Sailing up the river Lynher

Спорт

'Mudlarking at midnight?' Part One
In this video, part one of three about an overnight cruise up the river Lynher, we cruise Plymouth Sound in light winds, before making passage up the river Tamar to Henn Point, which is just below the Saltash road and rail bridges. We navigate the 'Bridges' on the west side of Drakes Island, pop into the Millbrook mudbanks area to try and find dolphin and negotiate the Tamar ferries crossing before picking up a mooring at Henn Point.
You can find out lots more about Arwen, a John Welsford designed 'navigator' day sailing and cruising dinghy by visiting her blog at www.arwensmeanderings.blogspot.co.uk
Use the search bar to find posts on everything to do with dinghy cruising, from building galley boxes, to safety gear carried on board, sleeping arrangements and passage logs about our microadventures along the SW Devon/Cornwall coasts and their rivers. The blog has been going for fourteen years now.
Our KZread channel is conveniently arranged into playlists covering topics such as west country rivers, maintenance projects and more. Primarily a visual diary for my future '80 year old self', it also promotes dinghy cruising around the Plymouth Sound Marine National Park area.
We proudly fly the burgees of the Dinghy Cruising Association and the Small Traditional Sailing Boats group - both of which can be found on Facebook.
We look forward to you joining us on our cruising adventures and we welcome any constructive, positive comments and tips. Arwen's skipper is primarily a self taught sailor and both he and Arwen think we can all agree she deserves someone with much better intuitive sailing ability, skills and knowledge, to do justice to her incredible design and sea worth properties.
Take care now and fair winds to you all.
Steve and Arwen

So glad to see you again, Cap't. Steve. I especially enjoy the geo-historical background with which you enhance your fine videos. Looking forward to the next part. Thank you for your generosity.

I'm 64, been sailing most of my life and I can't remember the last time we had a season this windy, I have sailed a lot, but it has been challenging at times!

It has been a funny old year I must admit. I've struggled a bit this year with my sailing to be sure

Didn't realise you had built your boat. Plymouth is lovely. Spent a week there in the summer doing my day skipper practical course.

Yeah first boat I've ever built so lots of learning and plenty of mistakes. But she sails well despite having an idiot skipper and builder 😆 and yes Plymouth is an amazing sailing destination. I'm very lucky I know

Hi Steve very well in fact I'm in the U.K. at the moment but going back at the weekend. A tight schedule otherwise I would have joined you in the West country for a little sail on Arwen and a few beers, cheers Paul@@plymouthwelshboy

Happy memories of that area. I spent a Winter between foreign voyages in my cruising boat, living aboard on a river mooring buoy at Weir Quay. I did a fair bit of exploring in the inflatable when the weather was fine. Nice video, Steve. 👍

Well as a poor sailor with limited sailing skills I have to admit I was perplexed over the anchoring issue which crops up in the next episode. You both well? Also can I ask a daft question...did you used to do lots of canoeing or kayaking or did I imagine you saying that to me one time?
