Dimash is another wonder of the world ! Shame on Vitas for not supporting this amazing young talent ,his song would have been much more known throughout the world !

Not just higher than vitas, but several times higher. Gr8 job. Other contestants would have known that as a foreigner, he would not be able to win, they changed the rule the following year. Dimash came 2nd . Having already developed a huge reputation in his own country, Russia Belarus and few other countries around Kazakhstan. Being invited to take part in this competition was a huge blessing Dimash was absolutely ready to open up to the world and that is what participating in the singer gave him. Cause the Chinese audience (who were the judges, immediately recognised his talent and spread the word of Dimash across the globe - so he won so much more. So it was his springboard to the the rest of the world - for which I am very grsteful). Cheers

@@merlin7260I heard both - initially it was said so, but then one of the fans said that was not true. So who knows? But the fact that Dimash has never sung “Hello” again, might be saying something. Although, that song has never been one of my Dimash favorites. It’s not the song for Dimash’s range.

funny backstory of this song is that Dimash was first time outside his country, feeling very lonely and homesick, and his father surprised him and came from Kazakhstan to support him. you can see him on the audience as camera focuses on him couple of times.

Opera2 was the second performance of The Singer competition in 2017 in China. The song is in Russian. A language he also speaks fluently. The original was from the famous Russian singer named Vitas. The song is very famous and popular in China. The audience already knew what to expect, but were very surprised when Dimash raised the pitch three times. Vitas but only once. The man who raises his fist in the air at the end is Dimash’s father. He came from Kazakhstan to support his son. However, Dimash knew nothing about it when he performed. I think it was very difficult for him at the beginning. You have to imagine, until this competition in China in 2017 he never was alone. Dimash, like many other Kazakhs, has the tradition of living under one roof with the whole family all together. He lives with his grandparents, parents, a sister, a brother an other relatives in the same house. And now he had to go to China alone, didn‘t know the country, didn‘t know the language, didn‘t know the traditions or livestyle in this country and up to that point he spoke (almost) no English, except maybe „Thank you“ and „My name is Dimash“. Only one interpreter came along and that at the age of 22. He was almost a kid to me then (my son is 20 so I can imagine…). And after that performance he saw his dad. So beautiful and emotional. BTW the audience is also the jury. During the Opera 2 performance, he flirted with the audience in a way that wasn’t really his habit at the time (fortunately that has changed in the meantime). And afterwards he said that he was really uncomfortable that his father saw him like that🤭. Luckily he didn’t find out until afterwards because I love it when he’s like that on stage🥰. I love this video because he still seemed so innocent. Just a boy and he didn't seem as serious as he sometimes is these days. He still looked carefree. You really have to watch this with subtitles. It’s really important to know what the song is about. So please react to The Singer version first🙏🙏🙏. In the Singer version he was so sick and had a severe sore throat and fever. He lost his voice the night before his performance of Daybreak. I heard him say in an interview that it was very painful throughout the song, that his throat feels like shredded glass but he didn’t want to disappoint the people who stand behind him and so he pulled himself together and went on stage. He got 5 injections from this doctor in the hospital. And the doctor told him not to sing high notes. You can see how concerned the other competitors were and they suffered with him. They knew he was not doing well and one of them even gave him a very expensive Chinese medicine from his own inventory. The problem was his busy schedule between the performances and he didn’t have enough time to recover. He made very good friends there and many friendships still exist today. After the performance he lost his voice again. It’s unbelievable how he always manages to convey emotions to such a degree. Though I think in this one particular version the emotions he shows are mostly concern about his voice keeping up with the song and the pain he must have been in doing it. The Bastau version (no sore throat) of Daybreak is phenomenal and mind-blowing. So emotional and heartbreaking. Maybe you can do both together. Many reactors do and so you can see the difference between this two performances. In both versions I always cry my eyes out. I don’t know why I have to cry more. Because of the story or the fact, that he was in such pain and performed anyway because he didn’t want to disappoint the audience. Both version were in the same year 2017. This performance was only the second episode of the 2017 “I am Singer” competition that Dimash was invited to participate. First episode, he did SOS. I wish you could have seen the longer version of this video where he thanked everyone at the end and finally sees his father in the audience and ran to hug/picked up his father, and asked his father twice, “Did I sing well?” He also said that he’s homesick and wanted to go home. Dimash only knew his father was coming, but didn’t know he was already in the audience. He later admitted in an interview that he wouldn’t have been so flirty with the audience had he known his father was there. How cute. Just simply love Dimash. ❤

You did not follow through to the end. They began escorting his dad, Kanat, up to the front from the shadows where he was hiding. He had secretly flown in from Kazakhstan and did not want Dimash know he was in the audience until after his performance. Very sweet moments. Dimash even asked his dad if he did well.

Dimash isn't alien. I'm convinced he's Heaven's Choir's lead vocalist lent to us for a time of great upheaval. He sings to the soul. Understanding the language he sings in isn't strictly necessary to feel his message.

I believe Dimash responded graciously to the Vitas "noise," saying it wasn't Vitas, it was the producer, and he and Vitas were good friends and supportive of one another. I think he goes up to an E6 in the last run. He's hit a D8 (off the piano) in Unforgettable Day. Vitas only went up one step in his performance. Dimash went up 3 steps. This was part of a contest show in China where Dimash began to be exposed to a larger audience. Dimash was a "surprise contestant." Many of the other people reacting were other competitors. This was Dimash's second performance. He did SOS first (You reviewed a different version he did later which is cool.). He won the first and the second episode. If you watch this video further, you'll see his father, who surprised him after the performance.

The man at the end who pumps his fits is Dimash’s father. He traveled from Kazakhstan to surprise him. Apparently Dimash was struggling being away from home and family for so long. They have a nice little moment in the hall outside where Dimash asks his father if he performed well. There’s a longer version that shows that interaction.

Who would even want to follow behind a DIMASH performance. Feel sorry for the one scheduled to follow behind him. What can you even do to top a performance by DIMASH. I would be busy packing for home.

Opera 2 is such a fun performance to watch, I love how everyone's faces slowly go from "what's going to happen?", to "What?! How am I supposed to compete against that" in a matter of few seconds, TOTAL DEFEAT 😂. And it's a shame that Vitas (I didn't know about Lionel) basically banned Dimash from singing it ever again. (Smells like jealously to me) But as you said, pity as heck.

Vitas only modulated once in “Opera 2”. Dimash modulated three more times above him. No wonder Vitas sent a cease and desist to Dimash after this performance.

This might be my favorite he's done, and I always love seeing everyone lose their minds over it. 😁
