The Original Black’s Barbecue is the oldest in Texas, run by the same family since 1932. 3rd Generation Pitmaster Kent Black slow smokes all Barbecue the way his grandfather did in 1932. A simple rub, local Post Oak Wood and patience is the secret. Their brisket is truly legendary.
🤤 HOMEMADE SAUSAGE: Black’s BBQ’s 80 year old recipe and techniques remain the same as each ring is hand stuffed and hand tied, then smoked to perfection. Take the brisket trimmings and chop them up, then place them in a mixer. Along with the chopped meat, add the mixture (salt, pepper, and a flour based binder) and water. Fine grind it so it comes out looking almost like hamburger meat. Pour into the stuffer. Stuff the casings with ground meat. Cut and tie them. Place in the smoker and allow them to smoke for about an hour.
💸PRICE: $3.99 per ring
🥩 BRISKET: Take raw brisket and trim off the fat. Begin by cutting some of the lean end off (this meat is used for sausage). Trim off the edges to make it round and make it more aerodynamic, which helps give the brisket less chance to burn. Cut off 2/3 of the hard fat. Continue trimming. Add Blacks secret seasoning, which includes special salt and pepper, red pepper, cayenne and secrets, and massage into the fibers of the meat. Place the raw brisket in the smoker and allow it to smoke for 6 hours. After the first cook, let the meat rest by removing the brisket and placing it in a walk-in cooler to dry-age for a few days. After dry-aging, it’s time for the second cook. Place the brisket back in the smoker for another roughly 6 hours, until your brisket is mouth-wateringly perfect. Don’t forget to enjoy it with Black’s infamous Norma Jean’s Original BBQ Sauce!

I've been to texas and what I noticed was texans know how to cook cow's and tenderized beef. When I was there, I had tanterlizing tasty beef spare ribs plus brisket dishes - I tried a variety of them. And they were so tasty with the different variety of flavored rubs. Unbelievable.

In the cities it’s a little different than how my family does it out in the fields. Us Texans are experts in meat. Like I mean we use every piece of the cow. Including skirt steak which we turn into fajitas. You would love to try our duberry pie. And for context I live in the suburbs of San Antonio but I have family that lives out in the countryside and it beautiful out there. We also have meat for weddings and stuff. Also try chicken fried steak and our ocra :)
I love family owned businesses. They’re the one who lasts through generations.

There is no place better than this place right here!!!! I live in Texas and have eaten at plenty of BBQ, but The Original Black's in Lockhart... Let me just say this video brought back sooooooo many good memories of the last time I was there! The entire experience is something everyone should try. Yes... it is an experience. The smell of the air, the taste of the food, and the atmosphere of the people are so great that you feel like you are transported into heaven (or at least Texas' version of it).
It’s so good to see a successful family business still in operation, especially for how many years they have been in business. Not gonna lie that brisket was looking good, kinda made me want to jump through the tv lol. Love the channel a lot.

I'm lucky, Lockhart is up the road from me. Been to Black's,Smitty's but haven't tried Kreutz's or Chilsom Trail yet, but need to. There's a place in Seguin called The Bean Pit or Bean pot. It too is bbq, supposedly it ranks Number 4 in Texas according I think Texas Monthly . It's only 20 miles from me, so need to try it. Lot of great places to eat here in Central Texas, in fact in Texas period.

Kent Black was awesome! One of the tough things with doing vids at US locations is the people don't have a full story to tell. He was full of history and was on point with Sonny's humor as well!

Funny how almost nobody understands that Cows = Female, Steers/Bulls = Male, and Cattle = the collective species term. Steers are used for meat. Cows are for milk. So you are NOT eating a brisket from a cow. You're eating a brisket from a steer.

Thanksgiving 2015 my Texan family brought us poor souls in Los Angeles a brisket from Blacks. My first bite of Blacks brisket was a life altering experience. I have since become obsessed with barbecue. Purchased a Big Green Egg and now I smoke some legit brisket. Thank you Blacks for opening my heart to barbecue (while slowly closing my arteries).
