Dudes: Don’t compare yourselves to Dimash. We are all created to do our own thing. I’m an artist who paints. If I constantly compared myself to Rembrandt I probably wouldn’t keep painting. But just maybe some day someone will view my watercolors and feel a wonderful emotion from them. Please just feel blessed that we are here, in this time, to witness, with our own ears, this incredible gift to us. And never forget we have all been created to give. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Yes we love having Lucas here! You need to hear the low range he obtained in 'Stranger'. I don't think what Lucas saw on Dimash's face was a struggle about making the notes- this was the emotion of the song. I'm not sure you know that this song was written about a true story, a tragedy where a child was saved by his dying parents during a crash of a cable car breaking and falling and the parents somehow kept the child from dying. Once you hear Dimash's interviews and personal stories, you realize that the only thing that means more to him than music is children (all of them) and his family. This is very deep for him. I can be a bit new age, but I like to say that Dimash is downloading Love when he sings, and he's gifting this to the world. He's an amazing person and humanitarian too, as well as one of the most stunning singer any of us have ever heard. Cheers guys!

At 2:50 that little riff Dimash does is to show everyone this was live. This is from 2017-the world was just discovering him, and of course, many claimed his voice 'couldn’t be real'. If you've ever seen him wave the microphone in front of his mouth while singing to get a kind of staccato noise, that’s also to prove he’s singing live. Loving these dual reactions! A Canadian Dear 🦌🇨🇦💜🇰🇿

  • @paivyt.

I think it's more to get an staccato effect easily by shaking mic, not to prove anything. He does this all the time, it's one of his useful tricks and it really makes a cool sound. This was his own concert and his fans who already know him. :)

I'd argue they're right, as a bilingual person (Chinese & English) I can tell you that Mandarin has a very different way of pronunciation that the language itself makes it hard to sing in it, because your voice can't be continuous if you wanna pronounce the words clearly. He has a strong accent, which is fine, but it is also clear that nearly everytime he nails a huge belt or run, he cannot be the middle of a word if he wishes not to completely butcher the lyrics, the Chinese language makes that impossible. He needs to do so while the note is sung one bit at a time (as you can hear it while he sings in Chinese), or he extends one word and makes it huge. What he was doing there, when they said he was relieved when he pulled it off, he was singing in one insanely high note, doing it while pronouncing properly, AND do it a word at a time where he has to stop between every syllable. I have not ever, and I mean ever, heard a Chinese speaking singer pull that off. Maintaining a super high note in each syllable with a pause between each one of them, and nail the pronunciation. Dimash did that, godly as he is, it still might've given him a hard time during practice since he does have a strong accent. It was difficult enough to understand him when he simply speaks in Chinese, being able to do that alien stuff while pronouncing understandable Chinese is next freaking level. You must be a foreigner if you didn't sense that, but as a native speaker let me tell you, that is HARD. Because you know why I'm impressed? He was able to pronounce in the correct tone (Mandarin has five for each pronunciation, and messing up the tone could lead to very different meanings) while doing what he did. King indeed, but it must've been different to achieve doing something a native singer couldn't possibly do in their native language as a foreign speaker. Let alone nailing those god damn vocals simultaneously.

@@hansleoni Thank you for your reply! I was speaking in terms of vocal ability and range which while affected greatly by foreign language pronunciation is not the same point. Dimash talks a lot about singers who inspired him through the years, and since he was 5 years old he has had his icons. They range many genres and styles from Pavarotti to his favorite, Michael Jackson. I'm a 79 year old retired singer/songwriter/guitarist/performer/vocal teacher with a 3 octave vocal range at best. Sinatra did a lot with 2 1/2 octaves. Dimash is a prodigy who inspires me with his work ethic, respect for music as an art form, and his spectacular performances. He still is in awe of many other singers.

This is one of my top 5 songs by Dimash. The emotions he conveys, of the small boy desperately pleading with his parents not to leave him, not to die. The parents saved their child, but lost their own lives doing so. It’s a true story, where an infant was orphaned in China in a cable car accident. His performance is powerful, full of pain and despair. He really is an extraordinary artist altogether.

Love your reactions. What seldom gets mentioned is that he sings this song in Chinese (Mandarin) which he really struggles with. So in addition to his vocal training, he is also learning lyrics in foreign languages. He speaks Kazakh & Russian fluently and his English is greatly improved now. I particularly enjoy listening to him sing in his native tongue(s); I think it allows him more freedom to enjoy the music and his feelings. But then again, Dimash does seem to convey emotion in whatever language he sings in; his brain just doesn't have to work so hard when it's Kazakh or Russian. Enjoy the journey.

