The grommet for the twist lock fastener is oval in shape, not round like a normal grommet. It will not work in round grommets, sorry.

Butal tape? Is that the same as sticky glue? What is the purpose of using that? Is 5200 and similar sealants not the better alternative? (Sorry I am a layman in this). Secondly, which is the best/better material to use against corosion, sea water stain and rust for coastal use?

3M 5200 is a very strong adhesive. It is labeled as a fast cure, but it can take days to cure completely. It is also very messy and very difficult to clean up any over application. Butal tape, on the other hand, is not an adhesive, it seals very very well and is very easy to clean up. The only negative to Butal tape is that it should not be used around gas, oil or fuel as it will break down if those touch it. I would use butal tape for all my bedding applications.

How the heck do you keep the fabric from unraveling? With a grommet, the physical pressure from the rim of the grommet holds everything in place. There is not enough pressure here. Shouldn't we use a flame or some kind of fabric glue before putting the parts on the fabric?

Good question. Using a hot knife to seal the cuts in the fabric could be done, but typically when these fasteners are installed that is not done. In most installations, the twist lock eyelet with washer installed in a hole cut with the Twist-Lock Hole Cutter, without sealing the edges of the hole or slits in the fabric, works well with no unraveling.
