This should be a how to assemble one of these videos course. Lots of footage of all the boats under sail with the design name for dreamers builders and plan shoppers. Slices of life at camp and a look at your meals. Im so jealous of your great sailing community. You referenced Roger Barnes, well youre the southern equivalent. Really great. Thanks for sharing.

Well I'm not sure I'm a southern Roger, but he was my inspiration to get a boat . We don't have the beautiful little harbours and decades of history, but we do have lakes and a lot of National Parks to explore and you can't beat our weather. Thanks again for watching, cheers Paul

Good morning Paul thank you for another great video. I always look forward to seeing your latest raid, it’s just wonderful to see so many small boats together in such a great location,especially as it’s your winter down under. Well thanks to your inspiration I have purchased a Stornaway 18( they are very rare here in the UK).I have almost finished repainting and varnishing her and hope to have her on the water within the next few weeks maybe a bit late in our season,but better late than never. Quite a showing for a winter Raid! Great editing, all inclusive buffet of boats to salivate over. Though there was a bit of disappointment with out a Deb Potato and forgotten item review! 🙂
@SailingKateLouise
Жыл бұрын
Well Capt, believe it or not I didn't forget anything this time! and for some reason the Deb potato (with onion) is always very scarce in the shops....plenty of plain which is awful, but not with onion. But do not despair I will keep looking😂 Thanks for watching again, cheers Paul
Yet another great video. Thank you Paul. I envy your winter sailing conditions in Oz. A bit different to winter sailing here in the Solent in UK where a drysuit is essential! Jim

I remember sailing at Frensham ponds near Farnham in winter and we had to break up the ice to go sailing.....which doesn't really make a lot of sense. Thanks for watching, cheers Paul
Thanks Paul, that's your best video yet. The Gunter rig seems more popular than the lug, what are your thoughts on the two? Regards, Bill
@SailingKateLouise
Жыл бұрын
Hi Bill, yes there are a few boats with the Gunter rig, I will do a more specific video later. But I think in general the Gunter allows for a higher aspect rig with a shorter mast, compared to the lugsail but is a bit more complicated to hoist. The Gunter would also point better as it's similar to a Marconi rig. I've never had a Gunter rigged boat but I will check with the guys. Thanks for watching, cheers Paul
I recently found and subscribed to your channel Paul. I love your video work and storytelling. Great editing, music, scene changes and interviews. All around excellent work! I grew up sailing and boatbuilding on the West coast of USA, and then in Costa Rica, but have lived in landlocked state of Colorado in the Rocky Mtns of US for almost 30 years. There's a few small lakes so sailing is pretty limited. Watching your videos allows me to mentally be out on the water again and fantasize about being under sail. I love it!! AWESOME RAID! Oh, almost forgot to comment and congratulate you on your vegetarianism! We've been veg for over 15 yrs and think it's the ONLY way to go. Good on ya mate!

Tremendous camera work, a great sail report. Have to join you next time. The story about the great white shark is true he jumped beside my neighbors fishing boat and he showed me the video. It was to the east of Pulbar. Since the professional fishermen have left the lake there are lots of fish for them.

@@SailingKateLouise Thanks Paul for the timely reply , but this old salt has built boats. I asked , because the design has , like your boat, a traditional look to her. While she lacks the lift of the overhangs of Kate Louise, she does , nonetheless , hold a visual charm. Keep the videos coming as it is nice to see you and your friends enjoy the simple joy of a day on the water. Well done. Paul in Canada
True for old school but I had paid piloting marine instruction for the pull of inflated kites. No mast. Lee board only for 3 activities. Boat pull faster than 30 horses. Depart and return to anchorage after kite board ride or body surfing. I use an 8 meter spread to employ Beaufort Scale #5, #6, and the low end of #7. Determined by my WIND WIZARD, non-electronic, hung upon my neck. Me? Senior citizen, pensioned, upon the Salish Sea.

Why do you call this dinghy cruising when most of the boats you show have cabins ?
@SailingKateLouise
Жыл бұрын
Hi Francis, well when it started there were mainly small dinghies like Heron's etc. but pretty soon people realised that having a small cabin offers a lot of advantages so people stated buying larger boats with boom tents or cabins. The name never changed and as we have no strict rules it doesn't really matter. Just get out on the water and have some fun, thanks for watching, cheers Paul