Daybreak is based on a true event - a tragic cable car accident took place in China in October 1999 which took the lives of 14 tourists and there were 22 injured. A young couple managed to lift their 2,5yo son out of the falling cable car to safety but the parents did not survive the accident. Han Hong wrote Daybreak to commemorate the couple’s ultimate sacrifice for their child and she also sang it in the 2015 Singer competition and won - definitely worth watching. She adopted the orphan in 1999. ☮❤️ Sea Point, Cape Town, South Africa

Also, Dimash would be the first person to support you on your music journey, whatever that may be. BTW, after Singer 2017, because Dimash's dears (fans) wanted him to dance and present his lower register more, he studied, learned to dance and sang using his lower register for his future performances.

Dimash is a phenomenon. There are wonderful singers out there but then there is Dimash. I’m 76 and have never heard anything like him. There are so many colors in his voice. I doubt there is anyone in my time or yours that will compare to Dimash. He should be more well known in Europe and the US. I hope to see that happen. That being said, I don’t want him to dumb down his music to accomplish that. If he doesn’t work here, he will have a beautiful and successful life where everyone knows his name now. Thanks for your comments. Bev

I'm loving these reactions with Lucas and his insights and thoughts on Dimash's performances! Please keep doing this! Also, Lucas is very mistaken-- Dimash does dance and sing-- quite vigorously-- Give Me Your Love 2021 has an amazing run in the middle of a dance sequence, but he dances quite intensely for the entire song. Please react to it!! There are a few others as well-- Kieili Meken is one of them. He usually has at least 2-3 songs in a concert that are dance numbers. During the London concert in 2018, when he was running a fever of 104 F, he danced while singing his Michael Jackson tribute, but that is only available on fancam footage. Dimash says he's not a dancer and only does it for his fans, but his accuracy with his choreography is pretty amazing.

He's a tenor, contrary to what many believe. Glad he's cut down on the knees thing. There is no save or better way to do it. If anyone says that they know nothing about anatomy and physiology. Recipe for arthritis at best but also possible tears and even fractures. Recently had a patient in our hospital who just slipped and fell on both knees. 4 surgeries and 2 years later he can finally walk properly again. Not worth it.

Let Mr Producer Man 😉 explain exactly what that is, how the mic picks up the sound etc. This is what other channels lack. That 'we listen and we're analysing it' is what can set you apart from other channels because the good ones purely talk about singing and are professional singers. His listeners love to learn. Thank you, both of you! Great comments! The lyrics in the subtitles here are a bit messed up. The song was written by Han Hong, a famous Chinese singer, who found and adopted a little boy who was the only one out of 35 or so passengers in a cable car to survive unscathed a drop to the bottom of a canyon. His parents raised him above their heads, hoping to cushion his fall. Everyone else either died (including his parents) or sustained severe injuries. The lyrics are a conversation between Han Hong and the boy. Dimash commented that this was the first Chinese song he ever heard and that it shook him tremendously because he has a very loving family and cannot imagine such a thing happening.

That was very interesting, thank you! I'm really enjoying your discussion and technical insights. I can understand that Dimash might feel overwhelmingly good. But, that's how it is... Need to remember that he has worked really hard to achieve what he has, and likely made many sacrifices for it. However, he can inspire in many ways. Following his example, many singers have begun to work on things they would not have even imagined possible until Dimash showed it can be done. This has improved their abilities as singers, possibly expanding their technique and range but also their perceptions of music. Dimash himself takes the example of many legendary singers and doesn’t think he’s better than them. He still says he is trying to become a real artist. :)

Love the two of you together on the journey. I kind of giggled when it was said “I wish I wasn’t a musician lol” I watched a very talented singer react to Dimash’s sinful passion. After watching he said”well, I now have no career.” Lol. I think what a lot of “dears” love about Dimash is how humble he is. His popularity is for that same reason. He works very hard and is dedicated to his family and homeland. He can sing in 12 languages, but I think what was so impressive is when he was competing on the show”the singer”. He sang in Russian, French, and English. But as a thank you for China acceptance and support he learnt a Chinese song in a week. He’s very choosy when picking a song. He says it must move him. The song daybreak is a true story. A bunch of tourists visiting China had a trolley accident. As it fell the parents of this 2 year old pushed him out. They did not survive. Dimash said he trembled when he heard it. Fact: the night of his performance of this song on the show, Dimash lost his voice. Though was told at the hospital he should not sing high notes, he sang his heart out even with the pain. Your journey has only begun! Enjoy. You should watch the documentary, it gives an insight of Dimash.as well as he directed one of his songs mv. It is worth the watch. kzread.info/dash/bejne/fWhp08aLcay9kbA.html

