Dinghy cruising a Welsford 'navigator' Episode 7 Cruising the river Tamar

Спорт

Arwen, is a John Welsford designed 'navigator' standing lug sail yawl. In this video we sail the meander between Weir Quay and Halton Quay on the river Tamar in a small open boat.
Other videos on my channel cover my developing skills in dinghy cruising and maintaining a small open boat along the coastal waters and rivers of SW England. I post at least one video or blog post a fortnight. Follow Arwen's blog at www.arwensmeanderings.blogspot.com
If you enjoy everything to do with learning to sail small open boats and dinghy camping cruising along stunning scenery then come subscribe to our channel and blog. We look forward to hearing and sharing your comments, thoughts and tips.

Thank you for the beautiful video. At Minute 3:00+ you mention touching the ground with the center board. Would it be possible and even preferable to retract the center board when sailing down wind?

That's a great still shot from the drone looking back down-river at the end of this episode!

Looking again I can see the boat moving on the river - very little else gives it away!

In what way...good, bad...? And don't judge UK sailors on my efforts....I'm a very poor sailor and the vast majority of small boat sailors I know are extraordinarily skilled and talented 😄

@@plymouthwelshboy in America we turn everything into work, even sailing. From the video's I have watched on small vessel sailing you have an approach to life, and sailing that I find preferable. You seem to relax into your life. Your videos are great.

@@plymouthwelshboy at some point can you recommend a camera set. I was going to buy two go Pro blank 8 or 9. They are very expensive. I bought a stabilizer for a camera, but no camera. My old Go Pro 2 died.

Depends what the stabiliser is that you have. I am jury out on the GoPro hero 9. I have a new one and I'm not sure about it yet. DJI osmo action is supposed to be very good. Lots of GoPro fans seem to be sticking with hero7 or hero 8 black. Depends what you want camera to do......as well. If looking at action cams . Try these review sites. www.digitalcameraworld.com/uk/buying-guides/the-best-action-cameras also. www.techradar.com/uk/news/best-action-camera also www.t3.com/news/best-action-cameras I'm not unhappy with GoPro 9 just not yet sure about it........needs more.field testing
