Just a small FYI from someone who has played the game for over a year: yes this trailer is amazing and beutiful, but this is not actual game play!!!! The game is breathtaking and the art style is unique and ever evolving. This trailer does not reflect how the actual game looks or operates. The trailer is showing what the world of sky looked like long ago in the game's lore, but the actual in-game world is far far far different. Please know that the game looks different, but do not let that discourage you from playing. This game is quite possibly the best free mmorpg of the modern era and there is no other like it. Please give it a try!!!

This is underrated. I took my time exploring all the locations and discovering things with my sister. I know I would not have enjoyed it as much if someone just dragged me through everything. Now that I am finished with the game, I look back on those times exploring with my sister and wish I could do it again. Those kinds of experiences are ruined if you rush or drag someone through a game like this.

SO true! Also let your friends play though and discover their first time around, my friend didn't let me do this sometimes (partly because of how prone I am to dying in a game so they didn't trust me to make it though LOL) but I still wish some things I could've done on my own. I ended up at the end game in less then 6 hours because I was just being dragged along in a speed run. It is my fave game tho and I'm glad I was able to do it with a friend. tbh I would've been SOOOOO pissed had a stranger done this to me.

Same. I've only come across 1 toxic thing in the whole year I've played since it came to switch. Just a moth being left by veterans in the wastelands. Other than that, nothing by people being super welcoming and nice.

😂 Exactly what I was thinking !

Trailer represents the word of Sky as it was before the darkness took over. In the game the darkness has devoured the land. We aid the world spirits and the lost children whilst weeding out this suffocating darkness. As each game season passes by with our hard work, the world of sky restores a grain of its former glory. Perhaps in the games future, along with the growing storyline, we players get to fully restore the world of sky to how it once was before the darkness.

The game is all about exploring and trying to figure out how things work, peck thinks it more fun actually having to figure out the lore with visuals and visuals give it a better feel personally. @@hollowemptyeyes9910 actually, I can confirm that this is the first skykid. He was the first to fall, as he was sent by the Light as a scout to bring back the Elders. You can tell its a skykid because he doesn't blink and has a baselight on his chest. TGC has confirmed that spirits, skykids and Elders aren't ancestor related in any way.

@@LethargySniping there are the seasonal events, and those usually last 60 days, there are things you can only get after playing through the game to the ending multiple times. And there's also just exploring the world and making friends, collecting the cosmetics and playing the instruments too

note to switch owners: * as a sky player, this doesn't look much like the game until the very end! they seem to be journeying to the kingdom of sky... * the graphics aren't as beautiful as they are here, but it's still a very beautiful game and very much worth checking out. * sharp turns are harder to do while flying on the switch, but i made a workaround by toggling flight mode quickly and boosting if needed! * have fun, and welcome to sky!

I've got to be honest here: this game looks absolutely stunning for a free-to-play game. I'd definitely recommend this game to people who love relaxing adventure games.

@@Link-Link it's an adventure game with different worlds and relies heavily on social interactions with other players. Each world is pretty unique and worth exploring, but I wouldn't call it an open world game really

I stumbled upon this game when i was really bored. I took my time playing this game and explore everything on my own and honestly it was the best experience. Dont let a veteran player drag you everywhere else coz it will ruin the experience and the overall story. As a two year veteran player, my advice to new players is this: Dont rush yourself. Take your time and enjoy the scenery, the story, the music, etc. ❤️ You won't regret it.

Ive been playing sky for 8 months and never could have fathomed how much this game would mean to me and the friends I would make when I clicked the download button what feels like so long ago.... its a semi free roam with different worlds to explore each embodying their own unique vibe. Special events and “seasons” happen frequently bringing in new places to explore and cool cosmetics to collect. If I had to compare this game to something id say a mix between breath of the wild and little big planet. Absolutely phenomenal game and ive played every single day since the day I downloaded it. If you were looking for a sign to download it THIS IS YA DAMN SIGN.

BRO THE FIRST TIME I PLAYED THIS GAME I THOUGHT “DAM THIS WOULD LOOK GREAT ON A SWITCH” AND NOW HERE IT IS. GOD IK EXCITED FOR THIS GAME Edit: Alright so I went ahead and played it and everything. Nonetheless, I am impressed with the game but I think there is some room for improvement. Firstly: The controls felt a bit weird, almost as if there was a delay between my input and the results. But I think you can learn to ignore that Secondly: The camera in this game is on literal crack, it just does its own thing if you want it to or not, it needs to let me control the camera the way I want. No need to pull me towards the objective or any spirits that come by, it's an (semi?) open-world game. Let the player explore. Thirdly: I did face some animation issues and glitches with the textures and graphics loading. Especially in the "Golden Wasteland" map, which seems to have had a lot of texture issues with land glitching with the sea and whatnot. Often the models seem to get stuck in a certain position as well during a cut scene like a spirit just freezing during a cut scene or having a very "stuttered" animation. Lastly: I think the flight controls need some improvements as well, there need to be some options to control the sensitivity of our movements, it also sometimes feels like the sensitivity shifts. The camera during the flight is an issue as well refer to the 2nd point. This game is definitely not unplayable, pretty great actually and I'm seriously impressed with the graphics and the audio quality. This game would thrive on the switch but it really needs to fix these minor issues.

