Defence spending: Is 2.5% of GDP going to be enough?
Defence Secretary Grant Shapps discusses the prime minister's vow to boost defence spending to 2.5% GDP by 2030 and the Rwanda migration policy.
Former British army officer Colonel Simon Diggins told Sky News that spending should be closer to 3%. Mr Shapps says "the global defence industrial base hasn't expanded quickly enough to deal with the enormous requirements in Ukraine".

But they need to let them land to keep the MP’s with something to do and aircraft industry busy taking them to Rwanda and then the return flights. Are they still paying the aFrench to keep them in France. Just the same as the warmongers need to get making more weapons of mass destruction to increase the national dept. for the investors. The English are a rich and diverse culture who have money to squander and ‘ intellectual’ ( lol) Leaders/ royalty who tend to the poor.
So in other words Russia has demilitarised Ukraine and is well on the way to doing the same to Nato without huge amounts (100's billions) of additional deficit spending borrowing of Euro Atlantic member states govts (regimes) involved in the Ukraine War.
@niburu1508

Yeah - doing what Europe wanted to do with NATO after the end of the Cold War but warmongering US/UK kept it going as part of the US military for obvious reasons. Are now squandering millions of taxpayers £ on weapons of mass destruction instead of improved infrastructure/ health care/ education etc.
And we're still driving on roads full of potholes here in the uk👍
Why wasn't this announcement in the recent budget?
another trap for labour,
@T5Zplayer

Why? Starmer's brownshirts regularly say we are not spending enough.
A proper defence apparatus is not defined by spending/squandering money, a multitude of factors some of them much more important are relevant.
If we tell zelensky your not joining nato we could spend the money at home on our nhs instead of a usa proxy war
What would this chap Schapps know? He couldn't even get the trains to run, let alone an army ...

Of course they do, They have ‘sponsors’, consultancies etc. while in the job so they will have slightly more time on their hands if they get kicked out. They have at least 2 mortgages to keep going, and suddenly have to pay for goods/ services out of their own pocket. A hard life.
Scary.
No, it will not be enough. Indeed, even thinking like that is not going to reset Defence
How about the UK just minds it's own business and we don't have to worry about defense or war.

No it doesn’t. That may be an excuse but it’s still crap. They want to get a bit of profiteering in before the next General Election.
I like how he explained that even if they had more cash they couldn’t spend it. He’s absolutely right to spend that cash on a manufacturing base, also improving uk jobs. Sounds like he’s on the right track.
If they mod stop wasting money in every department each year then yeah.

Here's thought, how about we acknowledge that we no longer have the chest size to sit at the big fools table, remain in a neutral stance, put the defence money into the welfare of the citizens, close the borders properly to all those illegal entrants, build up a good gold reserve, become self-sufficient for the future of our population, we once had incredible talent for innovation, engineering, invention, yet the politicals keep selling those assets, we have no need to be global at the behest of outside interests.
