This is not Dave's post box!
So many college nights spent drinking beer, eating dominos pizza and watching Dave. Thanks for the memories. :)
Willie Geist is THE greatest treasure on tv today in my opinion…..what a true GEM he is!
Dave is looking great and still has all of his wit and dry humor and charm and intelligence. God bless you Dave, we miss you!

I wish he had said the story was, "The beard is for my second career which is boxcar hobo".
David, you changed our lives. Thank you!
I have so much affection for David Letterman.

I started watching him in 1987 when I was 8. Had an old small tv in my room at 9 after much begging to watch his show. He was there through my teen years. My college years. My troubled years. My becoming an adult years until he retired now 5 years ago almost to the day. I left work early, took the subway down to the Sullivan Theater and stood around with a bunch of other people on the day of his retirement, just absorbing it all in. A lifetime of him being there at 12:30 and 11:30 no matter what kind of day life had thrown at me. He was there making me laugh to soften the blow. I miss him tremendously.
I miss you, Dave! Late Night talk shows are not the same without you & Craig Ferguson. I'll be looking forward to your new season on Netflix.
Do love Dave from the early beginning shows to today! Made me get through many late nights wide awake as a "kid" to approach the next day. A modest genius of my lifetime following him into me being an "old man" of 53 now!
Letterman has probably heard this Thoreau quote before, but it's worth repeating: "Many go fishing all their lives without knowing it's not fish they are after." I never regret not catching a fish, because simply in pursuing them, I will be in some of the most beautiful places on earth. How could I lose?
I have always loved Dave's uber-dry sense of humour and overall demeanor.
Dave, you're The Man!! You always were...and you're still the greatest!
Left the show 5 years ago. Feels like 20.

Michael Wayne I can't believe he was on for 33 years! That flew by.
Letterman is the best , always a joy to listen to.
David, you're so flipping cool. God bless you and your family.
Sweet & heartwarming. Before beard & after. Love it.
Five years retired and still best monologues ever in late night, including Carson.
I love Dave so much. The pace of this interview does not match Dave's energy at all but I'll take what I can get. A real fan should've interviewed him.
I sooo miss letterman!!! Watched every night!!! No one like him at all!! Such a great, funny man! Would love to just sit down and chat!!❤
I really admire you fisherman who are tallented enough to catch fish you can take home. I can never seem to fit mine inside the car.
Oops! There goes another one! Love you, Dave! That Beard is AWESOME! 🥰
It was always fun when Dave would have his mother as a guest!
I sure do love & miss you,sweet,funny,David!
Always my favorite host. Even liked him more than Carson. Never knew he was a fisherman,ESPECIALLY a FLY FISHERMAN!! Always remember Dave, it’s FISHING, not CATCHING! Sometimes we do it just to BE there - the wonderful places trout live.🤠
I'll B patiently waitin' for Part 2
letterman's a class act. you did good willie! 🤘
Always a joy seeing a recent Dave
"A Norman Rockwell painting come to life, Willie Geist."
Watched this with headphones on and could hear the trout jumping. Drove me nuts
Lovely interview, Dave is our man.
I loved the running joke on his show about how certain issues will be his son's stepfather's problem !!

Very smart: well-read and incredibly quick-witted. And still self-effacing. Brings to mind Norm MacDonald, as well.
Dave enjoying the golden years.
I never tried to fly fish like Dave & Willie did in this video. I use a spin casting rod the same way my grandfather taught me, like a conductor in an orchestra. It drives the fish nuts. I catch Northern pike, brook trout, small mouth bass, blue gill and perch. Clean 'em, roll 'em in corn meal and fry 'em in Crisco. Yum! Yum!
Enjoyed this a lot. Letterman was real!
Love Dave. He can do whatever he wants in retirement. Like grow that beard. Enjoy Dave!!!
My King of Late night !!
My late Mother and I would sit up many a nights watching David Letterman she would not let me go to sleep until it was over I MISS THOSE DAYS.. Good Times

letterman describes my fishing experience perfectly, "every fish i catch, is a mistake.
Dave is hilarious. Get his sense of humor. I would have been cracking up the whole interview if I were the anchor.
Adorable!❤️
When I was a lot younger, there were just a few reasons that I wanted to go to New York. One was to go to a Dave Letterman show, just wanted to see Dave in person! I missed out, there will never be another late show host like Dave! The guys that came along after him just don't hold a candle!
How cute...Dave is just wonderful...[on camera].
Miss you hosting Letterman show
I wish Willie would have asked about his feelings on aging and how his interviewing approach in the new show differs from his old late night celebrity interviews.

Enjoyed his show so much.
Love ya Dave!!!!
The greatest gift DL gave us on changing talk shows forever, was to end the rehearsed Q&A deal, the obvious programmed conversation, and to make it unpredictable. I will never fprgot him getting Mr. T furious on live TV, as he completely yanked people from any possibility of a comfort zone while on his shows.
dude, it's realistic. you are loved by us fans (in spite of yourself!)
5:40 - David has been saying this "I'll not be around for long" in terms with how long he will be with his son, as he is an older father. However Harry has been lucky to have David around since he was born in 2003. 16 years. I only had my dad around for 10 years, when he died from lung cancer when I was ten in 1995. So Harry should count his blessings to have David around for as long as possible, because when your dad is dead, that is hard, trust me, I know.

Just lost my dad last year, he was 90. I was so lucky to have him around my whole life! Especially the last couple of years helping take care of him. By spending lots of time, listening to stories about his childhood and adult life we got close and healed from all the strife of the past. Spend time with your loved ones while you can.

@@mikefannon6994 Well my dad died in November 1995. I was 10. I remember the day very well. It is burned onto my memory and never goes away. I was at my grandparents home, my mother went to visit dad in hospital as usual. He knew he was dying from lung cancer which spread all over his body. He died very peacefully with my mother and grandfather at his bedside, sadly I wasn't there. He left instructions not to bring me to the hospital to see him, as he didn't want me, 10 years old at the time, to see his dad die from that horrible cancer. I was with my grandmother and uncle in their home. Our priest came to the house at 4.30pm to inform me. I can remember it right now as I type this to you.

I can speak for Dave, as I am getting up there myself. When you are younger, you know very well that someday you won't be around and it's just a simple fact of life. However when you get older. Ten years flies by in away that it just didn't when you were younger and you see how much ten years changes you physically after a certain point. All I can say is that you become part of a whole new reality that you've never experienced. I tell kids every single day, who spend their lives gaming while there is whole world right outside. They'll never be as young or feel as good as they do right now. Someday they'll be so achy and tired that they'll really regret their lost life, but at that point it's too late.

So sorry. I hope you believe you will see him when your journey here is through.
Dave obviously doesn’t get hassled by people, that beard beats any costume department 😂😂
With his look they should put him on a US denomination money bill.
Thanks Dave.
“Neither is his mother” 😂.
We miss you Dave. We dig the beard.
Same ol’ Dave. Enjoying semi-retirement.
I’ve never seen Dave more relaxed
Letterman will be missed!
That guy is amazing.
David Letterman, your son will start liking you again when he's about 16. He will want to share everything with you. Been there, done that, with my daughter :) Twelve to fifteen was tough.
The softer side of Dave. I love it.
I live in a desert, one day when I retire I will move to Indonesia and fish all day
Dave is one of America's living treasures. His latest show is not (as far I know) on Australian TV. :(
Time to go watch reruns of Letterman’s show🙂
David Letterman is Awesome !!............PERIOD !!
