@@manuelalbertoromero9528 the vanilla version didn't come with complete DLC unless you gotten the season pass. Also, the Disgaea 1 trio were DLC as well which was the first time that ever happened.

My Collector's Edition from NIS came in yesterday. Haven't had a chance to load it in yet, but I will after work today.

I think you can start with wichever picks your interest, most of the games has stand alone stories as far as I know. You do get a lot of cameos but it doesn't affect the stories.

@@elwinroyale I can wait. They released it in such poor quality all while making massive changes to the Disgaea formula. While I'm fine with them taking big risks, I can't justify buying it if I don't know that I will enjoy it on top of the fact that it looks and runs not well.

The god of destruction is reminiscent of Trillion; a game made by Compile Heart as a loveletter to Disgaea. ...But he has blonde hair for some stupid reason and the main character looks like zombie Dynamight Deku. I'm too much of a mark to not look into this at all, but I'm undecided about buying it. For every good point I find, there's a drawback.

The games are mostly stand alone stories, but characters from past games do come back. You don't need to play the older ones, but if you haven't 1,4, and 5 are on switch as well.

I recommend you get Disgaea Hour of Darkness. The first game that started it all, and has possibly the most loved main character in the series.

@@TwistedTZ The Japanese version apparently came out in January for both Switch and PS4, it's possible that it will eventually release on PS4 in the US as well. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if they decided not to, because of Sony's whole censorship thing

@@TwistedTZ If avoiding censorship is one of your priorities, I would highly recommend PC. There quite a lot of anime games that get ported from PC to console, that simply can't be released without being censored in some way. And even when games are censored on PC (like Yugioh card art, or console remakes/ports), they can be uncensored with patch files.

I bought D5 on Switch when I was looking for new stuff to play, and I really tried to get into the series, but just couldn't. I really want to like these games.

Same here, I kinda like the feeling of starting out with small stats then working up to much bigger stronger stats. Though I suppose it's probably the gimmick of Disgaea 6.

Yeah. Makes all the stats feel "floaty". One of Disgaea's relative strengths was how crisp all the numbers felt. Disgaea 6, I no longer have any idea how much damage a thing is going to do, my ability to eyeball damage is gone, and gear in particular seems to be really wonkey. Of all the changes, this is among my least liked. That and forcing the auto-hospital, with no way to turn it off via cheat shop, and the absolute massacre of beloved monster units make up the dark trinity.

Love d5 if this one is good imma get it.

This game is not worth getting yet, until they do a complete there are too many features and classes arbitrarily removed to justify the purchase outside of wanting the collectors stuff

and this is a situation where nobody can say "the switch is weak" because we got DOOM eternal and MH rise running perfectly, so NIS was simply lazy and refused to optimize it.

You can absolutely start with this one! Every game has its own cast of characters and story. Old characters can usually be recruited as a bonus but you don't have to know them to play. Check out the demo for this game on the eshop to see if you like it.

you can start from this one. the gameplay gets more polished with each release though so keep that in mind if you decide to go backwards after playing D6

Disgaea 6 denied us soooo many features just to make certain elements 3D that nobody even asked for. It's the first title not to have an anime clip opening too. 😐 The budget cuts that went to 3D were so wasted.

Major fps problem but you can solve it by changing to performance mode then the fps is okay but the graphics take a huge hit everything becomes pixelated😑 they will probably fix all of that in an update 😁

not really. You don't actually have to grind that much (if at all) if you don't have a large party. If you have 12 characters then you'll grind a lot but if you stick to the minimum you'll just have to be a good strategizer