i also believe there's too much hand-holding with its controls. the game essentially makes jumps for you by locking on to the nearest platform, which makes sense considering its a mobile game and mobile devices dont have the dexterity that controllers do, but as its no longer a mobile exclusive anymore, there's no need for it. id appreciate if i was at least given the option to turn off these features, similar to how fps's have the option to toggle aim assist on or off. some more control customization in general would be appreciated, as we only have the ability to turn off rumble or invert camera/flight controls. even simple stuff like camera sensitivity, flight sensitivity, the aforementioned "jump assist" toggle, maybe a camera assist toggle (turns off those moments where the game pulls your camera towards an objective), would be greatly appreciated. the game is still incredibly fun, but these quality of life changes would make it so much more enjoyable

Beautiful animation but looks nothing like the game. I hope some day the game can look like this but that's a far far away future. At least we get a little of history of the past, and it's breathtaking

Don’t let it keep you from playing the game though. The graphics in the gameplay are still amazing. This is just a cinematic trailer for the lore behind the game (a lot of games make these trailers too). Remember that this is originally a mobile game, phones can’t stand these kinds of graphics lol.

For those who do play, The game doesnt look exactly like this (as detailed) but its still stunning and the story is basically the same

Sky has a different story to tell in every realm. It hides beneath the Parietal art that can be found everywhere. I hope someday they will share the whole story with this animation, to inspire more players to support the game.

Just recently played sky, and of course I was a confused moth. A veteran player approached me and they we're so nice! They led me to all the spirits. If it wasn't for her/his/their help, I wouldn't achieve my goal.

I'm not complaining at all. Even though they don't look exactly the same, a lot of the elements in the trailer are also in the game. Also, how often do we get new lore from a trailer and not just views of existing or new content?

Hot take, krill are corrupted whales, darkness plants grow off the corpses of fallen sky kids, and the battleground in wasteland was a war between the 2 factions of spirits from valley of triumph.

why do the trailer looks better than the game itself ?

Here before we all look back on this trailer again in years

some interesting notes about this trailer for those exploring the lore: - the child we see strongly resembles the “winged light” statues we collect, and similarly lacks a cape and has short hair - the creature they are riding looks very similar to the dark dragons (krills), except for the wings. its possible the dark dragons lost their wings when darkness corrupted them, similar to how we lose wings when we’re exposed to darkness. it also similarly projects a light from its eye - the being the child is riding with is most likely an ancestor, which means they werent always a spectral form. we are interacting with their ghosts - this child could be the prince who becomes the king, and could be the same child we see that fell during one of the memories in isle. its also possible this is the first child, or star that fell - at the end, we see all of the stars fall, except one. it twinkles and then falls, and we are shown the current state of the isle. this star is most likely us - the mountain eden is on lacks the castle we see current day - they seem to be traveling to the isle (which could disprove this child being the child we see fall to the isle in one of the memories), unless the sequence of events is out of order. the scenes seem to jump from different times of day. some parts seem to resemble the wasteland and the forest - the dark creatures during the forest scene could be crabs, but they seem to be more akin to hermit crabs. they have objects on their back similar to the bells we see in the prairie. they also have red “eyes”, which is similar to the dark stones we find in eden. if this is the first child / prince, this suggests some dark creatures existed before things became very corrupt - the childs mask lacks a glowing stone on the forehead. this could be a design choice specifically for the trailer so it doesnt look like he has 3 eyes, but it could be lore related - the isle is noticeably more prosperous and green than we see current day. this is either due to corruption, or because the ancestors began migrating further to eden, leaving it behind

it’s free but i think a lot of people would pay 60 bucks for it 😌 this game is absolutely beautiful and like a second home to me. i’ve met so many amazing friends on sky in the last year and a half and i cannot express how much i love this game

I keep getting ads for this game so I might as well check it out. edit: the trailer didnt really tell much about the game but it looks neat so im probably gonna look more into it and get it edit 2: Ight I’ll get it

I can attest to this game you guys. It is so beautiful. Soundtrack and all. I played it on my Ipad and will be picking it up again for me switch.

Amazing I love this trailer so much! Been playing Sky for many months now and even though this trailer does not show the actual gameplay, Sky is like free therapy.

Man what a trailer Not only does it look amazing but it also adds some lore to the world of Sky!

Someone who's been around since last summer here! This game's awesome if you wanna goof around with friends and strangers alike. I don't know when the switch moths will arrive but I'm ready to help em!!

Rip the switch players who thought the graphics were actually like this This is the reason why gameplay trailers are the best

THE LORE FROM THIS ALONE IS IMMACULATE

Played it on ipad few years back, it was so relaxing. Even playing with a total stranger. Holding hands, flying around - very unique and bonding experience.

Is that some lore I'm seeing? Yes, please. The game is sorely lacking in this area!

1. It's intentional. The devs want you to be hungry for it and keep playing so they carrot on a stick you. When you start to lose interest in it, they do this. 2. The game is abstract. It has lore, its just not blantantly told like others. In reality, Sky honestly has very good stuffing in the lore department.

@@carmenlf4736 journey was a superb game. Funny thing was I played Journey AFTER my sixth playthrough of sky. The "stuffing" you'd learn in sky only comes from trailers like this and long exploration, which most people don't do on playthrough number one. You can find ruins and pictures depicting or showing what happened in the Desolation and the final level (Eye of Eden) pulls it all together. And of course everyone liked this! who knew that the Isle was a paradise! I do agree this was exiting though. As you said, to each his own! :)

I’ve been playing Sky for over a year now and it’s my favourite game. Whenever I’m anxious or stressed, Sky and its community always makes me feel better. This trailer is so awesome! A lot of things we (from the Discord Lore Chat) have seen in concept art were in this and I love it so much. This game is just so amazing.
