Dinghy cruising is refreshment for the soul?

Спорт

A part one of two videos about a day sail around Plymouth Sound after a long absence from sailing Arwen. Arwen is a 14' 6" John Welsford designed standing lug yawl, his 'navigator' dinghy. You can find other videos about Arwen and my voyages together on our KZread channel, where they have been organised into playlists for your convenience. Arwen also has her own blog at www.arwensmeanderings.blogspot.co.uk
If you are into motorhoming, Arwen has a sister blog about Bryony, our motorhome, found at www.wherenexthun.blogspot.com
If you enjoy Arwen's vlogs and blogs, then why not click subscribe and drop us a comment. If there is anything you like to see more of, or about Arwen, in a forthcoming vlog, then let us know below. Fair winds to you all, happy sailing, stay safe and thanks for stopping by.

It most certainly is. I don't mind windy; I'll accept the odd shower BUT not having any sunshine - yuck! :)

G'day mate. LOL this from an Ely boy, who's been living in OZ for way too long. Loving your videos. Visited Cornwall and stayed in Falmouth, some time in the mid(?) 60's. Gotta love sailing/cruising. Ironic. You are sailing a NZ designed boat. So am I ,in a Hartley TS16. Good to see you enjoying JW's boat.

Welcome back. Though I've watch several of your videos from the past, today is my first after subscribing to your channel. Just curious, what is your maximum wind speed when choosing a day for a daysail?

Hello. Good question. I'm happy to go out in up to 12 - 14 knots and gusts no more than 22kts. I get very seasick when it gets bumpy ... I've found that somewhat spoils the enjoyment 😆 I'm happiest in 7 -10 knots and below 4 knots I get bored 🥱 😆 if arwen could be towed long distances I wouldn't mind but she can't so listlessly bobbing about irritates me

@@plymouthwelshboyThank you for your reply. This is good information for me as I sail a boat of my own design and nobody else in my neck of the woods (Newfoundland east coast) sails small open boats. A shame really, since we're a culture of sail and oar boats for hundreds of years, but sadly, that tradition is all but lost. Your sailing preferences are much in line with me, so this indicates I'm pretty much on track with you. I've learned much from the experiences of other small boat enthusiasts like you. Thank you!
