look and I worked up 18 rows and It’s not looking very big. I’m kinda just crocheting till it fits my head but it looks about half the size of yours when it should be looking bigger… Also my rib isn’t laying flat. Should I keep adding rows or just block it out and hope for the best. I’m honestly so confused
@aloegarden
2 ай бұрын
the same thing is happening to me rn! i’ve done 18 rows but i can tell it isn’t going to fit on my head. i think my tension is way too high so the rows have sort of clumped together. how many rows did you end up doing??
@Lili613b
2 ай бұрын
@@aloegarden OHHH OKAY so i did about 22 i think then put some safety pins in and stretched and pulled and it was actually TOO big at that point. I guessed that my yarn was too soft and wasn't holding its shape enough (since the yarn they used looked more structured). I took two rows out and left it with 20, since we'd add some more chains around the face later. It ended up fitting but definitely isn't baggy. I'll probably give it a wash and see how it looks later.

Mine got very pointy where I crocheted it together. How can I avoid that?
@CherilynQ
6 ай бұрын
Use a loose tension, a larger hook or you can use a yarn needle to sew it together. Sewing using the mattress stitch would guarantee a flat seam.
@leck4emba
5 ай бұрын
I find it easier to draw the stitches together at the top from the inside and then I pull up on a couple of the inside stitches to kind of tuck it so it more round from the outside. Hope this helps. 😊
Is there a specific reason you began the double crochet in the first stitch the way way you did?
