So peaceful. I am pleased you resisted adding lift music. The peace of quiet sailing is a large part of the enjoyment.

I'm ashamed to admit I did succumb to the muzak temptation on one my other videos ...it won't happen again! Totally agree about the peace and quiet thing. It's why I really dont like using the outboard - if I can leave it at home, I will.

I Watched your scotland vid then found this.Made me giggle as i was there the same time in an old gaff sloop. ice on the boat one morning. the broads are an IRPCS nighhtmare as your probably aware by now. top tip is kneel on your bow and use an oar like a paddleboard. much easier than trying to row a sailboat. plus you can fend off easy when it goes wonky. i always use the ferry inn in horning as a home base when i take my valiant kids age 6 and 8. love your vids. cant believe you only saw one accident lol

Rowing works really well as long as the mast isn't lying on deck. Good thought about the paddling over the bow thing though .... would need to get the rudder up, but leave a bit of plate down, I guess .... I'll give it go next time. There is always sculling over the stern too - I just haven't set up for that yet. Glad you enjoyed the videos!

Lovely Wayfarer and the broads are beautiful all year round, you can always find some very peaceful places to relax and chill out with a dinghy. Hope all the boat traffic hasn't put you off returning. Unfortunately you can hire a stink boat over 40ft long and just as wide with only about 20 minutes training 😩. Thanks for sharing 👍😊.

That wayfarer looks nothing like my wayfarer II. I think you would have a hard time convincing someone they were the same boat. I can stow my oars under the foredeck or poke them under there and then bring them back under the thwart and stow them under the seats. My tiller arm... you could not break it by sitting on it or even bouncing up and down. It is a solid hunk of wood going into a solid hunk of stainless wrapped around the top of the rudder. Not a chance. With the beam it is difficult to row in narrow spaces. Maybe you need a gondolier's pole :)

they looked clueless to me, that was not a wayfarer, so it was doomed from the moment I realised that.

I did the Broads last year for the first time and came away with the same thoughts as you, but....I'm going back in a month's time with a bigger and better plan :) I did fit a transom rowlock just so I could skull in tight situations - and I did need it! Saw a few very close calls with first-time motor-boaters.

I remember them as 'Bald as a coot' = white head. Therefore, red head = moorhen.

Ha Ha, thanks! It's home made ! The main part was actually made for my dad's Wildfire, but it adapted reasonably well to the Wayfarer. I did have to make a new front section to cope with the lack of washboards on the Mark 4 Wayfarer. Cloth came from Point North.
