    As a Texan I'm averse to sauces. That being said I absolutely love the sauce here. What a great place to eat and a wonderfully impressive place to take guests. And the coleslaw here is top notch...it's very different to traditional slaw and on a hot day it's very refreshing.

  • @mtascp05
    @mtascp05 Жыл бұрын

    I've been here a few times and it's a great experience. The place is out of the city and even when really busy, there's always some open tables. I think what is different is the coleslaw. It's not the standard mayo creamy stuff, but it's vinegary and acidic but not overly so. It's very refreshing when chowing down on all that fatty brisket.

    Sonny great Vid! I also am from Mn, my Brother and I did a weekend BBQ tour that started off with the Houston Livestock show and Rodeo BBQ contest, then we headed up to Lexington to go to Snows then over to Lockhart to hit up Smitty’s, Kreuz and Blacks then over to Austin for Franklins and a short trip out to Salt lick BBQout in Driftwood. Loved them all, what a great time! I never imagined the Salt licks cookers were so huge but based on the size of that place it’s not surprising. IMHO I thought the Best BBQ. I had during that whole trip was the smoked Turkey breast at Franklins, yes after eating BBQ all over the Texas, it was the best thing I remember so you know it was good.

    Those beef ribs are different because they are back ribs rather than short ribs. Back ribs normally have less meat on them because they are right next to the rib roast (think prime rib/ribeye). Since the rib roast is a rather valuable cut, when bones are separated from the roast, butchers cut close to the bone so as to maximize profits.

    Yeah, isn't that a bunch of crap? It is bad enough that beef ribs are generally tough and mostly bone, but these local Texas butchers cut away the meat and leave you dog food. Beef ribs really suck. I cook pork ribs exclusively.

    Since beans are a dry good that can last a long time, cowboys relied on them for food, as well as a good source protein. So it was a common side at a lot of meals, especially when BBQ was served. Therefore, it's kind of tradition for beans to be served with BBQ.

    That's not blood lol, when cooked chicken has that color next to the bone, its bone marrow pigment that seeped into the meat. That chicken is certainly cooked well.

    Sonny, Most folks don't know that Original Buffalo Wing sauce was/is mustard base. So this joint gets my OTR Trucker vote, as a must eat. I know this might sound strange, but that BBQ looked sexy af. I'm sitting here ready to chew my own arm off, with only hot dogs in my fridge. You make me laugh, whenever you talk about Minnesota, and Mayonnaise. I had a gf from there, and she had no problem Hoovering down a tablespoon of mayo after making some Mayo drenched "Heathy Salad". When we broke up, my heart hurt, but not from missing her. From all the fucking mayo on everything! I lost 85 pounds within the first 3 months. God Bless Texas! (says the man from Philly) WB

    Franklin's is better. This place literally smokes their food and refrigerates it. Then they throw products on the big grill to warm it back up. They try to claim it "makes the BBQ better", but that is BS. They do it because they can seat hundreds of people and need to have enough stock to feed that many people. Franklin's is cooked fresh every day and when they sell out it is done for the day, and it sells out every day.

    That selection on your meat platter looked absolutely amazing and delicious. The only thing I’d say that would be missing off there for me would be a shoulder of bacon. This is something Irish people cook up. You basically have a pork picnic roast that has been cured. Then you boil it up in a large pot remove it from the water shred up cabbage and added to the water so all the salt and bacon flavour is absorbed into the cabbage. You cook it up and serve it with the potatoes. Three ingredient dish. That’s delicious bacon, cabbage and potatoes. Now granted, bacon, cabbage and potatoes wouldn’t go well on that platter what the shoulder of bacon would think of pulled pork but bacon flavour this is what it is. In my opinion, it is the greatest piece of bacon on the planet. It is better than streaky bacon. It is better than back bacon. It is better than the colour of bacon and it’s better than a ham without a doubt. The flavour the texture everything about it it’s just iconic. You have all the flavour from the fat absorbed into the meat. You have all the flavour coming from the bone, absorbed into the meat. Without a doubt, it is easily one of the best pieces of meat you will eat in your life. So that amazing platter. The only thing missing from that for me would be the shoulder of bacon. Now I’m an Irishman, true and true, born in the country and moved to North America. However, Texas does have some Irish immigrants that set up communities back in 1828. So Texas could easily embrace the shoulder of bacon. I wonder what it would be like smoked.

    Sir, this is a video about Texas BBQ. What does an Irish dish have to do with BBQ, especially if you have never tried it before? Just go look for a video about Bacon if it is that important to you. Seriously.

    @@SANTIS2099 I'm aware it was about Texas barbecue but this also displayed a fantastic delicious meat platter . And in my opinion the only thing missing from that was a shoulder of bacon to make it heaven on Earth you would have to bake and you would have the ribs you would have to brisk it it would be the promised Land.
