    Paul, we had a 45' steel trawler for 25 years. We had the same issue happening way too often. I bought a stainless steel canvas fastener kit from Speanaur in southern Ontario. Expensive but lasted me years. Those Flanged snaps always break because you have to pull them off and weakens the screwed-in flange. We changed those screwed-in fasteners to twist lock instead of the yank-off style. They lasted well over 15 yrs plus. If you a handy DIY fer this is a long-lasting solution and effortless to take off.

    Good info and product! I've never heard of it before but will definitely be getting some for the tool box! What I've used in the past for the exact same reason are small gyproc anchors. Clean up the hole a little with a small drill bit, poke in an anchor, reinstall the snap! Easy peasy! Thanks for the info and keep it comin'! I'm always open to new ideas and suggestions!!!

    Thanks! I've been putting this off on my 2001 Amberjack 340 for a number of years after trying to use marinetex that was too runny to stay in the hole (no access from the other side either). I tried oversized snap screws, but they just pulled out too, leaving an even larger hole.

    Thanks, good info, I have also used snaps that come in the form of bolts. So if you have access to the back of the snap a bolt and washer with a nylox nut works great on heavy use snaps. See ya when the water softens up!

    Absolutely. As I alluded to in the video, I used this product to fill sizable voids around the portholes in our 400 Sedan Bridge, where water intrusion had compromised the balsa core. Works great - and the unused portion stays good for years!

    Hey Paul, did you say in another video that one of your engines charge your house battery? Thanks for all great tips!

  • @BoatingWithBoogaboo

    @BoatingWithBoogaboo

    The setup on this boat is that the two port batteries, connected in parallel, are both the starting batteries for the port engine, as well as house batteries. Same as we had on our prior 400 Sedan Bridge, so I'm guessing that's the way Sea Ray did it on most of their cruisers of that era. I'll be swapping out the alternator on the port engine this Spring, so keep an eye out for that video 👍

    Hey Paul. A popular brand in the states is known as JB Weld. If you make It to PIB someday I will tell you a story on how it saved me $1500 on a used jet ski which I still have! Let's see how the vacuflush issue played out? Keep'em coming.

  • @BoatingWithBoogaboo

    @BoatingWithBoogaboo

    Yup, JB Weld is also popular in these parts, but I mostly associate that product with metal/water leak repairs. . . Now, are you referring to MY Vacuflush system, or yours?

  • @greensdreams

    @greensdreams

    3 жыл бұрын

    Sorry I think I saw an old one from way back where you headed back early from a get away because you were having vacuflush bellows issues right after you changed duck bill's? I pulled my generator out last year, cleaned and replaced everything out in that area along with bowl seals but pump is still recycling. I'm thinking it might be leaking on the side of toilet pedestal by the ball and shaft. I hear some air by the shaft pin and was told the orings on the shaft pin can leak over time. It's never easy!

    Do you think this could be used for a minor haul repair?

  • @ccaamm1

    @ccaamm1

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yup. I've used epoxy filler putty to fix a minor repair in a seadoo hull. Found some touch up paint that matched pretty close to hide the repair. Can't see it from 10' away.

  • @BoatingWithBoogaboo

    @BoatingWithBoogaboo

    Sure thing. The only issue you'd have is that the colour wouldn't match. But at least you would have a solid, waterproof seal if it were a chip in the hull.
