Ep. 9 - DINGHY CAMP CRUISING THE PIEMAN RIVER, TASMANIA (in a Welsford Navigator)
Can the Navigator survive a bone-crunching 5 hour drive up the West Coast of Tasmania? Does Jo prove that a Hobie Lynx can conquer the Pieman River? Can Mat bring home an Abalone and what will Jo do if he doesn't? Where do trees go to die and do Wombats eat humans? All this and more will be revealed in this very 'special' cruise up the magnificent Pieman River.

Thanks mate. It was one of our favourite videos to make as well. A very peaceful adventure.
Good thing someone reminded you to put that life jacket on!
Corinna is a fabulous place to stay. The trip down the Pieman River to the heads is also well worth it, better if you have a small sailing craft like the Welsford Navigator. Regards.

You're taking us to places that most of us are unlikey to see. Spectacular work. Well done.

Great footage along the river, loved the Navigator shots at sunset, especially that last one. Have located the Navigator construction photos mentioned previously , but couldn't see any way of contacting you on your channel. YT deleted my posts that had any links in them unfortunately, cheers, Laurie.

What an awesome little getaway. I have only had abalone once, I remember using my scuba tank to tenderize it😂😂😂
@SmallCraftTasmania-ms4sx

Yep, some do that...but if you can chill the abalone down slowly it kills them before they go tuff. Like anesthetising the fish, rather than shocking it quickly.
Nice adventure! Really liked the video.

@@SmallCraftTasmania-ms4sx no l understand , I don't want everyone knowing my personal, just fascinated by it all, would love to trade boats my self, in fact stay at home and scrape, paint and work would be my retirement if it was possible. Love the work you do.Thanks again.👍
I haven't done any river sailing, so I'd like to ask some silly questions. If I am sailing South in a current of 5 knots (its a wide fast river) and the wind is blowing South at 10 knots. Will I get my normal speed in 10 knots of wind? i.e. if I normally sail 5 knots in 10 knots of wind, will I now get 10 knots with current? What if the wind is on the beam and at a right angle to the water flow? If there is no wind at all will I have steerage going downriver?

Great questions. I'm not an expert on river sailing but a google search brings up some good articles: www.pbo.co.uk/cruising/12-tips-sailing-norfolk-broads-17423
