Thanks for this reaction, one of my favorite Dimash's performance. He is not on stage, he sings from somewhere else, a dimension where there is only notes, sounds, voice. This is one of the reasons why I love him so much: he does not sing for celebrity, for money, for prestige: he sings because it comes from his soul. And the silence in the stadium is completely crazy...

Brandon I don't think it's because he takes swimming lessons. I think it's because he swims underwater for hours at a time whenever he's able.

If swimming underwater is the reason then many singers would be able to do what DIAMSH does and I don't there is any singer that can compare to him or even come close. It might help but I think there are lots of unknowns about Dimash and how he sings so magically that we may never know it all.

He is singing in Mandarin in Autumn Strong. It is a love song. You must look up the background of the song as it is heart breaking true story and Dimash conveys all of the pain of that story.

Mr Producer I like you! There are many singers and coaches but not many producers. Many of us love to learn, so could you please join more often and really talk about what the sound engineers are doing as well as what Dimash is doing (what you refer to as him working). Too many people think he just sits and sings beautifully and don't realise what a singer hears in their in-ear monitors, what they do to balance sound, fix difficulties they encounter etc. To have someone who understands this and can explain would be very helpful.

I am a Dear since 2018/2019- Never been a fan of any singer, never was very interested in more than mainstream music. Since discovering Dimash, what can I say....? He moves me with his music emotionally, like nobody can. He can sind in any language, I don`t understand a word, even the telefonbook would be fine to me, lol. I have tickets to his concert, which should take place early 2020. I am keeping these tickets, hoping to attend 2022. I saw him 2019 live at a concert. It was remarkable. Live is he even better as every recording I heard from him. You can hear a needle drop when he is singing. People get into another zone so to say. And just saying, I was standing 30cm in Front of the stage and him. He is a really handsome, tall, slim and kind guy. He has an aura you can not describe. There are no words. He is now 27 years old, he was 25 then. And he seems to have a old soul, sounds cheesy I know, but its true. He is a god send gift and a true, hard working artist.

We are so blessed to be living and experiencing the great and unbelievable talent that Dimash is. He truly emotes the song he sings like no other! He changes genres in his songs that will best convey the message each word/line/phrase. Who else does it with such ease???!

Listeners really do need the back story of this song in order to fully appreciate it. I think the version on Gloria Wu's channel might be the one that explains the song is about a Chinese born actress who was dearly loved in China before she was discovered during WW2 to have Japanese ancestry and was then banished from the only country she had ever known.

A Dear researched this story and described it as somewhat different from G. Wu's version: after the war the actress was about to be convicted as a traitor, because she took part in propaganda films, produced by the Japanese. Then she revealed her Japanese nationality and this saved her - she was not convicted, but deported.

@@Ginger_Cat2604 Thanks for your input, Ginger. Really hard to know the true stories of anything that happened 80 years ago unless someone who is alive and was personally involved can tell it. Even then............Either way she was apparently sent out of the only country she truly knew. Makes for a sad song no matter how it was that she was sent away. I wish the youtube videos for this song would provide some sort of background information before new viewers reacted to it. It makes all the difference.

@@Ginger_Cat2604 - Yes, this is what I also remember reading (in Wikipedia?). Also, unlike what the Gloria Wu story tells, she did actually return to China. Granted, it was decades later, but she did return for a visit. And if I recall, it was a death sentence for treason that she was facing, which is why her Japanese nationality was revealed (although several people knew it already, friends she had grown up with) - to save her life.

Even the song itself is quite the story. As people in this comment thread may know, Ika Nai Ide was the original composition for a movie about Yoshiko Yamaguchi (the Japanese actress we're talking about), but before it became the song that Dimash made internationally popular, it was first a Canto-pop hit "Lei Heong Lan" (the Cantonese pronunciation of Yamaguchi's Chinese name by which most Chinese knew her). The song was sung by Jacky Cheung - possibly the best selling artist ever in Canto/Mando-pop before the advent of our current age of digital copies and streaming. It was also featured as a plot device in Stephen Chow's blockbuster spy parody _From Beijing with Love_ - making it very popular in mainland China too. It was around this time that someone decided to write lyrics in Mandarin for the song and rename it "Qiu Yi Nong" - translated as Autumn Strong these days but really a more accurate title in English should be "Deep in the mood of fall/autumn". Jacky was naturally the singer of this version too, and the song somehow made its way to Kazakhstan and became Dimash's first contact with Chinese pop music. The rest is history.
