Dinghy cruising a Welsford 'navigator': Overnight camp cruising up the Southpool Creek

Спорт

Welcome to my channel about dinghy cruising a John Welsford designed 'navigator' standing lug sail yawl called Arwen. In this second video, I overnight up the creek and show how I set up Arwen for sleeping on-board.
Other videos on my channel cover my developing skills in dinghy cruising and maintaining a small open boat along the coastal waters and rivers of SW England. I post at least one video or blog post a fortnight. Follow Arwen's blog at www.arwensmeanderings.blogspot.co.uk
If you enjoy everything to do with learning to sail small open boats and dinghy camping cruising along stunning scenery then come subscribe to our channel and blog. We look forward to hearing and sharing your comments, thoughts and tips.

Another wonderful video, thank you. I thoroughly enjoy watching and listening. I am a South African now living in New Zealand (a little over three years now). I brought my Mirror dinghy along from SA and have kitted it out for cruising. Roger Barnes initially inspired the idea and have since found your channel. Both your channels are fantastic inspiration, soothing entertainment and wonderfully informative. Keep them coming, and thanks again.

I do take a fishing rod. Used to be a very keen fisherman but over the years become more environmentally aware and so have moved away from it. I'm ok with those who fish and eat the catch, I have no problem with that but just fishing as sport and throwing them back...I'm less comfortable with now

I love the voiceover technique - reminiscent of those old Betjeman films. Nicely unhurried and clear. Can I ask a question though? Where did you get your long flat seat cushions from? I have some old ones that need replacing that I bought from a boat jumble, I think in Maryport yonks ago, and I’ve never found any others on sale since.

Thank you. The cushions I got from the Newton abbot boat jumble about seven years ago. There is a little stall which turns up every so often. I'm really sorry but I don't have any more details than that. However, if I go to the boat jumble this September and he is there...do you want me to contact you via messengerwith his details or get some for you and we can sort out getting them to you afterwards?

Hi Kevin. Thanks - glad you enjoyed it. They came from the Newton Abbott boat jumble many years ago. There was a stall holder there who made and sold them - cannot remember his name - he wasn't at last years jumble, well that is I didn't find him , so I don't know whether he is still going or not. You can make them them - all you need is the material and foam via ebay and a speedy stitcher tool - a greater winter project f you like that sort of thing. Mine are worn, stained but still functional.

I really enjoy your films -- you know how to point a camera and tell a story --- brilliant. They'd be even better if you could improve the recording of your voice over as it is very "breathy" in places, for example right at the star of this film. Some advice here: idratherbewriting.com/2010/03/10/4-avoiding-plosives-and-breathing-noises-developing-a-personal-voice-in-audio/ Just constructive criticism and in no way meant to cause any offence.
