The blinds have two cords- one to raise up or down and the other to open/close the slats. If it has two on each side it's because they each control a side of the double blind. My Mom had them and I learned ' how to ' on different ones.

I appreciate both his objection to nail clipper design and your reaction. One of those things that's cheaply designed and made, but also fixable by just paying attention to what the hell you're doing, or at least rectifiable. Or you can buy fancier ones. Either way, pay attention. Clipping nails can go surprisingly wrong.

I love how Onlyjayus uses basically no music in her videos like this not shorts,but if there is its very subtle.

The rage about pockets! Lmao 🤣 I can relate

Part of the reason baskets have their handles that way is to give you more space to stack stuff. If it goes lengthwise, it either needs to be longer than what can fold into the basket or a lot shorter than it is now. Stores want you to buy more stuff, so the baskets are designed so you can fit more so you buy more.

You have a fair point about the wine glasses. There was also the argument that shape affects the experience. You can get appropriately shaped glasses with no stems, that just sit like tumblers, and these are more and more common even for serious winos. I gather that the heat of one's hand is a factor too, which is a problem with no stem, but that's really a concern only for the most discerning drinkers. SO nobody's forced to use trad stemmed glasses, unless guests at someone's table in a formal setting, so then really the concern is grace and good guestly conduct, not mere pragmatism.

I think the amount of medical conditions I have is a human design flaw

My design flaw is my weird left arm, a nerve in my sholder broke when I was born, docters fixed it but my left arm wil never be normal.

Wine glass: The shape of it was because of it was in the early day the peasants were not aloud to serve the royal by holding the top of the glass so the served it by holding the stem that's what we call a gauntlet style wine glass. Today we have the same design but, the reason for the wine glass is so that, we can hold it by the stem of the glass to keep the wine chilled with out warming the wine up with our hands.

I usually disagree with a lot of lists like this but this guy had plenty of good points- you made a good choice to use it, and I generally agree with your comments/rifs on it. Even the bottles- I'm old enough to remember when plastic bottles first became common and replaced glass for so many beverage and condiment applications. They have advantages, but what a waste. They'd almost be better off to sell ketchup in jars like mustard or relish sometimes still come in and make you spoon it out. Easy to empty, no plastic. Maybe the restaurant sector can use plastic or some other new age polymers/ceramics.

Regarding the wine glass: its not only to force people to be gentle and all that highclass stuff, but it has been changed to be what it is now (because believe it or not, drinking glass innovations still happen) to regulate the heat transferance from the hand to the drink, to allow for the ideal (usually low) ammount of bubbles to form during pouring, to allow the smell of the drink (and the bubbles in the case of champagne and other sparkly wines) to escape in the right amount, to reduce oxidation of the drink by limiting the surface area exposed to the air and so on... that is also the reason there are many shapes of wine/brandy/pisco/cognac/champagne/etc glasses with different names each (globe, flute and so on), since each of them are ideal for certain types of drinks or drinking prefferences. And yes, most of them make very minor difference on the experience, but it is done to enhance the experience of those that can notice said differences. Regarding temperature on the stoves: the temperature you are cooking on will vary depending on the thickness and material of your pan, the numbers are actually a relative meassurment of the intensity of the flame, but if you are using a thin pot, a regular frying pan, a wok, and wether they are made of steel or ceramics or others will greately vary the temperature, so you really cant really measure the flame to always give the same temprerature to the cooking

Automatic flush sensors have problems too- they can and do overreact and flush like seven times after one stands up. The water wastage is fantastic at one washroom in the building where I work. Kind of negates their efforts to use sensors to extremely limit the water you get at the sinks.

I hate open doors it's weird but when I'm in a room and the door to the room is open I always have to close the door or else I can't stop thinking about the door being closed

Refrigerators designed by people who have never had to clean one. Funny corners that are impossible to get into, drawers that can’t be completely removed, shelves that don’t actually fit or terrible to remove and worse to try to reinstall. All designers should have to put their prototype into a frat house for at least three months and then try to clean it themselves, with no help.

I also hate that women’s pants don’t have pockets. Like yoga pants kinda do for your phone, but I can’t shove my wallet and assorted toys and other things in there. I fix the problem by buying mens and boys pants and shorts. The other problem I have with women’s pants, jeans especially, is that they’re too tight. Like I don’t want pants that hug my legs that much. Make something baggier like mens pants, and put usable pockets in everything! My brother and I joked once about creating a clothing brand that specializes in making womens clothing that has pockets and isn’t designed to make you look more attractive but is designed instead to be more comfortable and give you more wiggle room if you want it.

The stickers on most fruits are actually edible. They're the only way you're going to know where the bulk fruit came from. 🙄

In Australia the money notes arent a problem, as they are plastic (reused), coloured, different size, have braille and have watermarks that make it impossible to counterfeit.

And the blinds, toothbrushes, pockets. The toothbrush thing seems like the product of taking something that was already maxed out on utility and deciding to go all high tech with it. Maybe there's always room to improve the brush head, but the handles were fine. If you can't put it down without the brush head falling over on the counter, your design fails.

Size of mouth of glass does affect how drink tastes as it regulates how fast and how wide the flow of liquid is. It's the same as do you put a small piece of potatoe chip in your mouth or a handful at ones. Wider body with narrower mouth then again makes smelling the drink easier as wide body allows more liquid to evaporate and then it is concentrared in narrow mouth of the glass. Tall, narrow leg reduces heat from surfaces and hand from warming up or cooling down the drink.