Whats truly amazing is how 23 year old Dimash can fell this story, conveying all the emotions of a small boy who was watching his parents die, while singing in Mandarin Chinese, a language he had only recently been exposed to. This was from his amazing solo concert Bastau from Kazakhstan in 2017.Dimash is a master at all he does, he wasnt surprised, he sings a song over and over until its gone through his soul and only then is he happy to perform it. Dimash does dance, and he is a great dancer, look at Give me Your Love 2021. Love you two, keep reacting together please, great stuff.

Nice to see both of you again! Most of us would love to have somebody to talk about how amazing Dimash is. Dimash is such an extraordinary singer! And don't feel bad, Dimash is one in a lifetime. Nobody, really nobody can do what he does. And it is ok! The cool thing is that he inspires everybody to be a better singer, better artist, better human being. Keep reacting together! I love you both! Hugs from Brazil!

To honestly react to this performance you need to know 2 backstories. One: The tragedy that the song is based on, who wrote the song, and that Dimash learned to sing it in the original language, Mandarin Chinese. Two: Dimash's struggle losing his voice, getting medical steroid injections in his larynx, and then performing it on the TV show "I am Singer" just barely getting through it as he said, "With the help of God."

  • @australorpa

One: learned in one week. Two: yes, a different performance, but equally as wonderful and emotional; whatever the circumstances, vocal or other, Dimash sings the song, the content, the emotions. Had Vitas been only the composer and not the singer of his Opera 2, he would have reason to be thankful for Dimash's performance, as Krutoy probably is to have him singing his conceptions so capably, so wonderfully.

This is my favorite with Dimash. It's just beautiful. You should watch his diva dance from the Bastau concert too. Diva dance is the alien solo from the movie Fifth element. The aria was computer made as it was seen to hard to sing for a human..... Several women have tried but Dimash do it best, by far.

I never heard you guys sing. Do you guys know how jealous I AM of your voices, just talking? The tone of your voices is sooo good. I always say, never compare yourselves to anybody. Just make sure you are better today than you were yesterday. Especially when you're a singer! That's why while most people love Dimash, everybody's got a favorite artist, and favorite songs, and chances are, they are not Dimash, nor his songs! That's because while everybody is amazed at his talent and how beautiful his music is, what kind of tone people like, what genre of music they like, what kind of tempo people like, are all PREFERENCES based on TASTE! So there's plenty of room for thousands of talented singers, and the world would be a terrible place without that. So I really hope Dimash inspires others toward excellence. As he does. Because apart from being born with certain vocal cords, the guy has been on a journey of self-improvement every day since he was 5 years old. Even now I hear in his latest song "Stranger" how he expanded his lower vocal range and improved his English. What an inspiration!

For me this is most painful and emotional song. The backstory of the song is that it was made by Han Hong after a known accident in China where a single child survived a tram accident because she was lifted above the tram. The parents didn't, and Han Hong, soon after making this song, adopted the child. During the Singer, Dimash was sick, and he said he didn't do the song justice. In this performance I think this was more of a tribute than a part of a concert.

I hope that professionals don't feel disheartened. Every artist who loves what they are doing has something to offer.....a texture, a beat, a style, a lyric... that is enjoyable to the listener's ear. It's folly to feel disappointment in not matching a singular talent like Dimash. Someone has to be at the pinnacle. But that doesn't, in any way devalue performers who aren't to his level, but who's efforts are still worthy of listening to. If someone enjoys the melodies you create, their lives are enhanced . There is value in that.

Dimash is such a perfectionist, he won't perform a song until he's absorbed it into his being ...'til the song has "ripened" according to his dad. All that practice puts him a step ahead so what seems so hard to us is not the case with him.

Like others have said, everyone brings something different to the table and everyone has different tastes. Even with all his talent, some people don't like listening to Dimash. This song was written and sung for first time by Han Hong, one of the famous Chinese singer and songwriters. She wrote that it is based on a true story. A family was riding in a cable car that broke. At the moment that a cable car fell and crashed, the father tried his best to hold his son high. The two-year-old child survived, while his parents both died. Deeply touched by the story, Han adopted the child. She said she feels empathy with the boy, more than others, since she herself lost her father at the age of six.
